Very cool part is near the end when you rotate the paper and first the illusion is gone flat and then it even inverts (resembling a stepped pyramid) around 2:19 and when you rotate back: the illusion of true depth returns at around 2:30. Beautiful stone-like texture! Just great!!!

like its actually so hard to believe this is 2D the longer you draw my mind is even tell me your hand is going into the hole to do the shading
Depending on how you turn the page...how you see it or alter your perspective...you either see a hole or an extrusion..a pit or a ziggurat. illusional perception...3 dimensional objects emerging from a 2 dimensional plane...I love it!
not easy to do but I love how you bring out perspective in different light. This clip is to highlight the volume of shading. if person know trigonometry well or know where direction the light cast, the stairs of holes are beautiful as creases.
