What a joke! I was posted in Kashmir and know her and her people very well. All genuine Kashmiris are recent converts to a good religion Semitic-Islam from Aryan Central Asian Hindus. Thus they are the same people by blood and culture. Thus the Pandits (Brahmins) and Muslims of the Valley are the same people ethnically. The Muslims have other castes also (since Brahmins mostly did not convert to Islam and only few Brahmins did) other than the Brahmins. The Bhats (Butt) , Reshi, Pandit, Dar, Koul, Raina, etc. are from the Brahmin caste the Wani is a merchant caste (Wania), the Rather, Magrey are the Kshatriyas (Rajputs), etc. Then there are different castes which have been brought from outside Kashmir they are the Wattals (Sheikhs) and Hanj (boatman). The Sikhs are a recent arrival from Punjab and Jammu and are non-Kashmiris; they are mostly of the business and craftsmen caste. The Sikhs in Punjab have all castes. Example, they have the Kshatriyas (Rajputs), Jats, Bapha, Ramagarhia, etc. Indeed like the Kashmiris we only marry in our own caste. Glad to note Kashmiris are only marrying Kashmiris.
@Humair Dar That means even on Khechi Mavas and Gaadi Baati they don't have non-veg. So this must be a vegetarian Kashmiri Hindu, yes i have come across and heard of vegetarian Kashmiri Hindus. (By the way many traditional vegetarians won't serve non-veg cuisine even to non-vegetarians, but yes this might not be a rule.)
@Humair Dar Oh much like we see in some restaurants of Mumbai where non-veg and veg are cooked in different kitchens (not always of course). (I am a vegetarian and the cook of the houseboat in Nigeen lake cooked as though it was cooked by a vegetarian himself, with no non-veg masala in the food.)
@Humair Dar No, i read that earlier generation women avoided that, both Hindus and Muslims (I read this from a person who was in his 50s, 60s now). (Food even in non-vegetarians, was one major reason for ostracizing and discrimination among Hindus, sorry this is another topic.)
Peaceful people doesn't mean there is no violence and violence doesn't mean there is are no peaceful people. If KPs are murdered even after 30 years, then the problem is still there.

Why different Wazes (cooks) for Hindus and Muslims ?
@Humair Dar
Ok so Kashmiri Hindus (non-vegetarians) don't eat non-veg on weddings ?
