With only a few days experience driving a tractor and being the careless teenager that I was 50 some years ago, I got the idea to coast down a long winding highway. I didn't realize that a slow tractor could go that fast and once it does - well, screaming doesn't help at all. Without a doubt I had a guardian angel that day.
Merry Christmas Doug your a blessed man with beautiful property and some nice toys
Thank you!
Stay safe.
L O L 😆😂 God I know what that feels like Doug. Thanks for joining me in the (That smarts) movement. you’re a good sport, my friend you have yourself a merry Christmas.
Yea, and I was even trying to not hit it. OUCH!
Merry Christmas!
My scary story was carrying an IBC tote of firewood down the driveway in 2 wheel drive. Back tires cam up off the ground and I started freewheeling down the driveway on just the front tires. Tried hitting the breaks but on a tractor the breaks are only on the rear tires which were now up off the ground and rendered useless. Was moving too fast at this point to drop the load so just had to ride it out to the bottom and hope for the best. Lucking I was able to keep the wheel straight and made it to the bottom unscathed.
You forgot the part where you $hit your self.😂😂
@@OneEyeCustomsshhh that was his and the tractors secret 🤣😂🤦♂️
My “learning experiences” can be summarized as “Stupid Kid….Lucky Man”. Enjoy the new hunting site, Doug. 👍
We had a 1984-85 Honda TRX 125. Balloon tires, no suspension. I was jumping an irrigation ditch in a cornfield trail for a whole spring and summer. They started logging in the fall and used the ditch as a guide rail, which meant there were two brand new skidder tracks in my landing zone… front tires fell into the skidder rut, I went endo and into the second rut the Honda landed on top of me.
Beautiful property!
Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!
Moving dirt+telling stories=great time!
The side swing replay 😂
I laughed the hardest I have in a while. Between the 6’5” jabs and the side swing slam, that was very entertaining! Was it me or was it ever so slightly bent after? I couldn’t tell, but I hope it’s not and keep the entertainment coming!
Not bent that I could tell. Still functions great.
Your dad did quite a bit of work for me with the old Case backhoe and his dump truck when you and your brothers were just little boys. I do miss Bill he was a good guy.
Thank you and have a very merry Christmas!
Happy holidays Doug!!
Thanks and same to you!
Always pay for an education.
Almost wrecking a case loader Obviously taught you a lesson.
When I got my first tractor a used Yanmar 24 diesel tractor I would get stuck in low muddy areas on the property. I would walk over to neighbors steel service business, they had bigger tractors, to ask for tow to get “unstuck”!
Walking in their shop it got to point, when they saw me, questions was, you stuck again!
Ive since built stream crossings and learn where NOT to go with tractor.
Haven’t had to ask. For help for 15 or 20 years. LOL!
Back in the late 70's I started a welding company. One of my first large jobs was to replace steel beams on a city owned bridge. I borrowed my father-in-laws large rubber tired backhoe. We would remove sections of 5" bar grating (the bridge flooring), then back up to the edge of what was removed then extend the backhoe boom to the center of the next beam that was to be removed. Once the beam was chained up I would drive the backhoe forward and off the bridge for loading the bad beams onto a trailer. The bridge was over 200 feet long, two lanes wide, and 15 feet above the river with 5 feet of water. Did the same thing for weeks, back up to the edge of the flooring and reach out to remove and replace lots of rusted out steel beams. After the job was finished I used the backhoe at my house to dig footers for an addition to my house. Fifteen minutes into using the hoe at my house I was back up and the clutch linkage came apart and it took me several feet before I was able to get the engine shut off and the hoe stoped. If this would have happened on the bridge I would have backed off the bridge and into the water. When this happened I sat there shaking thinking what could have been my last day. Robin from Philipp, WV.
WOW, scary story!! Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful hunting spot Doug. I am looking forward to seeing the blind movement to the spot. It should be very interesting. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Bill H from Cranberry Township
Side swing 😂🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yea, ouch!!! 😣
That’s a scary story about rolling the backhoe.
About 12 years old i was driving our old j d m a couple miles down the road from one hayfield to another and going down a fairly steep hill I pushed the clutch in to get there quicker and that old tractor didn’t like the higher speeds and the front tires started bouncing about 2 feet off the road, good thing it was still in gear i able to get her slowed down, never did that again
Pretty similar to what I did…
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
Thanks and you as well!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, blessings
Same to you!
We have a Case backhoe. When I rented an excavator this past summer the first thing I did was swap the controls. Old habits die hard for sure.
I can’t switch my brain as fast as I can switch the control lever.
Thanks for the story Doug, you've had a few close calls!! Awesome to have both of those machines to use. Goals someday, have a Merry Christmas!
Loving the swing shots!
My learning experience operating equipment wasn't when I was a kid. I was just a few years ago moving round bales of hay with my Case IH 5230 4x4 cab tractor. I had 2 bales on the bale spear, I was coming into the wagon on a slight downhill making a bit of a turn. I started to lift as I was going down hill and turning and I felt the back end coming up. Luckily I reacted fast enough to lower the bales back to the ground and I was ok. My son's father-in-law was watching on from a distance and he thought I was going over. After that I always carried low until I was right up to the wagon and only 1 bale at a time. Dave
Merry Christmas !!! 🎁🎄 ❤🍺
Thanks, and same to you!
It’s going to look great Doug! All the best from IA! Merry Christmas to all! 🎄
Happy holidays!
I think most people who've grown up in the country have stories about some "learning" experiences. I hope you have/had success in your hunt. I'm going for freezer meat during our muzzleloader season (not flint lock). Merry Christmas!
Good luck and merry Christmas to you as well!
Merry Christmas Doug!! Enjoy the season and have a Happy New Year!
Thanks, you too!
Doug, got some nice dirt to dig! But, sure have a lot of trees to maneuver around.
Pretty good that ya only smacked one!
Would you put a vapor barrier down over that dirt before setting the blind?
Nope, the blind will be on blocks, stay tuned.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Same to you!
Not the only one that’s stuck on backhoe controls, I’m smooth on backhoe controls, I’m a hazard on excavator controls 😂
If it weren't for learning experiences, I'd have no experiences at all. Thank God I'm hard headed.
Doug when you go back in the woods with either skidloader or hoe.... 1 machine at a time, could you rig up a hitch to load the trailer and 2nd machine to take with u and have tgem both to save a little time, fuel??
I have thought of that many times!!!!
Can you please let me know if your track cleaner is available for purchase.
I am out of stock on them and raw material prices as well as shipping costs makes them expensive and I’m not sure people would spend the money for one now.
@@OneEyeCustoms okay. I was just wondering if you were still making them.
Little off topic... what was your thought process on the golf cart... gas vs electric? You have alot of equipment and i value your opinion.. thanks Doug..Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I love the electric golf cart. First and foremost, it is used to drive me up the back hills quietly to go hunting.
I like the ease of the electric as long as you have some kind of schedule for charging the batteries.
Down side is I know I can never venture too far away. Hills and cold weather will kill the thing pretty quick.
Thanks Doug for your thoughts...
