Vincent Claes of Phoenix began taking private cello lessons when he was 7. He is a member of the Phoenix Youth Symphony, heading into his sixth year. In January 2018, Vincent won first place in the PYS Young Musicians Competition Junior Low Strings Division.
In January 2019, he won a scholarship from the Young Musicians Competition to attend Interlochen Arts Camp. He was assistant principal and principal of the Interlochen World Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as participating in the advanced string quartet program.
He won first place in the Young Musicians Competition Low Strings Division as well as first place in the Arizona Cello Society Competition, Division I.
