Your dedication. passion. and sacrifice TabiEats we really appreciate it. Like after watching your 3-part train ride from Tokyo to Hokkaido video until then I realized yes you both can easily afford that Shinkansen to Hokkaido but your aim was to show others the most affordable way of travelling there. Much respect to both of you endured that stressful challenge. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to write your thoughful comments. It was a challenge for sure, but we really wanted to do this for you guys. And you know what? We had fun! Yes it was tough but it was also satisfying. :)
Now that is what I cal a true adventure.:))) You boys deserve a medal for traveling 15 hours without much break.:)) Can't wait to watch your next blog. Keep up the good job and stay safe.:))) xx
+Elizabeth P thanks so much! We are good. The earthquake is so unfortunate. The place where it hit is very far from Tokyo so we are ok. Thank you for your concern.
I find your videos about local train trips very fun and interesting I would love to do it myself one day. It sure sounds and have to be hard to endure but the view and the calm rhythm are charming.
+Bruno Guerreiro (Cosporcos) glad you like our train videos. We are happy to hear that because this is probably our most difficult videos to make. lol. Thanks for coming along with us!
It's wonderful to be able to see this! Thank you for showing us your train journey. The smaller towns along the way look great. The anpan bread in Kuroiso looked so delicious, as did the senbei you got towards the end. I love senbei and keep trying to find new ones to try! You must have been completely exhausted though. 15 hours is a long travel day. Looking forward to the next installment!
Excellent video guys! I loved the train travel series. I enjoyed it so much. I know it depends on budget and availability but when are you going to do more of these videos? I enjoy your videos from your home but I can't deny I enjoy them more when you show us Tokyo or other cities in Japan. Cheers
So fun to watch this long train trip and all the things you come across. Can't wait to see the other days!!! You guys are so inspirational. I need to expand my horizons on my channel.
Even tho video maybe old...im very pleased to had watched video thru....most all because i cannot see myself traveling outside nz....to these Amaz ing places and countries. Thankyou. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
I really like when you guys make these videos!! thank you so much for always going out of your way to make these videos for your viewers! I will be visiting Japan alone on vacation from the U.S. and will be staying in Ikebukuro from May 21- June 7. I think it would be totally awesome to travel locally with you guys. I'd love to talk to you guys on LINE if you are not too busy. Sorry to bother you, I hope we can talk soon.
+Nick Esposito how exciting!!! Your trip is just around the corner. We won't be able to go out of Tokyo during that time but can probably meet up with you for a day or two during your trip here. Please feel free to drop me a message over on facebook. facebook.com/Tabieats/
+TabiEats wow that would be really awesome! I will send you guys a message. I'd love to eat at some of your favorite restaurants. Japanese food and ramen resturants are my favorites in New York City (near where I live) and am very excited to eat lots of truly authentic foods. Thank you for your time!!
Thanks for taking he trouble to film the journey. Definitely helps alot for me who is planning to travel Hokkaido this Dec. Keep making gd vids.. you guys are great!! yr new subs. ;-)
Wow, this is an amazing journey. Several years ago I cycled to the northern tip of Hokkaido then trained it back ---5 days on the locals, but it was an adventure!
Cool journey.. I love trains. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun.. Really enjoying your vlogs. Trying to catch up on everything I've missed so far..lol..
I iust started watching these ive been saving them up to go on a binge lol That looks like so much fun reminds me of all those times going on the bus to mexico to visit my grandparents.
Guys, what a fascinating, entertaining journey! I wish we had a train system here in the Great Lakes region of the USA. Thanks for sharing the enjoyable adventure and delicious food with us!
+Juanelo1946 we are so glad we did this trip. It really was an adventure of a lifetime. Our train system here is really good and spans the entire country, letting you go just about anywhere. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
+Christine Frederick thanks so much! Our trip is over but we have lots of videos coming up. We're just not putting them up all at once because you know....we like to tease you guys. hehe. :)
That really is a crazy trip. You both are awesome to do this and share the experience. Fun to see, but I don't know if I could do it myself. I just had a visit to Japan and this time, we also took the new Hokkaido Shinkansen. The trip from Tokyo to Sapporo was about 8 hours of train rides in one day, which was surprisingly tiring.
+ASiteSeer oh yes! 8 hours is quite a long time! for some reason though, I think we are ready to do another one sometime in the summer! This time down south!
Oh i love these Travel Vidz of yours..I have always the feeling im with you traveling. So Adventurous.. Poor Shinichi you are really looking so exhausted in this Video ,but i surely will be too if i would travel 15 hours by Train..
+Ruthy Quiban Oh gosh. I was! I couldn't sleep the night before and I think I was having anxiety the entire week because of the underwater tunnel that awaits me at the end of this train journey! haha!
Awesome video! I did hakodate to oosaka with the seishun 18 ticket. Took two days with one night in niigata. On the way back home... we just bought a flight to sapporo because we didnt want to do it again. (Sapporo to hakodate with only local trains was still tiring) Your video made me feel nostalgic. :)
Missed you, guys! I've been super busy, love to see you travelling through Japan, but wow, 15 hours...best part ir always have some pit stop to stretch the body, buy something delicious, right?
+Amy Chou (AmichanC) I know right? Neither did we! It was delicious. However I think I'm going to review this one bakery in our neighborhood that I think is has one of the best anko breads in the world!
WOW that looks like a long trip! But so much fun, we love watching your videos. Now I am going to have to go buy some gyoza! The Sakura pepsi is so awesome I love it. The Anko bread looked amazing, so need smell and taste vision!! My daughter wants me to open up a bakery there in Japan in the style from the Kiki's delivery service since I love to bake. Can't wait to see what is all in Akita, how far is it from Niigata?
Ahahah seishun 18, right? Me and my friend did the same thing, first day from Kyoto to Yamagata, then from Yamagata to Otaru. It was really an experience. Love your videos!
Looks like a fun trip so far. I love scones with tea and milk😋 one of the local bakeries in my town makes white chocolate raspberry scones (which are my favorite💕). So cute that you guys have a pink Pepsi😃🌸.
+Christina Perez oh gosh, white chocolate raspberry scones sound like something we would LOVE. Maybe that's something we should make. yeah pink pepsi! It was a limited edition for spring time. Tasty too!
This looks like such a fun trip especially finding something to eat every stop but you'd have to be really disciplined to make sure you don't get distracted, otherwise you'll miss the train!
+bestbitesforever 💜 ahh really? Getting lost can be part of the fun! :) Actually this was a 6 day trip with the first 3 days spend on traveling by train. Stay tuned for the continuation of our epic adventure!
Wow!!! I found this video!!!...it looks old though...I didn't know you went to Fukushima!!!My family lived there for 25 years before we moved to Okinawa to evacuate after the Japan East Disaster in 3/11/2011. We took the same route when we once went to Hokkaido. It was a terrible trip for me, and, that is when I realized I had panic attacks. I felt like dying in the tunnel!!! But, that was my past...I have changed a lot now...Take care always💖
Wow 15 hours, and that was only day one?! You guys!! OMG have to say watching that warm anpan being slowly torn open was the most torturous moment of my day/week/month... Haven't had anything like that since last autumn when we were back in Tokyo😭😭 It looks sooo delicious and now I've no doubt I'll be dreaming about it all night!! Can't wait for part 2 though! P.S has anyone ever told you Shinichi, that you look so much like Andy Lau, a very famous Chinese/Hongkongese actor/pop star?!
+FoodishBeauty ahhh that anpan was fantastic! Andy lau? Did you know that I actually met him at a bar when I was in my 20s? I didnt even know who he was and he started talking to me. Then my HK friend told me he's famous. lol
Oh wow!!! What an amazing adventure for u two! My heroes. I wish I still lived in a big country so I could do something this wild and fun. For non-Japanese speaking visitors, I imagine it would be quite difficult to do the local transfers, is that right? Don't laugh but I had gotten lost once just going from Tokyo to Shinsoji. 😂 Hopped on the wrong train.
+allmyjm don't worry. Actually the Tokyo train system is extensive and quite complicated if you're not used to it. when I first came here to Tokyo, I kept getting lost too! Even Japanese can get lost easily! For a trip like this, I think planning is crucial because the trains don't run as frequent in the rural areas. We usually plan it at home weeks in advance so we know how far we can travel per day. We also look for certain places to stop and have meals along the way. So basically advance planning will make it doable for anyone!
+TabiEats Gotcha. Good to know even locals find the train system not that easy. The extensive network is quite impressive I must say. Advanced planning seems to be the way to go. I like how u guys planned day 1 so well. Can't wait to see the rest of your journey. And thanks for always being so responsive to comments! xx
Wise choice to avoid caffeine after being sleep deprived. One method to avoid anxiety before any travel is to trust everything is going to happen as planned instead of worrying for every little detail. In the second to last train you took it seems like you were climbing a hill, that is because the train was making so much noise from the engine and it only was a single wagon, train are not very efficient going uphill. Hope you enjoyed your travel ;)
+johnny chang oh yes, we could have been going uphill. I don't remember though because I think I was sleeping. lol. thanks so much for coming along with us!
Wow! You guys did something amazing yet crazy at the same time. :) In Japan, it's ok to eat in all trains or only certain types of trains? Because in Singapore, it's against the law to eat/drink in trains but it's ok to talk on your phone and such.
+TheGazeLove Yes it's ok to eat and drink on all trains in Japan. Of course you wouldn't normally eat a bento or KFC on a commuter train. I always have some water or tea with me on city trains. On long distance trains, people buy bentos and sandwiches to eat at their seats. Oh bullet trains, an attendant comes along with food and drinks for purchase including beer! When I was in Singapore, I always forgot food was illegal on trains so many times I had to put away my water bottle! lol
Ha..ha..ha.. I like it when Shinichi said cooly, "No, your idea" :-) What a fun trip! How easy is it to take local trains for those who are not familiar with Japan train system (like foreign visitors)? Thanks!
+G Hoshida haha thanks! Actually we never thought of taking the shinkansen as it's too expensive for us. However because of the shinkansen, this would be the last time it would be possible to take the train through that long tunnel connecting Honshu to Hokkaido with this cheap ticket, which is why we did it via local train.
That bakery seems a real jewel. I love when you can find good food in small towns. Waiting eagerly for the next video! How much did the travel by train cost?
+Isos That bakery was amazing! The gyoza we had was spectacular. For dinner, we had Kiritanpo in Akita, which is also coming up in a future video. The kiritanpo is very unique in that you never find it here in Tokyo. The train cost was 2300 yen for the entire day per person, which is about 20 US dollars.
When I can get some time off next, I'll try going north. Can you recommend some cheap hotels and of course good ramen and other local food places along the way?
actually we did eat a lot so those videos will be up shortly. We always use this place to book cheap hotels. It's reliable and is usually cheaper to book here than through japanese agencies. goo.gl/tO8HIz Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions and we'll try to help.
I love the trains the Japan. It's great you used local trains so you can visit places and sample their cuisine that most people would not visit because they would use the shinkansen instead. What is a good app that tourist can use use for train schedules in Tokyo?
Thanks for sharing your trip again!! How do you kill time on the train? Do you just look out the window? The baked goods are so interesting and diverse!! What is Fukushima like there now? Very curious...
+zoji rushi We sleep. Eat. Read. Work. Daydream. By the third day though, we almost panicked out of boredom during the last leg of the train ride. lol. Fukushima is ok to visit and many locals are visiting these days. It's a beautiful place with nice and friendly people.
+TabiEats That was absolutely surprising! Keep doing your amazing videos!! And thanks for translating the title to Brazilian Portuguese. If you need some help, just tell me!
Rodrigo Nakamura thanks so much for your help. Actually all our videos starting from the Strawberry Nutella Wontons are open for translation to anybody. There's a link in the description box that takes you to that page. If you like, please feel free to do one. We'd certainly appreciate it. We have quite a number of Portuguese speakers here and are asked to translate our videos. However we just don't speak the language you know. :) thanks for always watching and thanks for your help!
Wooooow! That's SO cool! I've already learned 3 things about Japan from this trip! 1) When I go to Japan you'll need to take me everywhere because I'll end up on the wrong trains FOREVER 2) Clearly I need to stay with you so I can eat all the food you eat. Everything looks amazing! *cries* 3) You're both adorable and live too far away from me. Stop doing that! ;) I hope you got more sleep Shinichi! Next Wednesday is too far away! Noooo!
+KeelyCanVlog haha. You say the most adorable and nicest things ever! by the way, we are still working on that dessert okonomiyaki. Yesterday we spend the entire afternoon making failure after failure. lol. Dont worry. We aren't giving up yet!
Hahahaha! I'm glad I threw you that challenge! You're both so good at cooking! I know you can do it! Gambatte ne!!! How is your trip going so far by the way!? Are you tweeting your days as you go, because that would be awesome! I need to live through you, so tweeting your days would help me feel like I was a cool person living in Japan! ;)
+astroboy3507 seafood is awesome but truthfully, a bit on the expensive side. But I guess it's really really fresh so if you're a seafood lover, it's definitely worth it.
Hi Shinichi and Satochi! Hope you two are well. When do you say it's smart to purchase JR pass when in Japan? My family and I will be staying in and exploring Tokyo for a week and then we are off to Hokkaido for maybe 3-4 days. We plan to visit Sapporo, Otaru and Hakodate. Suggestions are very welcome. :)
Huh 3 days?? OMG i thought it's possible to travel from tokyo to hokkaido in like one day? Or did you guys took the slower route? Because if it really took 3 days then boy my trip is screwed 😅 anyways, amazing video! Really can't stop watching your videos ahahaha
+jacqueline goretta tanoto actually we took the very slow route via local train. No express trains. So don't worry you are fine! Thanks so much for watching!
+TabiEats I hope you guys will talk a little about Akita though in your next video! I have an auntie living there, and have been thinking if I should make a trip up there to visit her the next time I am in tokyo!!! But the 15 hour journey scares me a little!!!
Julia Low easier and less scarier way would be to go by shinkansen. Much easier to tell you the truth. We purposely traveled the crazy hard way. lol. We really didn't get to spend much time in Akita this time around though. We only had enough time to get dinner (video coming up) and then sleep. Next morning we had to leave early. Sorry!!!
Actually now because of the low cost carriers like Jetstar flying domestic routes here, flying might be cheaper. If you are flying on the major carriers like ANA or JAL, doing it this way is much cheaper.
Hi Sinichinsan, i'm so fascinated with your train travel. I intend to do like you this coming December but there'll be 4 adults and 4 kids in my travel. My question is, how much did you pay per person for the tickets from Tokyo to Hakodate in total? And how tired were you? Hahah... Hope you can help me out here. Arigato!!
It took us three days to get to Hokkaido using this method and costs 2300 yen per person per day. We weren't that tired the first two days but the last day was tough. However if you guys have the energy, we definitely recommend this way of traveling.
I'm binge watching all the videos I haven't seen from you guys yet! I'm so excited to see everything!
+Chiena NG aww thank you so much! You'll be surprised at how bad the quality of our videos are as they get older. yikes!
TabiEats Still enjoy watching them!!!
You guys are awesome!
You guys are fun to watch. Love, love, love your videos and adventures.

TabiEats
looking forward to that! I'm definitely going to miss Japanese bakery, I mean it's very different from the bakery back in Sweden/Europe
+Tania LoNero The sakura pepsi tasted better than regular pepsi we think. Man that anko bread. Delicious! It's about 272 km from Akita to Niigata.
Hahaha so awesome!!
outside of a subway and freight train I've never been on a long distance train ride but it looks like a cool way to travel
+Lucas Musser it's a great way to travel. You see so much of the local areas this way. Very long and slow, but enjoyable.
Ahahah seishun 18, right? Me and my friend did the same thing, first day from Kyoto to Yamagata, then from Yamagata to Otaru. It was really an experience. Love your videos!

The miso bread looked really interesting. This looks like a fun, but exhausting way to see Japan!
+MikeTheBarber63 miso bread was fantastic! Loved it so much! Yes this 3 day trip was definitely exhausting but it sure was fun!
I miss Japan, but not the trains. I was always afraid I was going to get lost lol. That looks like a really yummy day trip though :)
+bestbitesforever 💜 ahh really? Getting lost can be part of the fun! :) Actually this was a 6 day trip with the first 3 days spend on traveling by train. Stay tuned for the continuation of our epic adventure!

5:50 (Sendai) my parents would’ve loved to have seen that sign on the train...✨🤙🏼✨
Awesome ! did you guys went during Spring?? Oh my ! three days trip !! WOW I enjoy it !!
Yes we did! thanks for watching!
Then my HK friend told me he's famous. lol
wow that was a long trip! hope you guys are well rested.
+mvccarlos after 6 days of traveling we came home and slept like babies. :)
love you guys!
+Who Key we love you right back!
And thanks for always being so responsive to comments! xx
I know that 6 hours on a train is long so i can't even imagine 15, so I agree with Satoshi at the end haha
In Japan, it's ok to eat in all trains or only certain types of trains? Because in Singapore, it's against the law to eat/drink in trains but it's ok to talk on your phone and such.
+TheGazeLove Yes it's ok to eat and drink on all trains in Japan. Of course you wouldn't normally eat a bento or KFC on a commuter train. I always have some water or tea with me on city trains. On long distance trains, people buy bentos and sandwiches to eat at their seats. Oh bullet trains, an attendant comes along with food and drinks for purchase including beer!
When I was in Singapore, I always forgot food was illegal on trains so many times I had to put away my water bottle! lol
Great trip!
+Mordechai's channel thanks!
crazy activity but it is excllent!
+tonyepc wong thanks so much!
Ha..ha..ha.. I like it when Shinichi said cooly, "No, your idea" :-) What a fun trip! How easy is it to take local trains for those who are not familiar with Japan train system (like foreign visitors)? Thanks!
+Le Genou de Claire Thanks for coming along with us!
You guys are awesome doing things with a unique take. It's the polar opposite of the new Hokkaido Shinkansen line, which I assume was your intent?
Wow! Makes my usual 青春18切符 dash from Tokyo to Osaka seem so short!
+Jason L. Gatewood we also did a Tokyo to Osaka Seishun 18 as well! It was fun!
When I can get some time off next, I'll try going north. Can you recommend some cheap hotels and of course good ramen and other local food places along the way?
actually we did eat a lot so those videos will be up shortly. We always use this place to book cheap hotels. It's reliable and is usually cheaper to book here than through japanese agencies. goo.gl/tO8HIz
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions and we'll try to help.
I love the trains the Japan. It's great you used local trains so you can visit places and sample their cuisine that most people would not visit because they would use the shinkansen instead. What is a good app that tourist can use use for train schedules in Tokyo?
Hmmm....that's a good question....let me see if I can find out. Are you planning a visit here soon?
Love you guys!!xoxo
+RosebonboM aww thanks. We love you too!!!
5am? Omg that's too early fro me!! I would still be snuggled up in my blanket ahaha
lol that Satoshi dance!
My mom was from Akita. Some day I would like to visit.
Shinichi and Satoshi, have fun in Hokkaido! Sapporo is my hometown. 六花亭で甘いものを買うの忘れないでよ!
+Mei Tsuruta oh is it? 北海道のスイーツは本当に美味しいよね!いっぱいいろいろ買ってきましたのでそれもビデオでやります!また北海道にいきたいよ~!
That senbei looks familiar! I think you had some in a Bokusu video!
- Portuguese? What a nice surprise!! I loved!! Hahahahaa
+Rodrigo Nakamura yay! So glad you liked the Portuguese! :)
thanks for always watching and thanks for your help!
awwww I wanted to see what u guys had for dinner
+spongebracket don't worry. That video coming separately.
+NejisMate ohh how exciting!!!
Wooooow! That's SO cool! I've already learned 3 things about Japan from this trip!
1) When I go to Japan you'll need to take me everywhere because I'll end up on the wrong trains FOREVER
2) Clearly I need to stay with you so I can eat all the food you eat. Everything looks amazing! *cries*
3) You're both adorable and live too far away from me. Stop doing that! ;)
I hope you got more sleep Shinichi!
I need to live through you, so tweeting your days would help me feel like I was a cool person living in Japan! ;)
KeelyCanVlog we love you. You have such a happy personality. HUGS!
awwww I love you guys!!
that must be so much fun !!! ;D
+Danisa Mishima This was definitely an adventure! Thanks for coming along with us!
of course. u guys rock!!! ;)
+Sakura Spring So much food! I swear I gained 10 pounds on this trip! lol
TabiEats I gained 10-lbs. just watching you guys eat all the delicious snacks. LOL : )
Hokkaido love to go there the best seafood there I heard!!!!!
+astroboy3507 seafood is awesome but truthfully, a bit on the expensive side. But I guess it's really really fresh so if you're a seafood lover, it's definitely worth it.
+TabiEats expensive I see thanks for that !!
Thanks so much for watching!
omg!!! 15 hours of travel !!!
+Julia Low yes! 15 hours! I could go and come back to hawaii by plane!
Sorry!!!
+TabiEats No worries!!! I can't wait to see your next videos! No need to apologise :)
Looks like a very fun trip. Budget wise, is flying over there or going by train cheaper?
Actually now because of the low cost carriers like Jetstar flying domestic routes here, flying might be cheaper. If you are flying on the major carriers like ANA or JAL, doing it this way is much cheaper.
nice video Japan is a great country !!
Thanks. What a delicious «anpan»!
+Rogério Portella oh yes! That anpan was so good!
+TabiEats thanks for the reply Sinichi san. I'm so jealous of your travellings, I wish I had the time to do all these travels like you all did.
三日間⁈? 面白いアドベンチャーだね〜^_^あんぱん美味しそう‼︎大好きだよ。i love hokkaido :) it's such a peaceful and nice place
+jamilaxaj うんうん。とっても楽しかったよ。あんぱんはめちゃくちゃ美味しかった~!
