Great video. I’m fascinated with how scents throw. Part of the fun has been the trial and error. The types of scents and where I warm them makes a difference
Xizhou this video is awesome and I wish something like this was around when I was a wax newbie! Heads up I’m definitely going to be doing my own version of this video so I’m considering myself tagged 😅
I live in a ranch style house, so no open concept. I think that helps with the throw a lot. I have a scentsy warmer in my bedroom that I turn on all night. I don’t like my bedroom completely dark, but anyway I use the lower throwing wax because I only like a light scent when I’m sleeping.
I’m so glad you did this video! is it definitely helpful? I understand what you’re saying with the melts performing in the basement because the scent gets trapped.. It’s so interesting to me that the vendors that perform for you upstairs versus downstairs. I understand the open concept struggle. Great video, my friend.💜💜
Love this video! It’s so interesting to me what throws well in a one home but doesn’t in another. It’s like a big mystery to solve or even what the optimal amount of each wax is because I want to get good performance
3 mins in and i totally agree! I’ve experienced that diff home/move/scent throw. Knowing what works for you that’s compatible to others makes their reviews more relevant. 👍🏼
Your home fascinates me and it’s so interest what works where in your home. I think each vendor has a scent that they do really well, at least that is what I am starting to think. Very interesting hypothesis on the clam shells. 🧐 I let Keas sit for a few months. Her wax does not work for me straight out of the gate.
Interesting video! I so far only have found 2 companies that don't work for me - one commercial and one vendor and the vendor is a pretty controversial one. I tried everything I could to get their wax to throw for me - more wax, less wax, hot plate warmer, 25w bulb warmer, tea light, ceramic warmer, tin warmer, waiting a year+ for it to cure and then trying all of the previous steps again - nothing worked. I think wax type might be another factor. For example, I have always gotten great throw from paraffin candles, but almost everyone I hear talk about paraffin candles says they can't smell them at all. It must have something to do with our individual noses. Of course number of warmers/candles in a room will make a difference too. We all have different set ups and home sizes. I use 2 to 3 warmers in my open concept area but my house is very small. Some people have 8 warmers in their open concept. So many factors to consider and experimentation is really the only way to figure out what works for you.
@@XizhousScentStudio Yankee Candle still offers Paraffin candles. Most companies have switched from Paraffin to Soy like Goose Creek and Kringle, but Yankee Candle, Village Candle, and Cheerful Candle still offer Paraffin candles (to name a few). Cheerful Candle also offers paraffin wax melts. I will occassionally melt down a large paraffin candle jar and make my own wax melts also.
Also don’t feel like a vendor has to work for you because it works for everyone else. RG doesn’t work for me so I no longer buy them even though their blends are so fun. Knowles bakery is fantastic for me but it just may not work in your home. The trial and error is part of the fun of buying wax to me!
I totally get it that warmers and layout of the house matter for the strength of the throw. HOWEVER, I still believe that some brands of wax have a more optimal texture and amount of oil in it than others. Take Second & Spruce, for example, yes, it does have a couple of duds here and there, but I am yet to find a person for whom her wax doesn’t throw well. Same with SGA. While there are other vendors who are much more inconsistent in their performance regardless of what house they are melted in
As I’m listening and bc I’m learning how you track your data, now wondering how often if at all do you find a different throw of a single scent, different batch in same room/warmer. A scent you enjoyed the performance, that changed next batch.
@@juliebngracieandolive6750 I have had scent throw change between batches but not often. But I've also had one scent not throw for me, and I let it sit, and then it throws much better later. It's also happened that a scent will be super strong in a small room so I upgrade it to the living room and then it completely disappears.
@@XizhousScentStudio oh, and I’ve experienced a strong scent have completely unpleasant appeal w vaulted ceilings, and then in basement have an absolutely lovely scent/throw that I want again. I’m assuming bc the scent layers didn’t separate. It was eye opening to how relevant the condition/room/warmer factors are.
@@juliebngracieandolive6750 yes I recently melted a teddy Bee's scent that was good in my office but absolutely amazing in the bathroom (a much smaller space). Too bad I don't spend much time there. 🤣
