Hi. I’ve arrange a test drive of the new Q8 e-hybrid in early Jan. It’s the same 3.0L V6 in our Sq5 coupled to an electric motor which is good for about 30 miles.
Hi. You're doing a great job, man. Congratulations ! Very professional filming !!! Can you tell me what camera you're filming with? Thank you master !!!
Rick…It’s a big bugger isn’t it. I love detailing both my wife’s SQ5 and my Q8 but the Q8 wears me out with all the up and down to reach the middle of the hood, roof and windscreen. The Daytona is beautiful and somewhat forgiving (my old A5 was Daytona). My Navarra Blue is about as difficult as black to really make perfect looking. Nice work. Cheers.
The undersides of the doors get very dirty on the Q8 so that would probably drive me nuts. I like how the inner parts of the doors are so well protected on the Q5/SQ5. I agree about the DSG, but this Q8 does have some evidence of light swirling. Nothing a few hours wouldn't fix. I will have this Q8 back at some point. This was just a nice "get ready for winter" wash.
@@RADGarage I agree the underside of the doors get very dirty. I pressure wash them which is fairly effective since they (the entire car) have been ceramic graphene coated. I have repurposed an older plush drying microfiber to do the initial wipe down and then use graphene detail spray to finish them. That’s one of the best things about my SwissTrax floor. I can get down on them without getting too wet during dry time. If you want a Macan EV to detail I’ll bring my wife’s up (after it’s introduced and released in the US) and catch a Flames/Pens game while I’m in town. Cheers.
@@RADGarage what about the carpet wheel arches with the hexagon shapes imprinted on them….clearly designed by someone who doesn’t wash cars!…I love the Q8 but looking after it is hard work, especially when it’s orca black.
hello there just discovered your channel thanks to obsessed garage. i am in Calgary as well. just curious how do you get around the Calgary residential car washing bylaw.
How did you like the auto foam? One good thing about my Q3 is I don't always have to use the bench ladder to get to the roof. That q8 is a gas guzzler!! Love the color though.
So, I made a mistake in the video and listed Auto-Wash as Auto-Foam. They are two different products. I used Auto-Wash and LOVED it, but I am really curious how Auto-Foam will compare. I will have to pick some up next visit to Carzilla, but I have a feeling it is only available in the gallon size. Oh well, I will still pick up a bottle.
I have both a 2018 SQ5 and 2021 Q8. You can’t really compare them. The SQ5 is fun and sporty but for longer trips the Q8 is very quiet and smooth. The Q8 at 5,000 pounds is 0-60 in 5.6 seconds versus the SQ5 at 5.1 seconds. Newer SQ5’s were reworked to get that time under 5 seconds. All that said, the SQ5 feels significantly sportier but I’d get another Q8 first if I had to choose. Next car is going to be the Porsche Macan EV in 2023. Cheers.
Well, there you go. An owner of both would know what he is talking about. I had a Q8 as a loaner a while back and found it highly relaxing to drive, but a bit too subdued for the boy racer that lives inside. I think I like the size of the Q5/SQ5 and will probably stick in this class for a few more years. I am always drooling over the GTS Macan.
@@porkorosso7885 The Mecan is great and just received a mild refresh but there’s an EV version coming in 2023 so the ICE version will be orphaned. Sometimes that hurts the value of the outgoing style. Might be different when going from ICE to EV depending on preference. My wife wants the Macan EV. Maybe Rick can do a video on her new Porsche someday?
Wow with this color, brand and wheel brand combination, it looks just like your SQ5 got a little bigger... Did you get a chance to drive it, and if so, would you ever consider purchasing this car, assuming your budget would allow for it?
I didn’t drive it but I have had the opportunity to pilot one in the past. Very luxurious vehicle and the experience is first class. I would need to go with the SQ8 or RSQ8 ($$$) because I have a very immature side that loves the S-level performance and acceleration. I had a 2009 Q7 and just found it a bit too big so I am likely sticking with the mid-size Q5 platform.
Thanks There is a channel that directs water to a catch basin. A lot of it does evaporate in the process but the remaining water is siphoned out into a utility sink inside the house.
I’ve gone to the multi mitt wash system that I saw on Apex Detail. It’s seems like overkill, but it sure gives me the confidence that as little damage as possible is being don’t to the clear coat.
That's my CarPro merino wool wash mitt and it is divine. A link to it is in the video description under the "Equipment List" heading. I know a few people who have it and don't love it as much as me, but it ticks all the boxes in my experience.
Thanks for the vid. What dilution did you use for the Auto-Wash? I've tried using it at both the recommended 1:2000 dilution (about a teaspoon) and 1 ounce, and no matter what, it feels like I'm washing the car with water. No lubrication at all. I had to have gotten a bad batch right?
I saw the teaspoon recommendation and laughed. I used 50-75ml in a 1000 ml bottle for the foam wash and about the same in the wash bucket. I always use too much, but I don’t care! 😂
@@RADGarage ok thank you sir. I was surprised, because so far Surfex HD, Auto-Foam and Korrosol have all been excellent from them. I respect you not caring about the dilutions haha. I've been addicted to dilutions ever since I found 30ML of Megs Hyper Wash was enough in a 4 gallon bucket. Is Adam's soap a unique experience for a first timer? Right now my rotation is Hyper Wash, Bathe and Reset, but I'm looking to add one other extremely high quality soap
Hi Rad Garage - I'm new here, I've just discovered your channel! Watched this video and I liked it, I enjoy the 'calm' car washing format so will take a look through some of your other videos. Question for you on this video, I see you have actually foamed Bilt Hamber Auto Wash, i.e. their runny shampoo (not autofoam), in your foam lance. How did you manage that as everywhere I've read so far indicates that it doesn't foam? How much did you have to use in order for you to get the result in this video?
Hey man, glad to have you as a new viewer. I didn't realize the Auto Wash wasn't the Auto Foam but it kind of worked out alright. I used about 100ml in a 1L canister. I have to say, the dilution ratios of the Bilt Hamber products is so complicated that I don't often find myself using them.
@@RADGarage Hi! Yeah, I can certainly understand that. I'm in the UK so i guess we are a little more accustomed to doing the PhD calc they are asking for 😅. But yes, you don't need to use anything like the brainpower for all other products on the market, its a very 'Bilt Hamber' thing. It probably also makes a difference price wise, I can't imagine you get it for the same price as we do. The quantities of product required can surprise some people so once factored in its not quite so enticing. From what I understand, I think you guys in the US and Canada commonly foam your shampoo(?), for us its really not a common thing, shampoo is only really used in the bucket. The dedicated, stronger, snow foams are what we tend to foam, interesting difference. I'll give it a go anyway. Cheers!
I did the calculations for the Auto Foam in a different video and it turned out to be an almost 50/50 dilution of product in my 1L canister. I may revisit it at some point, but the truth of the matter is I am getting inundated with products from companies and I just don't have enough projects or time to try them all. Plus, my cabinets are getting absolutely stuffed. I may need to do a purge soon.
@@RADGarage Not a bad problem to have eh? :) Do you think you will do a favourite product video for each wash stage category on your channel? Sounds like you'd be very well placed to give some good recommendations. Re. Autofoam, the quantities do surprise people, it'll be different for everyone based on their setup. But, it is one of its 'weaknesses' you could say, the amount you need to use. The benefit we have is luckily the lower purchase price which negates that Vs those that need to pay for costly shipping, import taxes and all other manner of things.
I am always playing with the idea of sharing my favourite products, but the simple fact of the matter is I like too much stuff. I don't think I could possibly narrow things down. I might just do a "This is what I use" video at some point.

I would need the S or RS and they are just too darn expensive! I like the size of the SQ5. Q8 is serious luxury though. Such an experience just sitting in it.
My pricing is dependent on a bunch of factors. I won’t even touch a car like this if the owner isn’t going to grant me at least eight hours. If someone wants me to spoil their car, they know I’m taking my time. ⌛️
Send me an email at radgarageyyc@gmail.com and I can let you in on how I price out my projects. I don't want to publicly say how much these projects ending up costing.

@@brucesix4583 Q8s are pretty nice!! I'm sure there are other things I would not like about it (gas mileage, for example). But man, Audi and Mercedes need to quit with the fake exhausts. Just looks wrong. But hey, I've gone electric so no more exhaust for me! Ha!
This is by far the classiest non-exhaust look I have seen. I don't think it is an abomination by any means, but I do like authentic exhaust ports. I see they bought them back on the SQ5 refresh but even they are not fully authentic. At any rate, there's a million things to like about the Q8 so the tips don't detract in my eyes.

Do you think you will do a favourite product video for each wash stage category on your channel?

Did you get rid of the SQ5 and get a Q8 or is this a friend's?...
This is not mine. I'm still sticking with the SQ5 for the time being!
one more video with RAD GARAGE quality.💯👍🇵🇹
Thanks Henrique. I have a package I have been meaning to mail out to you and I’m gonna do it soon!
thank you Rick 👍
New upgrade Q8 one day? I bet you thought to swap your SQ5 for this haha
I would need the S or RS and they are just too darn expensive! I like the size of the SQ5. Q8 is serious luxury though. Such an experience just sitting in it.
So how much did you charge for exterior and interior separately? For eight hours thats a really long time. Just sayin’
My pricing is dependent on a bunch of factors. I won’t even touch a car like this if the owner isn’t going to grant me at least eight hours. If someone wants me to spoil their car, they know I’m taking my time. ⌛️
@@RADGaragenice, so around how much for this one in the video?
Send me an email at radgarageyyc@gmail.com and I can let you in on how I price out my projects. I don't want to publicly say how much these projects ending up costing.
Let's just say I could buy a really nice Vyper Chair with what this one cost.
Such a great video. So therapeutic to watch! Great job 👏 ✨💦
Thank you. And, thanks for subscribing. You will find the vast majority of my videos are done in a style that accentuates the chill vibes that I get from detailing.
I see a vyper chair
It is so awesome.
You must have known I just brought a Q8 and now I know how to wash it properly :)
Congrats. You’ll have fun keeping those lower portions of the body and doors clean! 😉 Such a nice vehicle overall.
Not tempted to switch to the bigger Audi, Rick ?
Honestly, I like the extra space the SQ5 gives me in the garage. Moving around the Q8 was a bit tight on the front and back. Great vehicle though.
@@RADGarage Quite understandable.
👍💯
🤘
prefer to watch this kind of wash and detailing rather than those cars that are garage queen..
No garage princesses here. Every car on my channel does what it was designed to do. Drive.

I don't have any plates, but I will send you a decal if you email me at radgarageyyc@gmail.com with your address. 🤘
Ugh...fake exhaust tips.
If that’s the worst thing you can find on the car it must be pretty perfect. Also, makes it easier to clean.
@@RADGarage Fair assessment and certainly not a deal breaker!
