This work on national and international temples is truly fascinating and impressively well-researched. It is evident that the speaker has delved deeply into the subject matter, likely studying a wide range of temples from around the world. The level of detail and insight provided in this work is truly impressive, and it has certainly captured my attention and sparked my interest in this topic. Congratulations to the speaker for an outstanding commentary on temples.
Nice, enjoyed your lecture, intresting study. Traditions associated temples have been there since much older periods. Kosambi history book had a nice chapter about his study of traditions in few small temple near Pune how they are related tribes living in that area.
Well research and informative talk on a debatable topic with regards to historical facts and religious legacy. However ,the author has explained very nicely the evolution of temples and how scientifically and logically they are manifested in Hindu religion. Some of the information given are significant . Excellent work Amitji.
Good explanation. But please don't simplify it so much that we made temples after the Greeks came....Greeks taught us temple art??? Kumari Amman temple in Kanyakumari is about 3000 yrs old.
According to him, yes temple came from yagyashala and greek soldier brought the concept of temple. Also not clear about his concepts of mounts. But it seems stupas were made to give the vibe of caves for buddhist practitioner.
I think you should listen more intently. The speaker clearly said if any evidence are found before the Greeks came, the theory will need updation. We were content with agni-kunds, no shame in that. They also learnt many things from us. Most of their mythologies and philosophy is derived from us. More importantly, they don't exist and We are alive and kicking.
Temples were not existent in satyug since satyug was a time of nomadic and hunter gathers humans. Civilization starts around the middle of satyug and I believe the dispute of daksh-shiva actually represent the conflict of settled humans vs nomadic humans. And then as civilization grew, other things as well including temple. And btw, I am talking based on both western observation as well as Indian observation of early human evolution. Satyuga also meant women were 'devi' which is logical in nomadic life since human females in such are known to settle in seperate groups away from men. Just like lion. Only when men started owning land, women also started becoming 'asset\property'.
Min 19: Simply because a temple has a lower platform, we cannot say it is more ancient architecture. May be that temple was for a smaller God or they did not have enough budget to build a bigger temple, which was built 50 years later. This logic doesn't make sense. And also there are many temples which have only foundations left, meaning, the care takers moved on for what ever reason. And you cannot say there was nothing much before 100 BCE, simply because we did not find any. It basically means, either the more ancient temples got destroyed or repurposed. And claiming that Alexander influenced Bharat to build temples is somewhat ludicrous !! Alexander was considered an invader and fundamentally was hated, hence all his forbearers were killed off ! Saying the temples were copied from them is meaningless!
I think you should listen more intently. The speaker clearly said if any evidence are found before the Greeks came, the theory will need updation. He also said that archaeological evidence points out to the inspiration from Greeks who chose to settle down in Western India, not from Alexander. Thanks anyway,

very poor research, illogical conclusions - in essence a waste of time. He has based his research mainly on western research which draws all conclusions from a western perspective not Indic. Timelines are all based on biblical / church timelines which has no relevance and is BS. Greeks learnt most of their art from Egypt - which is after the conquest of Egypt - there is no Greek art or construction before that period. Alexander failed in his conquest of India and the army was routed - so how can a failed invasion be the basis of evolution of temples in India ? poor and flawed concepts throughout the talk
This is complete waste of time, just trying to prove we were great etc.. No-one can say or claim or prove that he / she was present then or owned or experienced this some hundred/ thousand year back... we need to be practical or be completely ancient, this middle thing is an impediment for us. We can certainly take reference of history but should not go back again & again in history or not get stuck there or be possessive / rigid about it.. this is new time and act accordingly… western knew this very well that internal differences will never going to end and hence they created today’s India … may be we were in much better position if we were 10-15 small countries and had something like Bharat union for other formalities.. if that was the case may be we were discussing more on how to solve current problems then reciting history. western has created a solid mess and looks to be big problem to be solved by us. I don’t think most of our grandfather’s grandfather knew that what religion they belonged to, Religion is modern and rigid way of identifying people. Yes, discussing and proving our glory in the history endlessly is easy and good idea to keep our self happy though.. Highly informative!!
Excellent talk.. He is explaining complicated matter in a simple and interesting manner.
India is the only country where same rituals have been practiced in the same manner since 5000years

It’s really knowledgeable for us. Regularly we are going to mandir but I don’t know about the history of mandir. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent and we'll researched details about our temples and other architectural features. Keep up the good work. 🙏🏻

Explained more about budha caves, compare to Hindu temples. Might have explained when and where temple architecture started to grow.
Why have you not included Jain Temples. They are also prehistoric.

Is hindus convert buddist temples like kanchi , tirumala, badri kedarnath etc?
I don't speak hindi so it was difficult to follow. I want to know, if temples came from Yagyashala, what about the mounds for the dead?
