    This (and it's part 1) are by far the best videos I've seen on how to make a functional duct tape dress form. Thank you for sharing!

    The very best tutorial on making a dress form. We followed your instructions and it took us about 3 1/2 hours. We paused your video step by step, and we love the results!

    Okay, my husband and I did this. It’s a BIG job, took us days, and we had to modify the design a bit e.g., we added stiff support with a wooden plate through the bust line so the breasts wouldn’t collapse. Taping bra cups inside to support the breasts was useless. The bra cups are nowhere near strong enough to prevent collapse, plus the duct tape won’t stick to the inside of the form (which, as you’ll recall, is lined with t-shirt and plastic wrap). Now that the form is complete, I’m happy and I have something functional. Just don’t go into this lightly. Oh, and be prepared to cringe when you see a 3D version of yourself! LOL I just about died when I saw the pot belly. Sigh.
    PS We didn't use the kitty litter box. Hubby found a lovely lampstand from a thrift store to use instead. Works like a charm and looks nice, too.

    Very Informative! Thank You! I love The Beginning on Doing And Cutting out the Neck Part, and when I saw the other’s before I had seen yours I was thinking of a way to avoid having to be in duct tape that long with it being around my neck, and you answered my question, without me even having to give it a second thought! Thanks a lot💯

    I plan on using your technique to make a foam dress form. After creating the form with the tape, I'll line it all with plastic wrap then spray with a release agent. Seal it up with the pole inside, invert it and then fill with a low expanding foam mixture. Remove the tape form covering the set foam. Set it up on the pole, trim and then cover with a dress form cover. My daughter has agreed to be my "muse". I'm so excited to get started.

    • @robertsherman9975
      @robertsherman9975 5 лет назад +8

      Cat Chick-just a thought. Prior to making the form. Think about covering the Muse, with the really thin painters plastic drop cloth. Smoothing it as smooth as you can, with masking tape. It would be near impossible to get a smooth surface, trying to line it, once it’s made. Also if your planning on using the expandable foam, make sure it’s the rigid type. Keep in mind, you should make several relief holes, otherwise if you overfill, you won’t blow out all your hard work.
      Good luck and great idea !

    My daughter helped me, and I agree with 4adiva that the result is shocking :) I'm thinking of putting my dress form next to the tv, so when I get the urge for a bowl of ice cream I see why I really shouldn't. However, so far it has taken a good two hours to do the taping and I am in process on the rest of it. I, too, have been wondering about the solidity of the whole thing. Fiberfill seems awfully squishy - small animal litter (close to saw dust) would be solid, but awfully heavy. However, it is so much better than nothing at all - or spending hundreds of dollars or euros on a professional form that still had different measurements than I do.

    • @sava1606
      @sava1606 3 года назад

      If you can access lots of fabric scraps and can take the time to cut them into smaller scraps and bits, it would be sturdier than fibre filler while not being too heavy. Takes a lot of time though!

    Can I just use the tape dress form to make a non-tape version? After getting the shape and lining it, I can just cut pieces off and trace them onto a paper or something?

    • @Threads
      @Threads  3 года назад +1

      We are not sure what you are trying to do. The dress form is three dimensional, and it would be difficult to transfer it directly to a two dimensional piece of paper.

    Very comprehensive but why did you use hanger?

    • @oldtimerlee8820
      @oldtimerlee8820 6 лет назад

      So it can be hung from a closet rod, chain or cord suspended from the ceiling, or a bracket mounted to the wall (such as a bracket for hanging potted plants). This is an alternative to having a pole mount. Additional benefit is the hanger also gives support inside the form across the shoulder area.
      Hope this helps.
