Yes, the clay turns white upon firing. The casting was in the mold about 3 hours before demolding. The time will depend upon the dryness of the mold and the humidity in the environment. You can feel the clay in the mold to see if it is tacky to the touch, if it is, wait to attempt to open the mold. Typically the mold will open easily when it is ready.
I am quite new to a slip casting technique. Have made several plaster molds for casting porcelain. And had some success, but recently I have noticed that some of the greenware gets tiny pinholes and then, (because some cups doesnt have it) there are SOMETIMES also pinholes on the glaze. If i got it right, those tiny pinholes are the result of air bubbles or pieces of dust in the casting slip, right? But i wonder, do those pinholes influence the glaze? I am a bit confused, because some of the porcelain cups are not having those pinholes on the glaze and some do have. it fires hire than it should and moreover fires unevenly. pinholes on the greenware? I'm using the vacuum matching, but my slip viscosity 1200
great tutorial, except the temperature to which you glaze fire a clay should depend on the clay body and glaze you use and only a low fire clay/ glaze end at a 06.
Hi, I like this video.....very clean... and very good work. I am looking for the information about soaping the first part of the mold....before you make a second or third part from the Paris plaster. What is a good and safe way of soaping the mold parts ? Thank you Steve
We did dry the greenware before firing. The music is a song titled "Summer Morning" by Ricky VanMan and was royalty free music we found in an iTunes search. Sadly, I just looked for it again and its no longer on iTunes. However, I found it on RUclips! ruclips.net/video/n_3un4Rn6rw/видео.html

That's what I've been looking for! Looks like you could use any kind of plastic container that won't leak poor in plaster Paris before it dries press your coffee mug Intuit halfway then let dry 24 hours. Then press other side of your coffee mug into another plastic container What's halfway then you have two halves. Then pour liquid clay which is called slip into the hole that was left in the cast to fill the mold keep topping off and drain after about 3 hours for at least 20 minutes then set aside for about 3 hours before unmolding
Alguien me podría decir que material se utiliza yo tengo muchos moldes k me regalaron pero no se que material es por favor si alguien me podría ayudar serían muy amables
Edgar Aguirre hi Edgar you make it by adding water to clay and mix it with a spoon or I use a hand whisk until it’s the consistency of cream . And then your ready to go.
