The LeBron James Family Foundation opened the doors of the I PROMISE Village to its first group of I PROMISE families. Serving as more than transitional housing for the I Promise families in need of safe and stable housing, the completely renovated Village will provide a welcoming, family-first environment with family meals served several nights a week, a dedicated study space, an enclosed outdoor physical activity area, laundry and supply rooms, and a community garden facilitated in partnership with City Sprouts where families will learn how to harvest their own fruits and vegetables, yielding more than 190 pounds of fresh produce for residents to prepare healthy meals. The Village will also offer opportunities for residents to learn valuable skills including, financial literacy classes, healthy cooking, basic sewing, and home repair skills.
Within walking distance of the I PROMISE School, at the I PROMISE Village families will not only feel safe, but they will leave with new skills, greater confidence, and a brighter hope for their future. The goal is for all parents, students and siblings living in the I PROMISE Village community to use the time and resources there as a stepping stone to their next sustainable and successful chapter.
I loved when LeBron's mom asked the question "On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate your new home?" and the little girl answered "500!!!"
