Also Dean had very good reason to be angry at her, that part in the inn where they went around town on that horse carriage, the last bit where you can clearly see her have feelings for someone else that wasn't you and that was just the start of it...It got way worse eventually to a point where she would find ways to hang out with Jess, like her and lane studying at Luke's diner, her going all the way to NYC to hang out with Jess, her kissing Jess at the wedding, also she was constantly lying to Dean when it comes to hanging out with Jess. There's plenty more than that and your telling us he cant get angry with her? If you actually watch the start where Dean met Jess for the first time, he was actually friendly, also in that scene she says "Jess this is Dean" and didn't even say "this is Dean my boyfriend" which Jess did notice and said "you didn't say".

I get that Rory and Jess had their moments but Dean was perfect for her. He cared and really loved her. Yes he could be controlling and clingy, but he was starting to grow out of it.
When I watched the show initially I was team Jess. They played off that chemistry between them so well. But having had similar relationships with boys like Jess later on, I can safely say no one needs that in their lives. It’s a phase girls go through. You know, dating the bad boy - but that’s all it is. A phase. He disrespected Rory and everyone she cared about through and through. He was selfish and unkind. I will say though, adult Jess really got his shit together and became almost too good for Rory. But strictly speaking about what happened when they were teenagers, Jess was a POS. And Dean was a saint. Rory shouldn’t have done what she did to him. He deserved better than that.

Ultimately it was Rory’s fault because she wasn’t mature enough to accept she had feelings for Jess and played Dean for a long time. And for those who have seen the series you know Dean changed and actually cheated on his wife with Rory. Jess may have been a jerk some times but is not on him what happened at the end.
Yes, ultimately it was Rory who strung Dean along and wouldn't make a decision, but that doesn't make Jess innocent either. From the moment he met Rory, Jess was putting the moves on her and didn't care that she had a boyfriend. In fact, he went out of his way to bully and mess with Dean, which he didn't deserve. Also Dean doing crappy things later in the series doesn't make the treatment he got here okay.
Cocogurlluv Jess told Rory that he “knew” they were meant to be together the moment he her. So he went out of his way to mess up with Dean’s and Rory’s relationship. No one blames Jess for Rorys actions. They blame Jess for his actions. Namely that he was, in Taylors words, a hoodlum. Putting aside the fact that he actively pursued a girl who was already in a relationship; he had a nasty attitude and a massive chip on his shoulder. He was a complete jerk who ditched school, treated Luke like crap, treated Lorelai like crap, and even treated Rory like crap, almost consistently throughout their relationship. Heck he even tried pressuring her into sleeping with him. He was awful; and it boggles my mind that people are willing to overlook all of this because in season 5 he came back to give Rory a lecture and in AYITL seemed to have pulled his life together. We've only seen him briefly in each season, we don't know what he'd be like in the longterm. Yet, somehow he's now the best of Rorys boyfriends.

Well they could've ended it well. could've made it more consolidated, integrated. Like what's the point of seeing a girl with goo-goo eyes dragging some guys one of whom was an angel, Dean? breaking his heart like that? Just because he was always there for her. If any of those relationships or that show was to convey any meaning (other than fickle randomness), one relationship should've resonated. you know when someone writes a great essay & they connect the very last sentence with the intro or how it all started? that's what makes an essay coherent, composed, meaningful- or anything for that matter.

One of the Best Gilmore Girls’ scene... I mean, even when Dean was the best boyfriend alive, they were not meant to be together. We all have that love in our lives that could be perfect but it was just not right at the end. Rory not falling for the perfect guy just makes her more human. I personally have never been attracted to a 'bad boy'(my taste is more on the sweet,sensitive type) but a ton of my friends and acquaintances have. The show got it right by showing that being with Rory didn't change him(cos part of the appeal from what I've heard is that they're good deep down and with love from the right person can be fixed), he had to take the step himself after losing her

I like how im watching this show on my 20's .. i have been rory .. the sweet quiet kid that everyone likes and expect no bad thing from .. she is a reflexion of that me who didnt recognize the rotten sides of herself, who would crave for everyone s appreciation no matter what, when she ran off to see jess in new york she thought it wasnt her cause she always perceived herself as the good kid, to her she couldnt be a bad kid, but you have to be both to be real .. im still in season 3 no spoiler please .. But jess is general is the emblem of what i would long for when i was younger, an intelligent, sarcastic and fascinating person. They had a great chemistry, and seeing her like him felt so real. Dean is a delight, he scares me when he ge gets angry, but rory seemed to want the heat rather than the warmth. I hate how she treated both, kissing one then never contacting him, dating one whil craving for another.. but she'syoung and i love seeing hef experience the intensity of everything.. i dont think anyone should be reduced to the term bad .. they all are complex and authentic characters, young charming people .. I always love and respect Rory, and in the last few months before she broke up with Dean, the truth is that Rory treated Dean very badly, but no one mentions him, everyone thinks Dean was the problem, if he made mistakes like everyone else (Jess and Logan), but if Dean hadn't finished with her, Rory would still hurt Dean, besides, I'm sure that if Dean had started a relationship after breaking up with Rory, everyone would take it as the worst and say things like “got over Rory really fast”, and that's what Rory did, it was instantly with Jess when she broke up with Dean, and they also don't mention that Rory kissed Jess earlier at Sookie's wedding, even though Rory was still Dean's girlfriend. People say that Rory and Jess were matched intellectually. Hence, why they were attracted to each other. That is one ☝️ component! However, you don’t always have to have the same hobbies or interests to be compatible with someone. Dean was smart in a different way. He and his father fixed an entire car for Rory. Dean also, tried to read some of the books Rory suggested him. He had other qualities that made him a great boyfriend. In the end, it didn’t work out with Jess nor Dean, because they each had their own personal lives to deal with. Jess had emotional and behavioral problems going on; he had to deal with that and pave his own way. Dean had a more traditional mindset regarding life. He was incompatible with Rory in that regard. Rory wanted to dedicate herself to her studies and career. Plus, she was bound to meet other people and ways of life comparatively different from small town living. Lastly, Logan was her best candidate. He was part of the same social class as her and changed as a man. However, Rory had other plans in mind other than marriage. That, my friends, is what we call life. Rory’s dream of being a journalist was more important to her. In the end, we have to decide what we are willing to sacrifice to gain something else. Everything comes with a price. You decide what’s worth your time.

@@sachah5454 Dean and Rory had lots in common though, it was pretty much just the books that they didn't have in common but other than that he loved their Movie Nights lifestyle...had similar taste in music aswell. Also Dean had very good reason to be angry at her, that part in the inn where they went around town on that horse carriage, the last bit where you can clearly see her have feelings for someone else that wasn't you and that was just the start of it...It got way worse eventually to a point where she would find ways to hang out with Jess, like her and lane studying at Luke's diner, her going all the way to NYC to hang out with Jess, her kissing Jess at the wedding, also she was constantly lying to Dean when it comes to hanging out with Jess. There's plenty more than that and your telling us he cant get angry with her? If you actually watch the start where Dean met Jess for the first time, he was actually friendly, also in that scene she says "Jess this is Dean" and didn't even say "this is Dean my boyfriend" which Jess did notice and said "you didn't say".

I get that Rory and Jess had their moments but Dean was perfect for her. He cared and really loved her. Yes he could be controlling and clingy, but he was starting to grow out of it.
When I watched the show initially I was team Jess. They played off that chemistry between them so well. But having had similar relationships with boys like Jess later on, I can safely say no one needs that in their lives. It’s a phase girls go through. You know, dating the bad boy - but that’s all it is. A phase. He disrespected Rory and everyone she cared about through and through. He was selfish and unkind. I will say though, adult Jess really got his shit together and became almost too good for Rory. But strictly speaking about what happened when they were teenagers, Jess was a POS. And Dean was a saint. Rory shouldn’t have done what she did to him. He deserved better than that.

I agree with this. I never saw the hype when Jess and Rory dated as teenagers. I didn’t like how Jess was rude and disrespectful to others, including Rory’s mom. As I’m rewatching the series, I do think Jess and Rory were great as friends and wish they were just strictly friends. I like the idea of Rory meeting someone new after the original series ended.

I feel like Dean was the perfect boyfriend for the firsts few seasons, and it was a shame that they broke up, but it wasn’t really Jess’s fault. Ultimately it was Rory’s fault because she wasn’t mature enough to accept she had feelings for Jess and played Dean for a long time. And for those who have seen the series you know Dean changed and actually cheated on his wife with Rory. Jess may have been a jerk some times but is not on him what happened at the end.
Yes, ultimately it was Rory who strung Dean along and wouldn't make a decision, but that doesn't make Jess innocent either. From the moment he met Rory, Jess was putting the moves on her and didn't care that she had a boyfriend. In fact, he went out of his way to bully and mess with Dean, which he didn't deserve. Also Dean doing crappy things later in the series doesn't make the treatment he got here okay.
Cocogurlluv Jess told Rory that he “knew” they were meant to be together the moment he her. So he went out of his way to mess up with Dean’s and Rory’s relationship. For example, he spoke bad about Dean to Rory, he over bid him with the basket, trying to get Rory jealous, and went to see Rory at her “alone night.”
No one blames Jess for Rorys actions. They blame Jess for his actions. Namely that he was, in Taylors words, a hoodlum. Putting aside the fact that he actively pursued a girl who was already in a relationship; he had a nasty attitude and a massive chip on his shoulder. He was a complete jerk who ditched school, treated Luke like crap, treated Lorelai like crap, and even treated Rory like crap, almost consistently throughout their relationship. Heck he even tried pressuring her into sleeping with him. He was awful; and it boggles my mind that people are willing to overlook all of this because in season 5 he came back to give Rory a lecture and in AYITL seemed to have pulled his life together. We've only seen him briefly in each season, we don't know what he'd be like in the longterm. Yet, somehow he's now the best of Rorys boyfriends.

I personally have never been attracted to a 'bad boy'(my taste is more on the sweet,sensitive type) but a ton of my friends and acquaintances have. The show got it right by showing that being with Rory didn't change him(cos part of the appeal from what I've heard is that they're good deep down and with love from the right person can be fixed), he had to take the step himself after losing her

I always love and respect Rory, and in the last few months before she broke up with Dean, the truth is that Rory treated Dean very badly, but no one mentions him, everyone thinks Dean was the problem, if he made mistakes like everyone else (Jess and Logan), but if Dean hadn't finished with her, Rory would still hurt Dean, besides, I'm sure that if Dean had started a relationship after breaking up with Rory, everyone would take it as the worst and say things like “got over Rory really fast”, and that's what Rory did, it was instantly with Jess when she broke up with Dean, and they also don't mention that Rory kissed Jess earlier at Sookie's wedding, even though Rory was still Dean's girlfriend. People say that Rory and Jess were matched intellectually. Hence, why they were attracted to each other. That is one ☝️ component! However, you don’t always have to have the same hobbies or interests to be compatible with someone. Dean was smart in a different way. He and his father fixed an entire car for Rory. Dean also, tried to read some of the books Rory suggested him. He had other qualities that made him a great boyfriend.
In the end, it didn’t work out with Jess nor Dean, because they each had their own personal lives to deal with. Jess had emotional and behavioral problems going on; he had to deal with that and pave his own way. Dean had a more traditional mindset regarding life. He was incompatible with Rory in that regard. Rory wanted to dedicate herself to her studies and career. Plus, she was bound to meet other people and ways of life comparatively different from small town living. Lastly, Logan was her best candidate. He was part of the same social class as her and changed as a man. However, Rory had other plans in mind other than marriage.
That, my friends, is what we call life. Rory’s dream of being a journalist was more important to her. In the end, we have to decide what we are willing to sacrifice to gain something else. Everything comes with a price. You decide what’s worth your time.
