Boxer's Omen is fantastic. One warning, however, is that they seemed to kill some animals during the making of it. Some of the effects were obviously fake and hilarious, but some of them were probably real animals. Maybe a chicken and a snake, from what I remember. I need to re-watch it again soon.

Now...have you seen the pseudo follow up, Hong Kong Godfather, with most of those people and Leung Kar Yan (sammo hung's the victim....another perfect film), and it is just as good. Trust me. Also....if you can find it.....The Canton Godfather (I THINK that's the title) with Gordon Liu. Not his best....but a lot of fun. You can tell it was just made to put Gordon in a setting with a tommy gun just to see how it goes. It looked like a precursor for things to come. Shortly after that film.....well, maybe about 4 years......he was stariing in modern shoot 'em ups that were crazy popular at the time. Look for the chainsaw fight he has with..... somebody, I can't remember who.... because it is really damn good.
What I want is some of their great sleazy supernatural horror stuff like Seeding Of A Ghost, Black Magic and The Oily Maniac. They should have a box set of just stuff like that and put The Boxer's Omen in that. Leave the first few volume to just the essential kung fu movies before moving on to other genres. Few people are aware that the SBs released some James Bond inspired spy films in the 60s too. Angel With The Iron Fists, Temptress Of A Thousand Faces and Operation Lipstick. None of which have ever been in print in the USA. I had to get mine on region 3 discs from China. My favorite SB movie is Intimate Confessions Of A Chinese Courtesan. I wonder if they will ever get around to that one.
Luckily I will have the money for this thanks to skipping my next VS yearly subscription. More money to spend on stuff I actually want and will watch multiple times!

I like to brag to David Lynch fans (I myself am a Lynch fan too) but it's fun being able to say that Shaw Brothers made a weirder movie than any David Lynch film. And that's the Boxer's Omen.

Mondo Macabro released a bunch of that 80s Malaysian mysticism stuff back in the early 2000s (The Devils Sword, The Warrior, Queen Of Black Magic, Lady Terminator). I grabbed up as much of it as I could. Hoping those films get a blu ray release in the near future too.They were all a lot better than Satan's Slave.

Everyone, Wait for the sale... if you have the patience. Wish these films had individual, respective releases but that would cost far too much money for each release. This is more cost efficient and you get way more bang for your buck. ✌️
