Ven. Pomnyun’s Answer to “How to Deal with Uncertainty?”

Hi. Thanks for speaking to us. So I am a recent graduate of Harvard. I just graduated in May. I am leaving tomorrow for England to do a master’s program. I want to ask you about uncertainty and how to deal with uncertainty. So, for example, basically, the reason I am doing this master’s program is because I want to see if I want to study for a Ph.D. And basically, because the program is a year, if I want to do a Ph.D. next year, I need to decide in the next month. Let’s say, whether or not I want to do it, do applications, to get stuff, you know, basically to get the process go. But I can’t really make that decision until I go and see how this next program is going to be. The way that I deal with uncertainty in these kinds of situations right now is to think about the time frame. How much time that I have to deal with it, and really take everything day by day and see how things evolve. So focus more on the present and how things come instead of resigning myself to something that just kind of could say ‘I am going to do this in the future’. But I wanted to see what you might have to say about dealing with uncertainty in these kinds of situations.
This is the best translator Ive ever seen. The choice of words and his vocabulary is phenomenal. I am 1.5 korean as well but i can honestly say he is 10 times better than my translation

생태계 에 비유한 어미의 역할에 대해 명쾌하게 말씀 하셔서 좋았습니다. 그러나 그녀가 질문하는 내용은 혹시 혼자 아비없이 키워 아들이 자기를 원망하지 않을까 하는데 대한 우려에 어떻게 마음 가짐을 가져야 하는것 과 호적에 아비 이름과 싸인을 받아야 하는지에 대한 질문이었습니다.
“당신은 동물보다 못하다” “사람 자격이 없다 “그녀가 아이를 버리겠다고 하지도 않았는데.. 보호하지 않는 이유를 밖에서 찾고 있다고 말씀 하셨다.
엄마가 될 자격이 없다. 이렇게 너무 심하게 두번씩 되풀이 하여 말씀 함으로써, 어미로서의 마음가짐에 대한 좋은 말씀이 좋았는데 오히려 극단적인 비판이 마음쓰여 좋은 말씀을 받아 들이지 못하는 부작용을 초래할 수도 있겠다 고 염려되는 부분입니다. 통역은 오히려 원만하여 조금 다행이지만..
그러게요 애를 버리겠다고한거 아닌데 동물보다 못하다고 말하다니 넘 거부감 충격이었습니다
