This electronic spinet organ in excellent condition, with 3 keyboards and 13 pedals . Features include drawbars for upper/lower & pedals. This model was the top of the range and has beautiful ensemble strings and a real Leslie speaker built-in. Very good orchestral and percussive voices. Nice to hear one of my 'babies' played nicely. Still sounds as good today as when I first sketched it out over a coffee with the engineers in 1979!

Please please check out E. Bobby G on youtube, he composed a solo album using one of these and performed it completely live on youtube!

This is a great instrument, I think as I remember back to 1978 and my fathers Hammond Aurora 8200 🙂

@@mcplutt the spinet DX900 and console DX1900 were released around 1980-1981 at around the same time as Yamaha's D65 and D85 spinet and E45 and E75 console organs.

So glad I came upon this video! My father was passionate about the organ and he owned this model, the Kawai DX900. When he passed away in 2002, the organ was donated to his retirement community for the continued enjoyment of its residents. I hope they have cherished it over the years as much as my father did. He did not read one note of music, but had a keen ear for melody and harmony and could make the most wonderful sounds with just a few seconds of mental preparation. I wanted to share this comment with you because of the emotional connection of knowing it was this particular model organ he owned and loved. I have a photo in my possession to remind me of the joy he experienced while playing. It's a beautiful instrument.

I am grateful to have picked up a DX900 from a nursing home in Melbourne in 2019. Maybe I have your dad's! Regardless, it takes pride of place in our front room, and I love it.

I have had many lovely organs in the past and currently own a lovely DX 900 in brand new condition. I simply adore it, it can do almost anything, beautiful strings, drawbars, vocal, glockenspiel etc, and beautiful looking as well.

Question: when you're using the automatic rhythm and you use the drum fill-in, does it break the beat and start again?

Wow that clip brings back some childhood memories! That machine was my grandfather's pride and joy. Up until his passing in 1989, every time I visited I was eager to have a go on it, a rare treat! Unfortunately my keyboard skills were (and are) practically non-existent, but I remember being fascinated by all the different sounds you could get out of it, not to mention all the buttons and lights of course! Seeing this clip, I feel like I'm nine years old again... :)

I also have great memories of this instrument. 2 of my teacher's had DX1900s- the console version. They're fabulous sounding instruments, many say the best organs that Kawai ever made!

I remember Newcastle Conservatorium of Music,NSW used to have a Classical Kawai in the Principal's Office. It had 2x61 Manuals and a 32 note AGO Pedalboard.I don't know what happened to it.The late Professor Michael Dudman used to practice on it.

What a beautiful instrument! I had a Kawai organ, but the expression pedal was faulty and my dad threw it out haha. I wish I could have fixed it.

Is that the thing you activate with your right leg? It stopped working for me a couple of years ago.
I will not throw the organ out.

Nice one! I have the spinet version DX800. The tone of the 800 is very different because they have digital technology as opposed to the fully analog 900s. The drum units and auto accompaniment features are identical however. Both 800 and 900 series have nice sounding real rotating leslie speakers, unlike the later Kawai's that had crap sounding electronic simulations.

@@SLOVENEC1972 Hey, I have a DX900... when I use fill-in the automatic rhythm restarts at the next bar, so it breaks the beat. Do you know if this is normal?

The DX900 is 114kg, and the bench 6.5kg, according to the user manual.
