TBH, there was no good wheel in nodejs for the fetch API so it did make sense. A lot of other APIs that don't exist in both envs (BE & FE) needs to be recreated all the time.
@@chaitanyakulkarni6416 tech quickie is more like the 100 seconds series. This is about breaking news in the dev world so I think it's closer to TechLinked tech news
Literally same for me. Was trying to figure out how to add live point updates for the frontend of a CTF website I was making this morning and found the standard fetch. Fast forward 3 hours and I get on RUclips to find this uploaded an hour ago. Would’ve been nice then lol
It's great that they've added, about time! Regarding Axios it's the nice wrapping API that will make it stay for a long time still. I chuckled at the "uplifting news" at the end hehehe
I love these short and to the point videos, gives us room to research more on our own if it interests us and it doesn’t take 10 min to get to a point I could careless about. Keep it up it’s awesome!
Third-party packages will still do well coz most of the online code tutorials and stackoverflow answers will contains these oldies-goldies. A good Dev will copy without thought.
Love your videos man. Could you do an OAuth 2.0 in 100 seconds video? I'm having trouble understanding the difference between access token and refresh tokens, and your videos seem to always explain them to me in a straightforward, intuitive manner. Thanks!
I see your vids in my recommended all the time.. This is the first one I clicked on. Coding news is fantastic... I'm also a js/nodejs dev so I feel this. I did not know node provided top-level async now. Learned two things! Will probably still keep going with the good ol' async function init() though.
Bob, he was a good man. Sidenote: is it prudent to switch to undici now in projects? Seems like a good practice; not only it kills some dependencies, but it also is as close to the future native fetch. 🤔
Finally! node-fetch v3 did a harakiri by going full-ESM-only mode, so it is practically unusable anymore. Axios always seemed to be a huge overkill for any task. And unfortunately doing it with the existing previously available standard library methods was too cumbersome since you had to string the bits together manually each time.
the one from undici is completly written from scratch and has no dependencies, i expect undici to complete replace the current node http and https module
These videos are so entertaining to watch. Even though I am not specifically here for the JS knowledge, the video is entertaining to watch regardless. I love this channel!
One thing to note about fetch is that you still have to handle HTTP error statuses (>4xx) on your own. These don't fall into a catch block like you'd expect. Axios handles this for you.
AFAIK, the biggest advantage of Axios is that it's stoppable. You can't interrupt an ongoing fetch, but you can interrupt an ongoing Axios request (e.g. on user request)
I would watch this everyday. Even more than that, if you could have dedicated tech news reports for different spheres (node, Python, data sci, data eng, etc) that would be the epitome of awesome
_"JS developers are famous for their ability to reinvent the wheel"_
I have never felt so personally attacked!
it's true tho LOL
How many differnet frameworks have you used this Month alone? Yes I know its only the 4th
you just insulted my entire race... but yes
and yet so accurately described... hahah
TBH, there was no good wheel in nodejs for the fetch API so it did make sense.

Love this new format!
Pleeease keep doing code report!
couldn't agree more, we need 60 seconds breaking news about the world wide code
Agreed 👍
Fireship is the only dev channel I watch for entertainment as well as information, every video a 10/10
It's like LTT tech news for devs! I love this series! Keep it up please 👍

with less screaming
@@PyraptorI guess there had to be some downsides ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And less shilling for products, lol.
One of few channels I don't watch in 2x speed because all the prime content and value packed in. RIP Bob
Me too. But some channels need a 3x speed
It's already pretty fast. Not sure if I could keep up on 2x
Fireship as a beginner in programming I have to say you've helped greatly in learning.
Also this new series is amazing
Yeah you are right
I think you should do code report every week to summarize the news! it's really useful and entertaining
The end of this Code Report was the most uplifting news ending I think I've ever experienced!
Mission Accomplished!
Ignore the bot, do not call it under any circumstances
I love this new series! Can't wait for the next code report!
I was just messing around with the fetch function in NextJS and then I saw this video in my subscription list. He always knows what I'm searching for

Thanks for the positive note at the end, that cheered me up a lot!
The uplifting news at the end 😂.
Undici is a great and very fast fetch implementation, glad it will become part of nodejs!
Third-party packages will still do well coz most of the online code tutorials and stackoverflow answers will contains these oldies-goldies. A good Dev will copy without thought.
'Always copy paste blindly" 🙏
Love the new format , love the information and memes balance , good enough to make it fun and keep my attention, good job buddy

"JavaScript developers are famous for their ability to re-invent the wheel" this line absolutely killed me🤣

Visuals at 0:03 are sick. You never fail to amaze me, Jeff
my dude pumping videos this week, almost the same amount of javascript framework's created this week
Loved the closing breaking news. Love this channel
Love the code report. I need these as fast as you can make them Jeff.
The dog in the thumbnail is probably biggest reason I clicked this video. So floofy, so adorable.
That Mean Girls reference was ordained by the heavens. Outstanding.
Love the code report... can't wait to see more
love the code report idea, cant wait to see how this series evolves
I love the uplifting news in the end! Keep up the good work! 💪
Everyone: Hello world
Fireship: Hi mom
"Mom is the world to me" 🧡
What a good news to end the video with. Loved it!!!

yeah i only have to use http and https module when doing smartass coding tests
"News you can.. Use"
Best intro. Please don't change
Ah thank goodness for that uplifting end.
0:05 First time a news "channel" describing itself properly
How is the `fetch` from `undici` different from the one in `node-fetch`?
From what I understand... node-fetch is not exactly "to spec". Undici is built by the node team.
`undici` is made by and for Node, thus not reliant on third parties 👍
the one from undici is completly written from scratch and has no dependencies, i expect undici to complete replace the current node http and https module
That final news was really uplifting
sir the animations and gifs in ur videos have me rolling
omg i needed that, thank you
🤣🤣🤣
The tongue in cheek humor made this a good start to my morning. 😄😄
HELL YES THE FORMAT IS CATCHING FIRE...ship.
Also the "Stop trying to make fetch happen" joke, perfect.
The code report is now my only source of news
Holy crap. The most perfect use case for the "Stop trying to make 'fetch' happen. It's not going to happen" meme XD
the uplifting news in the end is brilliant
I was really uplifted by the uplifting news!
The ending 🤣🤣🤣
I love this new segment, code report.
Also did you say "uplifting" news LOL.
I open RUclips just to see if you have videos up. For the first time the bell icon has a use case. Keep it up thanks for the vids!
the last news was really uplifting.. That made my day..
I used to watch this channel for programming knowledge, now I use it as an antidepressant 🙃
I wasn't feeling too good today but I'm so glad you added a positive ending to this report, thank you.
When an informative tech video is funnier than the typical standup comedy, it is job well done.
Damn, Meta down by 25% what the heck did Mark did now, trying to steal every companies private land/data? 😂😂😂😂😂
*Every companies virtual land data
Apple's restrictions on facebook apps

Love this thing. Keep coming these news reports. ' News that we can use'
These videos are so entertaining to watch. Even though I am not specifically here for the JS knowledge, the video is entertaining to watch regardless. I love this channel!
Seeing FB crumble is really the best news from all the stuff you conveyed in the vid.
Jeff is still my favourite tech youtuber!
Thank you for such short yet very informative way of sharing knowledge combined with humor
That I call an **ENTERTEMENT**
Please make this format as a weekly upload, everything in tech for all kinds of developers and tech startups
Date announcement at the beginning is good 🙌
I like the way you say "mmbut"
First 100s seconds videos, now these new awesome code reports. Every serious developer should subscribe to you

well i really didn't understand anything from video but i always enjoy this series
Keep making these news bits! They are entertaining and insightful! :)
One thing to note about fetch is that you still have to handle HTTP error statuses (>4xx) on your own. These don't fall into a catch block like you'd expect. Axios handles this for you.
I don't expect, I prefer not having to have a forced catch block. Thanks for the heads-up.
Im really enjoying the code report! Are you thinking of making a separate code report channel?
Would be cool to have a series similar to this format, something like daily tech report!
Ignore the bot, do not call it under any circumstances
Your video editing is impeccable.
okay the mean girls reference was brilliant 😂
The last part is gold
All CS classes should start with a daily episode of the Code Report
You are killing IT, respect!
Please keep doing these, and also keeping them this short and concise
This series is amazing just pure new goodness 👌
The jab at Zuckie is an instant classic.
‘I don’t want to end this video on a sad note…’ Comedic gold!
This is a great series! Also a big fan of you not being a fan of Zuck :D
If you keep making these "The Code Report" videos I wont have a choice anymore.
I would have to sub
love the uplifting good news at the end 💜
AFAIK, the biggest advantage of Axios is that it's stoppable. You can't interrupt an ongoing fetch, but you can interrupt an ongoing Axios request (e.g. on user request)
I love the the Zuck sucks bit in the end, it cracked me up 😂😂😂
Wow! Basically you will be getting isomorphic fetch with nodejs 18. Very cool.
Love the New Format of videos, will be expecting more.
Bob's last words and The uplifting news 😅
Please do this as often as possible, loved the format
Living the code report videos. News you can.. use
That mean girls clip at 0:38 could not have been any more on point
I was watching your ThreeJS tutorial when I got a notification for this video.
Nice, would love to see more of this! 😃
loving this news format 📰
I would watch this everyday.
