NS wants to use only engines of their heritage on these excursions, namely Southern, Nickel Plate, etc... The Atlanta and West Point Railroad, although played host to the Crescent Limited, ended up being rolled into the CSX system through Family Lines.
There is only one place that i know of where #290 could run, it's The Murphy Branch Line in Western North Carolina but it can only go as far as Natahala as it can't run on the Red Marble Grade to Topton and Andrews because of curve restrictions.
So this is where the 290 is. Nice loco and museum.
Awesome Video!

Okay and the Savannah & Atlanta is also part NS Heritage i bet S&A #750 would be a excellent Candidate for the program.
Loco at 2:08 is US Army 612. My late father ran her back in his army days when he was in the transportation coprs. I'd love to see her under steam.
I think the A&WP #290 would've been a good candidate for the 21s Century Steam Program.
@TVRM610 locomotive at 11:34 is the #612
@TVRM610 yes there is, us army #612 from cass
did you know that there is a 2-8-0 being operationally restored
Did you hear anything on the #290? Cosemtic or opreational restoration?
Is there any possibility for S&A 750 to return to operation?
@EMDX90 their intentions are operational though
@TVRM610 dang
@Strasburg1991 not at Southeastern
@TVRM610 the 612 ex us army 2630
Why not trade 349 for 750
Cause #349 is better than #750, hands down!
@EMDX90 Cosmetic as of right now
