    History of the old market of Qom

Of course, the old market of Qom is made up of different sections and has two rows and a number of caravanserais, and its construction began before the Safavid period and continued until the end of the Qajar period. The new market of Qom was built during the time of Naser al-Din Shah, the Qajar king (1831-18896). The development of this market continued in the first years of the Pahlavi dynasty (1979-1995). During the Iran-Iraq war, the old bazaar was partially destroyed.
    Architecture of the old market of Qom
    The old market of Qom consists of two parts, old and new. The old part with a very magnificent texture is located on the eastern side of Taleghani street, and the new part of the market includes the expansion of this part to the north. The old bazaar and the buildings around it belong to the period before the Safavid period, but the architecture, design and general structure of the new parts are more related to the Safavid and Qajar periods. The important parts of the old market of Qom are as follows: The old market part includes a collection of the entrance of the Razavieh School, the Saboniha Mosque, the Forty Pillar Mosque, and the porch and minarets of the Qasiya School. The new part of the market consists of all the surrounding alleys and Haj Asgar Khan bath. The buildings around it belong to religious places and are being exploited. As mentioned earlier, some parts of the market belong to the Seljuk and Ilkhanid periods. Part of these alleys and surrounding schools are generally dedicated. In the inner part of the bazaar, the domes have skylights that direct a beam of light into the bazaar in a very attractive way. The facade of some parts is brick and some parts are plaster, and yet this simplicity has given this market an effect full of grace and purity.
