Westerners use the term as an alternative to the english term which is "Auto rickshaw "we have that design in some parts of our country (The electric ones and the 4-5 people ones) but it is not our traditional design. He just took the idea and drives around in it while an auto rickshaw is used to transport people as per public transport. IT'S SO CRINGEY!! It's like driving a taxi around like it's your own car, fooling people.

Nope, Nope, Nope, I can't take this story seriously. Transracial is just NO. For the record for genders/identities; I only recognize, Male, Female, FtM Trans, MtF Trans, Both Gender, No Gender, and Potato. Room for more, but once it gets to double digit, it is stupid. 67 genders my ass
Regarding identity politic from my perspective a lot of these people are doing it to feel special. Of course I met mostly trans gendered people who I 100% believe in them, however, I recently I met tons of college age students with punchable-face who talk down to me in the most condescending tones when I accidentally use the wrong pronoun when speak to them. Once, I said "him" to a person who 100% look like a normal guy and that person told me I was oppressing them, so I call her a "her", same response, then it told me to call it an "it" because it's has no gender. (I copied this text from a previous comment I made from another video)

Im a weeaboo, but I don't want to be Japanese. People usually joke saying they should have been born Japanese and they wish they were, but rarely u find someone who actually fully claim they are Japanese when they are not. There are those few, but its not that common

    • @loradreamer12

If you don't want to be Japanese then you're not a weeb. Being an extreme anime doesn't make you a weeb it makes you an OTAKU! I'm tired of people confusing the two and making it seem like people who want to go to japan are neck beard losers, when sometimes people just want to travel to another destination.

    I'm Filipino.
    1. We have tricycles. The hell is a "Tuk Tuk"?
    2. I have cousins named JR, RJ, Francine, etc. The hell is "Ja Du / Jadu / Ja du"? Never heard of a Filipino name like that before.
    3. Does he point with his mouth? Nope.
    4. Did Ja Du get whipped by a slipper or a broom when he was a kid? If not; then he's not Filipino.
    5. Filipino culture is something you don't learn by "watching a documentary", you experience and understand it via your family or living in the Philippines.
Filipinos have been through a lot. At least get the facts straight first before declaring to be like us. -.-

Tuk Tuk is the Thai name for tricycle since the auto rickshaw is used all over South East asia and other parts of the world. But it is used as an alternative name for 'Auto rickshaw' which is the english name. Westerners call any form of auto rickshaw a tuk tuk. Still doesn't excuse the fact she is using a public transport vehicle as personal transport. WHY?!

    • @lindsayclay6140
      @lindsayclay6140 6 лет назад

Bahahaha love the whipped by a slipper or a broom! I am from the south and we talk about getting beat with a broom, wooden spoon, fly swatter or what else was handy in the kitchen. And we wouldn't want it ant other way.

We have that in some parts of the country but it is not our traditional design. Like the electric and more modern ones look like that kinda. But hers is a more pimped up version, like it is merged with a mini car.
That design is more common in other parts of the world.

I don’t know. If you really wanna be filipino. Then move there. Learn the their actual culture. I feel like your color of skin doesn’t matter. A black person can be born in Mexico. He is Mexican. Because that’s his culture. If he want to be Filipino. Well then move there. Be one and help the community. I don’t know. It does sound like preference. There’s nothing wrong in admiring a culture. But i don’t now about her.

People constantly confuse and mix up cultural appreciation with cultural appropriation. You can love and accept another culture to learn about it if you feel admiration for it. But you don't have to pretend and claim to BE a person of that culture. If ppl learn how to draw boundaries between the two it won't be a problem.

Joe if you want to wear a dashiki just wear it. People are upset when people refuse to acknowledge where these cultural/traditional fashions come from. It's like when white girls get attributed to starting cornrows as a trend, and praised for it, but if a brown girl does it, some people think it's wrong. You can wear whatever you want, just don't call the race it's originally from ghetto/unprofessional/wrong etc for wearing it as well. Like David mentioned (he brought up the same example as i typed). Wear whatcha want people.

Yo why does everyone group African countries together, Africa is very multicultural. We are not all the same, a Nigerian is very different to a Ghanian although we are both west African. I don't say Asians I say Korean, Nepalese, Chinese, Taiwanese although they are in the same continent of asia, they have there respective cultures and I respect that.

Because not everyone know every single country and what each person of those races looks like. All these cultures are diverse and unique but these cultures can/are officially grouped under a larger group for easier identification because this is a big world and there’s too much diversity to learned by one person in a lifetime.

Mmm no. There are many white people that go to Hawaii that try to "be Hawaiian", don't listen to them. No, it's very offensive to try to be Hawaiian when you are aren't Native Hawaiian. If you are from Hawaii and have lived there for a long time you are "local". Native Hawaiians were a completely different culture, and it is especially touchy as Hawaii got overturned and taken over by the US. As a white person born and raised here I would never try to say I'm Hawaiian. It would be like being in New Zealand and saying you are Maori.

2:30 - There have been most cases of 'cultural appropriation' where it's not a case of the 'culprit' being malicious or joking with it, but a lot of cases like the native American holloween costumes before, now the same happening with geishas, chinese costumes, Hawaiian cultural hula skirts, etc.

Speaking from a Filipino perspective... Never heard of that kind of Filipino name.. not common. Also, that vehicle that she drove is supposed to be a jeepney lol. Don't know what she's driving... Overall I'm pretty offended by her 'identifying' as Filipino because being Filipino is more than just what she watched on TV growing up; it comes with hardships. The trials and tribulations don't bother her as much as Filipino-born individuals because she was born as a white male. Like what you guys said, being transracial is more of a mental decision that's learned because you have to learn the culture first.
Y'all made me laugh a lot! Bart asking bout her being a nurse and scaring her, David cursing in Tagalog, Joe with his Francine and weebs, the lip pointing.. so accurate thooo. Y'all got sharp Filipino radars 10/10

And Jadu is not a Filipino name. Common Filipino names differ depending on the region. Filipinos from Mindanao who are of Muslim religion will definitely have indo-malay or arabian names while people from Luzon/Visayas region would probably have Western (John, Jason, Christine, Jessica, etc.), Spanish (Maria, Jose, Juan, Miguel, etc) names.

Going on a rant rn but..... So today I woke up and thought wow it's gonna be a great day! While I was asleep this morning I vaguely heard that my mom wanted me to do the laundry. So I did it. But guess what... My mom had the audacity to tell me that I turned off the bedtime mode on the xfi devices thing. Of course I got pissed that she was blaming me for something I didn't do, but I kept my cool. So I said towards her, " Mom, I swear on my life that I didn't change the internet times. I can explain why it might of unpaused my internet." (A few days before I asked my mom to bump up my internet pause time from 11 pm to 12:30 pm because of the holidays and I wouldn't be waking up early anyways) She didn't believe me at all... She started getting pissed and was like,"don't lie to me mister don't ever touch my phone again or I will cancel ur phone!" At this point I was pissed.(My biggest pet peeve is to be blamed for something I didn't do)I threw a pillow at the floor cause I was mad, but nothing dangerous and all of a sudden my mom starts being like ," Omg ur getting violentand trying to hurt me how dare u!!" It was over once she said that so I tried to be rational and walked my way out of the room. Next thing you know I see my mom getting into the car and driving away to my cousin's house which the entire family was celebrating Thanksgiving at. So basically she left me at home alone... (15 btw) So I stayed at home, listened to music, and read books for 10 hours... No food, no Thanksgiving, no nothing
    Best Thanksgiving I've ever had!

I made a comment on his decisions on a separate article:
"While I am humbled that he chose my culture to relate to him the most, I don't think you understand the concept of "race" my dude. Ethnically and nationality is a whole different thing as well. Bottom line: I am an American Citizen, I am Ethnically Filipino, and I am of Asian/Pacific Islander race. Which I do not see that.
Being Filipino. It stems from decades, to centuries worth of both ethnic and faith traditions and spiritualism, years worth of establishing honorifics in family in community, after decades worth of struggle from colonialism that built our language, our literature, our art, and our identity. To understand what your parents, and parents before that have gone through so that my generation of Filipinos, and the Filipinos still in the Philippines have a future to build set by the foundations of what they were given. There are layers when it comes to being Filipino, and as a man who was born and raised, bilingual, full blooded Filipino, there are levels of being Filipino I still get dogged on for not following or being aware of culturally. That comes from years of teachings and proverbial knowledge even after you're an adult. I call myself American now, but to be "racially" Filipino, to be of Filipino blood is another thing...
I am proud of Korean culture, I adore Korean music, food, entertainment, tradition, and lifestyles. So I learn their culture and their language, and want to be part of Korea's culture. However I don't blind myself on who I actually am on the inside.
I could be Canadian, German, or Russian. I can be a citizen, and be part of their system. However, I could never be white. There is just no way. ...but I am still humbled that you chose our lovely culture. Yes you are not hurting anyone, though uncomfortable. Allow us who know it very well, guide you properly, that if you choose to be a Filipino, or claim yourself to be one."

Filipinos are warm and welcoming. Generally speaking, we embrace all cultures and backgrounds. Like, seriously, we include everyone. We bring everyone into our homes and to our parties, picnics, fiestas, talent shows, church activities, and other family get-togethers. We have a culture that goes overboard when it comes to hospitality. So, as a Filipino-American, if Ja Du says she is Filipino, then I accept her as a Filipino.

Joe, you can wear what ever you want from different cultures. I'm a non-American and I never heard about this cultural appropriation bullshit in my country.
I'm a minority in my country as well. If a person in my country (not my native country but where I was born and grew up) wants to wear the clothing of my native culture I wouldn't get mad. I'd see that as respect. They respect my culture enough to want to dress like our traditions. What's wrong with that so long they don't take a huge dump on it or start talking racial slurs? Seriously never heard anyone be angry about wearing clothes where I'm from. I'm totally positive it's an American sensitivity thing.
Wear traditional African clothing if you want. Wear middle-eastern clothing if you want. Wear an oldskool French military suit. Who gives a shit?

ok joe about the “ ill call her a sir”, take it down a notch. transgender people use thousands of dollars just to pass and feel normal. thats actually really offensive to say that someone who tries to pass but cant, looks like the gender they are trying to leave behind. im just trying to catch what you said here and now so that other people dont get offended that you said that, and you learn not to. just please, out of respect, use the proper pronouns. honestly come for me in the comments saying it was a joke, but even the jk themselves say we need to tell them when theyve gone too far on a topic.

He isn't harassing them running up after them calling them an it, he is just addressing them as he sees them. Ppl have honestly mistaken addressing ppl and trans get angry about it. I have had experiences where I called a girl who dressed and acted like a male and i addressed her as him out of respect but she corrected me and said that she was a she. Another case where I called a guy a him but he got offended and said he was a she... though he looked male. I'm a horse but I dont make ppl address me as such unless they start forcing it on me

If you dont look at me head on, I sometimes get called mame, miss or often mamacita(lol). I dont take any offense and i find it rather funny seeing people get all flustered about it. And Since my job often has me deal with people i often get people who are pretty hard to tell If they are male or female. So i would just say Hello and avoid using Any direct acknowledged until i see their face and hear them speak. Getting offended by stranger assuming wrong only makes you the asshole andto me justifies Refusal to acknowledge what you want to be called.

Blue★ Are you transgender? if you are then you would know this would be very offensive. its different when youre talking about a transgender person, because they are trying to pass as the other gender, so to call them the gender they do not want to be is insulting somewhat. its basically saying all of the work they put in to be “normal” isnt enough.
