My favorite of the Temptations. This is the first song I heard on the radio station called FEN(Far East Network) in August 1965.

Such a great nostalgic mood song. And, Paul Williams vocal stylings are the ultimate exactitude! You know? PWG

    Lyrics:
The sun is shining, there's plenty of light (oh yeah)
A new day is dawning, sunny and bright (oh yeah)
But after I've been crying all night
The sun is cold, and the new day seems old
Since I lost my baby (since I lost my baby)
Oh, since I lost my baby (oh, since I lost my baby)
The birds are singing and the children are playing
There's plenty of work and the bosses are paying
Not a sad word shoulda young heart be saying
But fun is a bore and with money I'm poor
Since I lost my baby (since I lost my baby)
Oh, since I lost my baby (oh, since I lost my baby)
Next time I'll be kinder (next time I'll be kinder)
Won't you please help me find her (won't you please help me find her)
Someone just remind her (someone just remind her)
Of this love she left behind her (of this love she left behind her)
Till I find her I'll be trying ta (till I find her I'll be trying ta)
    Everyday I'm more inclined ta
    Find her
    Inclined ta
    Find her
    Inclined ta find my baby
    Been looking everywhere (ba-by)
    Baby, I really, really care
Oh, determination is fading fast (oh yeah)
Inspiration is a thing of the past (oh yeah)
Can't see how my hope's gonna last
Good things are bad and what's happy is sad
Since I lost my baby (since I lost my baby)
Oh, since I lost my baby (oh, since I lost my baby)
I feel so bad (since I lost my baby)
I feel so sad (since I lost my baby)
    Everything is wrong
This heart is hard to carry on (since I lost my baby)
I'm lost as can be (since I lost my baby)
    What's gonna happen to me?

I'm enjoying listening to your 1965 record collection. It's like playing songs on a jukebox. (Do you remember jukeboxes?) Anyway my teenage son is laughing at me for listening to your records. I told my son , these records brings back memories of my late parents and other relatives who have passed away. I said , I couldn't understand the songs he was listening to. I told him one day I won't be here and whenever you hear oldies records , you'll think about me.

these teens do not know what real music is ! these days its all auto tune robot electronic sounding voices, real talent, the nuance, the dynamics and all of real voices are a very rare thing today , it genuinely makes me sad, especially when i criticize these heavily autotuned electronic singers and someone comes back and says no it sounds good '' .. no, it does not, i understand music is art, and its all subjective but come on ! you cannot rtell me that a real voice with the expression , dynamics , and tones, is not as good as some no talent schmuck who is singing through auto-tune sounding like a computerized robot voice.

Few singers could ever convey lovelorn anguish as soulfully and convincingly as David Ruffin (he does it again on "I Wish It Would Rain"). This song expresses the joyfulness of "My Girl" unexpectedly gone wrong, yet the melody and backing Temptations' harmonies flow and swell with enough warmth and optimism that one is persuaded that David will find his "sunshine" and "month of May" again. (Coincidentally, songwriter/producer Smokey Robinson had his "Tracks of My Tears" by The Miracles and this song peak back-to-back, at #16 and #17, respectively, on the Sept. 4, 1965 Billboard Hot 100.)

Fantastic, timeless. The version by The Action ably conveys the song's emotional meaning. Reg King's vocal is simply heartbreakingly soulful, interwoven with the band's harmonic backing voices. Worth a listen.

Good original but I do prefer the Luther Vandross version from the 80's. That's a definitive lesson in how to cover a song and make it your own.
