A friend had a Viking II and left it in his barn for many years. Unfortunately, the conditions out there really trashed it. He gave it to me around 10 years ago and it has been on a shelf in my shop ever since. You are inspiring me to drag it out and see about getting it going once again. It is a shame, because I remember seeing it back in the early 90's and it was a nice rig. Right now it looks like junk, at least I have a pretty well equipped shop. Thanks, Terry! Ken, N3GBW
Hey Terry!!! I absolutely love you’re videos!! I started watching a year back for how to do guitar tube amp stuff and boy am I grateful I stumbled across you. A year later and I find myself interested and the ham/receiver radio stuff too and I avoided that stuff. You’re overall purpose and how you tie the family in on the deal is truly what pulls me in. You’re father must have been a great man and you will forever have those memories and now we get the experience of him through you and the fam! I watch you, uncle Doug, Mr. Carlson’s lab and the guitaroligost. You’re top ranked in my book but uncle Doug is a close second. You have more content and your authentic joy that you convey through your videos is the beez neez. I’m a new father who’s come out of being a full time musician and your videos keep me going and give me the desire to carry it on to my son. Thanks again Terry and thank the rest of the fam too!! Marsh, Denise, shortwave....hell even the dog man!! Keep it coming.
Didnt know you were a radio ham terry! Only came across your channel a few months ago over an amplifier repair. Brilliant setup youve got there and your works 1st class! Hope to hear you over the coax sometime. De. MI3OIB
Awesome vid and repair Terry. Only problem is my DX-60a. Just restored it. It's beautiful inside and out. Got a crystal for 3.885. I wanna work AM. Was gonna fire it up and test it - until I saw your vid. Now I don't like my DX-60 anymore! It's ok to look at - pristine. But I wanna work REAL AM. I'm not even gonna go there with my FTdx3000. 73 OM
Wanting to pick up a Valiant hopefully during Xenia hamfest and give the Johnson's a try I'm currently running a Collins 32v1 paired with the 75a2 a1 is undergoing repair.
from hammond specs on 124B Should not be used for single ended applications. They have no gap for DC bias current present in SE mode. same as original interstage transformer. Its necessary to get the driver plate current out of the primary as I said before. the splatter problem in the johnson is not the transformers fault its a design mistake.
I noticed your New technology Hakko. I use my 888D everyday. For what I normally do it performs fine. On the other hand people are bringing more and more electronic equipment for repair with big heatsinks.I would like to know if these newer irons are worth the investment. Thanks 73s

No cap on the secondary of the 124B?
Nice. Thank you.
Nice vid, and we got some Marsha as bonus! Now if we just had a shot of that Snow Pig rolling in it...
my Johnson hasn’t worked in years....I doubt you could fix it

Terry, the shakes happen when your alcoholism says you better have another drink. Change it to grape juice, we'll never know.
Wire clippers are better than needle nose. Go to harbor freight and get some hemostats
Only work with your own Johnson, Terry.
Forget that straw, get that funnel out and start pouring.
You created a problem Terry for you failed on one of Mr. Carlson's rules, never hook and loop. HiHi
First! Lol always wanted to do that.
