- The Dunderrow Solar Farm, developed by Eli Lilly and Company and Enerpower, is currently the largest solar farm in the Republic of Ireland.
Comprised of 12,600 individual solar panels and costing €5m, the development was a joint investment between Lilly and Enerpower, with Enerpower receiving support from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
The development includes the installation of over 12,600 solar panels across three fields. At maximum output these panels can provide close to 5.6 MWp DC (or approx. 65% at peak output) of the site’s imported power. The photovoltaic solar system is sized such that all power generated will be used by the Lilly site and there is no export to the national grid.
The annual power generated is equivalent to the power consumption of Kinsale Town, allowing Lilly to reduce its annual use of electricity from carbon sources by almost 6GWH and its carbon footprint by 2,350 tonnes.
