    Probably very late to comment on this but the idea of your thumbnails being the depiction of Korean mythology being consumed by the modern city And the magic it still holds is fascinating 🎉 I hope Magu makes an appearance ❤

    I’m always mesmerized by the gentle grasp of your pencils and how you begin with shading, adding finer details only once the form is established
    Your imagination astounds me, the combination of elements is intriguing. 🇨🇦

      Thank you so much! I've been trying to consciously be gentler when drawing, as I had some issues with wrist pain in the past - and it seems to make the sketching process go more smoothly, too! :)

    I really love the way you sketch people, especially in monochrome tones. These concept sketches are beautiful already.
    And somehow I felt very inspired by your thoughts about the concepts, and had visual ideas of my own. For the hair as cables painting, I think it could work well to paint "Lady Seoul" walking away from the viewer, with her hair turning into cables behind her, and a long misty coat that is turning into buildings of various sizes or into the river Han. Her head could be slightly turned back, so that her face is visible as well.
    I can also imagine a "Lady Seoul" where her hair is basically made up of vague shapes of people.
    You really got my own imagination going with this video! 😄So kudos for that! And I hope things will calm down in SK soon so that you can feel safe and reassured once again.

      Thank you so much! The monochrome sketching helps so much when focusing on simplicity - colors can be distracting to my little brain at this stage. 😆
      I love the "Lady Seoul" title... I kept thinking about it while visiting family in Seoul over the last three days, seeing cables and patterns everywhere! I think this could be such a fun concept to explore with different cities, too, if you ever feel like doing one ❤️

    Kennst du die Reihe Exhibition On Screen? Die Dokus laufen in Programmkinos und können auch gestreamt werden. Die Folge über John Singer Seargent war sehr beeindruckend! Wie ein Museumsrundgang mit Führung und Dokumentation in einem 👍🏻

    The moment you drew the first kables on the very first sketch of that idea, it spoke to me. It ilicits a strong feeling of entanglement in me, of how one can be bound to a city in ways only they or perhaps nobody can understand. Lovely process!

      @evydraws-art  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you, I'm really glad that piece seems to resonate with people, as I really want to give it another try! Maybe we're tied to cities in ways we don't understand ourselves, so painting a piece I don't quite understand yet is fitting :)

  • @sevenizh

    looove to see your thought process as you talk through your ideas. i love the idea of the hair becoming cables and showing the entanglement with the city. or the one after that, with the buildings coming out of the person. i think both of these could work well on a bigger canvas and convey what you would like to show. i hope you'll continue to take us along in your journey as you discover what art you've decided on!
    and also thank you for inspiring, i think i will try just sketching and doodling ideas in my sketchbook. i have a hard time coming up with ideas right now on what to draw and maybe making little sketches can help.
    have a great day :)

      Thank you! All the kind feedback for that cable portrait is giving me so much confidence to give it another try as a composition, and I think having it and another one of those weird city portraits might make for a great duo on large canvas. I plan on sharing a lot of the process, for sure ❤
      Doodling, even as just a warm-up exercise, is an amazing art habit, and letting the sketches rest before coming back to them really solves a lot of problems with art block for me :) I hope it works for you, too!

    I've had a couple ideas from catching myself in the bathroom mirror myself! Inspiration comes where it comes, I guess. It was wonderful seeing all these concepts coming together! I loved the first pencil sketch you did when you returned home from the cafe, this concept of a city personified is something I'm drawn to myself. But the electric wire pencil one you did in that session also looked fascinating. To me, these concepts speak of a very elegant city, somehow traditional and modern all at once, a true combination.

    • @evydraws-art
      @evydraws-art  Месяц назад

      I'm glad I'm not alone with weird bathroom mirror ideas 😂 something about being stuck there for 3 min staring at myself gets the creativity going, apparently!
      The personified cities really fascinate me, as there are so many different facets to explore. And the contrast of old and new, tradition and modernity, really stands out here in Seoul, so I'm glad you got that impression from those sketches! ♥

    I was thinking of you when I heard what happened and even though we don't know each other, it made it feel more concrete, more close to home even if I'm far away in Canada, and I was wondering how you were living through it all, how it was affecting you. You just gave me an amazing idea for a painting! I took inspiration from the words you said about being a tiny person in an ever-changing world. I thought id share the concept :) i want to make the painting in an accordion sketchbook so that as you look through the pages you see the changes that happen through the passage of time. In each page you see the same figure but the landcape changes even though its the same place. Anyway excuse my rant, i loved the video :)

    I also think that the cable idea is great. I love Korea and Korean culture, i lived in China for a little, it is not the same, but it looks like all those city labyrinths and cables in the sky is a big part of a asian cityscapes

      And yes, I've noticed the cables all over Asian cities, from Bangkok to Tokyo, so I hope I can make it read as "Seoul" while keeping that weird charm they have. Now I'm very excited to give it another try! ✨
