I returned my Nano because the mic height was short and I often found myself having to hunch forward to speak directly, which was the only way to take advantage of its Cardioid pattern feature. It sounded great on Omnidirectional though but I might've as well gotten the Snowball if I kept to that. I got the standard version in exchange and I was a lot happier. Shame I couldn't get the Blue and Silver model though!

Yeah that's basically how I see it too. Most of the channels I subscribe to are only able to offer US only competitions, Australian ones seem pretty uncommon/rare, so figure I can help out a bit in my region sometimes 😁
The nano is more tinny. Had it and tried to record an audiobook with it, but will switch over to the larger model. It has “that broadcasting sound” as someone once described it. Good for everything else, just not my purpose.
Looks good, I also prefer the nano's sounds. I'm not going to bother entering since, I personally don't have enough use for one. Also long time no see 🤣

Sound designer/Recording Production Major here, the nano is better for anyone who wants a definitive answer from an experienced source. Yeti just happens to hold more recording modes essentially, the nano was a big upgrade for yeti!
Cool thanks for sharing, is that because of 24 bit with the nano? Maybe I should swap to using the nano as my primary mic over the yeti and not only for travel!
@@JarrodsTech Yup! The condenser capsules are essentially the different modes, the only benefit it gives you is having those two extra microphone recording modes (the stereo & bidirectional modes share a condenser capsule in this case) but however the most important practical effect of bit depth (16-bit vs 24-bit) is that it determines the dynamic range of the signal. In theory, 24-bit digital audio has a maximum dynamic range of 144 dB, compared to 96 dB for 16-bit but today's digital audio converter technology cannot come close to that upper limit. But as far as it goes now, other than the additional modes for specific workloads the nano gives you better Cardioid quality!
I actually prefer the sound of the Yeti Nano; the lower midrange (particularly 150-500hz) is more like what I expect your voice to sound like through a microphone. I'm not entirely sure why, but that's just my expectation lol...
Hello jarrod I respect your opinion and I have been puzzled between two choices " ASUS ROG Zephyrus S 1070mq " and the " Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 1660ti " So which one do you recommend?
I’m at the same crossroad, but also with the Lenovo legion y540 in that mix. Also all of these laptops have similar specs, and the prices are as follows. Acer 1200, Lenovo 1279, Asus 1315
Honestly can't recall how the Zephyrus S performs, you can compare results of my review of it with the Helios 300. I'd be leaning towards the Helios though, suspect that 1660 Ti will beat the 1070 MQ, but yeah been ages since I've had one to test.
I think if you wanna save money, have something a bit more smaller, and not really doing any serious audio work and just more everyday stuff then just get the nano
Original Yeti sounds a bit more nasally and the Nano a little hollow. Very minor differences though. Great comparison, I'm tossing up between the two atm.
The patterns are useful if you want to use it in difference scenarios, I just sit in front so never change it. The gain is useful for boosting it at the mic, but you can do it in post too.
My only issue with the Blue Yeti Nano is it has extremely sharp "plosives" (Basically S, B, and P sounds). But i'm going to buy it anyways because foam covers reduce the volume of plosives and I would get used to it anyways
Oh well I have one entry in the blue yeti.... I just can't bring myself to open twitter and facebook accounts and therefore miss on so many entires in so many competitions.. Hmm I haven't tested it with background fan noise so not sure how it will handle that. When I record I strip ambient background sounds with Audacity, but if you're streaming/talking in chat then that's not really an option unless there is software to try isolate your voice.
@@kashishrajput4934 Yes, I use Audacity to record all my video audio. There is a noise reduction tool you can use to remove background noise (like constant fan noise).
