I love both the 1971 & 1984 logos. My all-time favorite bumpers.
Same, too nostalgic
Especially as a kid watching Sesame Street or Mr. Roger’s
Nice to hear Fred Rogers' voice on this!
Technology has changed so much throughout these years!
0:34 A Man Says, “So I Was One Of The First To Start WQED.”
Another Man: “This Is NET, The National Educational Television Network.”

What Video Is That From?
I have fond memories of grade school and the teacher waiting for the time when NET would play Bill Martin reading poetry or The Wordsmith or Guten Tag! The TV would get wheeled in by someone, and plugged in, the teacher would adjust the antenna and we'd watch the shows live.
so your like 72 years old

Cool.
2:14-3:00
I could watch that all day and not grow tired of it. 1998 up till 2000 was the highlight of my childhood, and PBS as well as PBS Kids made it that way.
Same here. I remember that logo very well, and I too could watch it all day and not get tired of it either. Really brings back the memories of when PBS had great programs, especially on PBS kids
While my earliest memories of PBS goes back to the early 80's , I remember the original 1971 one with the first appearance of the PBS head and the S that looked like the number 8 since it was still in use in the early 80's.
1971 bumper was used until 1984. So that makes sense. Sorry for the decade late reply.
I remember seeing the first logo as little and always thinking it was something dancing (obviously on RUclips and not in the 50s)
The first logo I always think I see a flaming lady dancing. @ the 1:30 mark is when my heart starts beating faster. Wonderful childhood, West Dallas Projects stand up.
The best logo was from 1:30 seconds. And "Mr P Head" faced to the left. (I worked for PBS stations for 40 years).
A local remodeling company, NETCO, based its logo on the late-1960s NET logo.
Oh man. The PBS kids logos are a real trip down memory lane for me.
PBS has come a long way since it began!
I like the old CGI PBS logo at 1:53. It was produced for them by PDI and was the first fully computer animated logo produced for them.
The first PBS logo I remember very well was the 1989 3D Glass logo, thus making it my favorite logo of all times. :-)
I miss the old TV logos, when the sound wasn't crystal clear, and there'd be "nightmarish" logos. lol.
I remember all of these except for the first few since those were ahead of my time and the logos for PBS video since I've naver watched or purchased those, so this was very fun to see. Thanks!
0:14 globes don't have fire inside them.
Logo #16 was first used when Turner Home Entertainment (Image Entertainment if on Laserdisc) released a few VHS Tapes of "Adventures from the Book of Virtues" under their PBS for Kids sublabel in 1996 after the Turner Home Entertainment logo fades to black, followed by the "Closed Captioned for the Hearing Impaired" bumper before the PBS logo shows up.
So many think the 1971 one is 'scary', LOL, but it's got nothing on that 1966 'globe' one! If I saw this as a kid, I would think 'OMG, it's on FIRE!!!'
The 1:58 Minute Logo Does Not Exist It's A Fan Made

I think the one at the 1:30 mark is my favorite because I would see it before watching some fun program at school.
National
Educational
Television Network
@SourApplez1211 I agree with the 1984 one. That use to scare the shit out of me as a child.
This vídeo alone gives me nostalgia When I watched a lot of pbs logos in 2014-2015 even though I'm not from the us
1:41 and 1:52 are my favorite PBS logos! Also I can even compare the beginning music part of the PBS 3D Glass logo with the beginning music part of the Dearly Beloved song from Kingdom Hearts II. :D
SuperSonicKazooie
Andeng Binarao I'm sorry, what are you saying to me? :/
thx u helped me a lot
Weekend Selection Presents! Without Warning!
2:14 when these people holding P-men repeatedly, its funny to me to see the other people jump or flying behind the p-men if you all people get it what I'm saying. Who could decided to come up with this?
My Local PBS Station is GBH
PBS 1971... Nightware Factor... High. There's only 1 scary part... The P zooming out, also there's hypnotic music in the background.
Yes.
4:36 this logo reminds me of watching Jay Jay the jet plane
Omg same
I like the 1971 PBS logo on its own, but I can imagine it would be frightening before or after a show.
3:24 the jingle of this logo reminds me to cancel Cinnamon Movie.
I kind of want to make a video of the first PBS kids logo saying This Is Sparta
This is pbs the first pbs kids logo said
My favorite PBS kids logo is the surprise. I would truly want to see kids get freaked out.
NET = PBS
NET Playhouse = PBS Kids
PBS Was Established In November 21, 1952
That's Humphrey Bogart's widow Lauren Bacall doing the voice-over for the 1998 variations. Though she's old now, she was a *lot* younger than Bogie!
gotta love 2:08-2:13! reminds me so much of my life as a 2 year old!
This is PBS.
@davidpar2 My childhood memories of PBS for me are from 1:53 onward. Those are all the best PBS logos ever.
NET Globe looks like the guy in the globe is having a seizure even though the logo is only black and white
1:47 takes me back to Sesame Street.
Now for PBS
this is great!
All the PBS logos
Yeah, that one is a little trippy.
And I still hate the p pals one.
Anyone else have the Mandela effect of remembering the head opening up and decorations or streamers coming out
wow!
My favorite part of the video is the PBS Logo 1992 and the PBS Logo 1998-2002
I like the 1996-1999 pbs logo
my fav one was the last Pbs Home video
PBS Kids Sprout -> Sprout -> NBCUniversal's acquisition of Sprout -> name change -> Universal Kids
3:34 My favorite
1:31 heard this on the radio and I thought a ufo was coming
Now because I found it not scary I am not afraid of viewing PBS logos...
Ident 13 (1:57) scared me like hell, and still scares me!!! because of that I am afraid of viewing every single PBS logo...

0:34-0:38 Mr. Rogers! I only came here for him.
There was another net logo but instead the announcer says
"the following program is from n.e.t the public television network"
N E T 1:10 👍
@mudkiprules4
Good point. I thought the person who caught this had a bad camera, but it looks fake because PBS wouldnt have a logo that did nothing. Not even a split...
PBS Logos 1950 - 2005
