I bought "Chord Tone Soloing" and am working thru it. Jared is rock solid in that course. Well worth the small cost. It's taught in the same style as this video so if you like the video, you'll like Jared's video classes.

I made some practice exercises on the different movements and happily see them show up in my playing!
    Thanks Jared! 😎🗻

I just worked thru most ofthe beginner's guitar course after trying a few other courses. I made a tremendous amount of progress in my playing over 12 weeks. Jared is an amazing teacher and the Best Beginnner Guitar Course is incredibly helpful.

You do such great stuff and its much appreciated. Occasionally it leads to questions: at 4:47 you appear to be using the note G as an appoggiatura but its the F. Its just a bit confusing to me; is the leap from E to G? Is the step from G to F the appo? Hopefully it will make sense in time. Thanks so much for all your output

Yep, E to G is the leap and G to F is the step. G is a non-chord tone over the F chord, making it an appoggiatura. Does that make sense?
Thanks for the all the encouragement! Glad you like the vids :)

this is an interesting lesson, and different than what i was expecting. i guessed that the non-chord tones would be classified by what they do to the harmony, rather than their melodic context.

Yeah, that guess makes sense. The topic you described would be chord extensions. Glad you thought it was interesting! :)
