The effect of watch this artist make this calligraphy and painting is so soothing. It flows in the painting itself and also shows an enormous amount of grace.
At any time - no matter how many times he's drawn variations of this dragon - he could blow it. Especially when he's twisting the brush. There are moments when it looks like he's thinking what to do next, but it never seems to put him off his pace. That last little bit of calligraphy shows just how skilled he is with a brush. But the dragon's body and tail is a real showstopper - the brush itself is adding the details! Amazing.
+lovely Chelle Great artists make complicated things look easy ;) He probably trained a great deal to do it so smooth and fast, and to think he does this all day long :D
Undoubtedly, he probably trained under another traditional artist and finally developed his own style and art. He's probably repeated these images thousands of times in various poses. Amazing work. Thanks.
This is why learning calligraphy can be so beneficial. He was able to create the body like that because learning calligraphy teaches you control. You learn how much pressure to use to create the effect and shape you desire. It's beautiful to watch.
When you see something unique but your camera is crap....(no offense, seriously, maybe is also because this is from 2010) but the skill of this artist is impressive.... everything seems to be done with just the proper inking of the brush and a single gesture at a time (plus the blowing)....I felt well just by looking at him doing this!
+Kelsey Curles if he is an artist he could have painted the details no problem, its just the brushes allow him to cheat, other artist get the smallest brushes to master his effortless strokes but he has a cheat made for him
+mia nazir a cheat?? do you even know how to draw? This is called a "Special Technique" Its wayy more harder to master such a technique rather than just draw such stile with small brushes line by line...
- Invaders - i actually do know how to draw and second of all mr.knowitall, I'm pretty sure a "special technique" isn't just waving the brush on the paper creating that effect. think before u comment
mia nazir *face palm*.... this Technique is an ancient Japanese technique called "One Stroke" and yes this SPECIAL technique is an art of waving a brush creating epic effects just with one stroke....
your simple comment is funny as fuck, now that's talent. You made me spit my Coke out, and the only other person who ever made me do that was Bill Hicks.
i must find this man and learn from him. the detail in the body leading to the tail. the scales, whiskers, lettering....my god this man is amazing. i have to have a few of his pieces in my house!
When I was 15 years old in the 1960s and visiting the Great Buddha Temple in Japan, I saw one of these artists creating dragons using this technique. I waited in line as the rest of the group (all much older than I was) went ahead. I stopped and watched and then stood in line so I could buy one. It cost about $2 in American money (the dollar was very strong, then) and took about four minutes to make. I had to wait another five minutes for it to dry. When I caught up with the group, the were angry that I'd delayed them - until they saw my dragon. None of them had even noticed the artist. I still have the painting, now framed and hanging in my living room. People who see it are always amazed, even before I tell them the story.
I'm blown away. I love how Eastern cultures like Japanese and Chinese can take regular practices and make it spiritual in a way. Things like pouring tea and painting are in themselves "martial arts". It isn't just about getting it done, it's about HOW it is done. I love that.
So.. It is now proven that you can draw something awesome on 8-9 min. Right now I am ashamed to be a digital artist 20+ hours to make something like that ! Great job man!
wow, this is soooo amazing. hes reallly great.... i see someone else video tapped him doing another one. they found the same person... hes deff got a LOT of talent..... thanks soo much for sharing....
For those asking how she did the body in one stroke, it has to do with the way she loaded the brush with ink and the pressure she used to apply it to the paper. She's using Sumi ink. If you watch from 3:30 - 3:40, you can see her hand pushing down and putting pressure on the brush. That's what gives the dragon the scaled texture.
i like to say that you are a fantastic artist omfg. Ill buy that dragon, the problem is, its obviously gone by now. Fantastic work, even the writing looks phonominal
While painting the body, he stops slightly after every stroke instead of making a continuous line. That's why he goes very slow, the stopping gives the effect of scales. :)
somewhere in about 6:30.... she blows onto the brush and ... it just went unto the page really perfectly. .. what ink or paint do any of you think the person using? wtf just happened?
I was watching this video with my mouth open wide the moment he started to paint the body of the dragon! *____* I want to see the face of that magic making artist!
WOW, that is just amazing that had to take practice to do that. massively time to practice that.great work, asterpiece, how can I order one and how much! I love dragons!
I as an artist can say that I could probably do it too...... it would just take a buttload of time it's the same with japanese calligraphy they have the skills to do it quickly and beautifully. just stunning
for by scales, one has been measured by bueaty, for it tis not how the dragon looks by cultures, it is how one espresses there mind and feelings.- Kathryn 2015

That wasn't art, it's MAGIC! The way the artist made dragon's body was simply brilliant!
Blown away how he did the body and tail all in one stroke with all that detail of the scales! Amazing!!!!
The effect of watch this artist make this calligraphy and painting is so soothing. It flows in the painting itself and also shows an enormous amount of grace.
I was smiling the entire time :D and took the painting with both hands because I was honoured to receive such a masterpiece :)
You can do that with just one stroke?! (Body detail). Damn.

That technique for the scales... wow O.O
ikr! I was so amazed when they did the scales!

That is absolutely incredible! wow! That dude has got some talent!
And suddenly I have a dire need to acquire such a masterpiece and hang it on my fucking wall.
Best 8 minutes of my life. 10/10 would buy.
The art is on the confidence with which he paints. Fluidity and precision in every stroke. Really amazing.
That body stroke technique he used is flipping awesome! It's incredible how that much detail was created like that!
How the hell in 8 minutes he mastered this is beyond me.
It takes me eight minutes to draw a really sucky cartoon eye. How the hell.
+Kelsey Curles if he is an artist he could have painted the details no problem, its just the brushes allow him to cheat, other artist get the smallest brushes to master his effortless strokes but he has a cheat made for him

your simple comment is funny as fuck, now that's talent. You made me spit my Coke out, and the only other person who ever made me do that was Bill Hicks.

Wow, that brush stroke for the body was awesome. If I ever learn to paint, I'd love to learn exactly how he did that.
i must find this man and learn from him. the detail in the body leading to the tail. the scales, whiskers, lettering....my god this man is amazing. i have to have a few of his pieces in my house!

he's obviously following a formula, but he's spent years mastering and perfecting his version of that formula.
I'm blown away. I love how Eastern cultures like Japanese and Chinese can take regular practices and make it spiritual in a way. Things like pouring tea and painting are in themselves "martial arts". It isn't just about getting it done, it's about HOW it is done. I love that.
Holy crap this is amazing! They made the body so fast and it looks so good!
so amazing ... just the brushes and the colors !! .. WOW
I would love to see how you load the large brush. that is so cool
this is amazing. the man clearly loves his art. (i would think) puts a smile on my face, anyhow.
So.. It is now proven that you can draw something awesome on 8-9 min. Right now I am ashamed to be a digital artist 20+ hours to make something like that !
Great job man!
That has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life.
Wow, I love the way he staggers the brush to create the dragon's scales.
Watching something so beautiful being painted so quickly makes me feel like I'm watching a miracle :P
he did that in less than 10 minutes? this detailed? omfg this precision is just incredibly amazing D: wow...
Japanese artists are some of the most dedicated and disinclined artists around . They're techniques are insane lol
Breathtakingly gorgeous and beautiful! Just.. Wow!
wow, this is soooo amazing. hes reallly great.... i see someone else video tapped him doing another one. they found the same person... hes deff got a LOT of talent..... thanks soo much for sharing....

Easy
Daniil Koliesnikov 'grats.
Only the Japanese can make art look so graceful!
For those asking how she did the body in one stroke, it has to do with the way she loaded the brush with ink and the pressure she used to apply it to the paper. She's using Sumi ink. Beautiful
That was frecking amazing! I just got a japanese calligraphy set, and I hope to be able to do this one day!!!
that dragons body! and scales! MIND BLOWING!
Such talent! Wonderful. So beautiful.
The subtlety of the way he paints makes me feel so light weighted :O
i like to say that you are a fantastic artist omfg. Ill buy that dragon, the problem is, its obviously gone by now. Fantastic work, even the writing looks phonominal
While painting the body, he stops slightly after every stroke instead of making a continuous line. That's why he goes very slow, the stopping gives the effect of scales. :)
One stroke and he made the body with scales and a top and bottom side. BLEW MY MIND!!
somewhere in about 6:30.... she blows onto the brush and ... it just went unto the page really perfectly. .. what ink or paint do any of you think the person using? wtf just happened?
I think its just diluted ink but I'm not sure
I was watching this video with my mouth open wide the moment he started to paint the body of the dragon!
*____*
I want to see the face of that magic making artist!
Oh what brush did that person use to do the body!? Oh my god that was amazing!!! D8
The fact that he did the entire body in less than a minute just completely blows my mind.
What do the large characters translate to? Still amazed by the dual color on the brush and single stroke technique to get the body.
the word is ‘幸運’. It means "lucky" in English.
welcome to the joy of painting dragons, we're just gonna lay down a few brush strokes here and just like that, instant scales.
I would spend a year just trying to draw those japanese symbols. Very nice job!
This is beautiful. What quick skill!
WOW, that is just amazing that had to take practice to do that. massively time to practice that.great work, asterpiece, how can I order one and how much! I love dragons!
Wait .... whattt!!! Is there a brush in Photoshop like this?

The awesomeness is to great in this one. This message will (not really) implode in 14.7 seconds
And every time he did something new i just thought 'nooo stop its perfect, dont ruin it' and every time it just got more awesome.
Just to be more specific, there is this "more thingy" button that drops down the panel displaying more information :)
There is no way I just watched someone paint the most amazing dragon ever in less than 10 minits!
Amazing stuff. Why does watching this make me sleepy?
Eye were like O_O after he did the body. Great job!
I as an artist can say that I could probably do it too...... it would just take a buttload of time

for by scales, one has been measured by bueaty, for it tis not how the dragon looks by cultures, it is how one espresses there mind and feelings.- Kathryn 2015
