Car literally avoided another car cutting it off, and multiple people walking around it... buddy walks out not seeing any of that and immediately says "that's dangerous". Classic!
His response didn’t surprise me, but the car literally drives me everywhere with minimal interventions these days. That’s the thing, I know how well it’s performing, but others don’t, so they judge 🤷♂️.
That's a common reaction with anything new. I let someone test drive my Model Y, and their immediate reaction to the regen braking was, "Oh my god! That's dangerous!!"
You covered it all. Most people will always reject what they don’t understand and tbh a LOT of people are ignorant to today’s technology and its abilities.
A good deal of people are afraid of anything new, why when 5G came out people burned the cell towers. When 6G comes out they will be burning them again. This is exactly the same, but this will eventually hurt someone in probably some small way. It's the price of progress, but without some risk we would be stuck living like it's 1800s, like the Mennonite colonies thinking life could not be better. I think it's a great step for future applications beyond just driving on parking lots. This will make life better, but there will be growing pains. Over legislate and progress can stop while it will continue elsewhere in the world and will be stuck behind. I tired Model Y test drive overnight with FSD and think it's not full self driving but amazing and useful already. Many drives were done without intervention. Will get Model Y after the new year.
Well said, at least all it takes to stop the car is removing your finger from the screen, and if I truly thought there was any danger I would have acted. Love our Model Y, but no FSD on it.
Yep! There are people who don't like new tech. Maybe they will understand if its an emergency or heavy rain at the parking lot. I think there are special case scenario that ASS will be justified by those who think its rekless. Like there is this guy who used smart summon to get his tesla out from a closed parking lot. Hi car was parked so far at the parking lot. He managed to bring his car at the entrance and was allowed by the guards.
Had some old bitty walk up to me with tears in her eyes," there are children here." I look around again seeing no children. Well I smiled and said, "don't worry, I wont hurt any children."
We shall see, have to finish our home electrification project and videos first. Maybe it will be good enough by then to feel comfortable using Actual Smart Summon in such a busy parking lot.
The car has no way of telling if something is right infront of the bumper thanks to Elon who thought it would be a great idea to go withot a front bumper camera, radar or sensors! "Dirty Tesla" testet ASS and if the car can't reverse far enough for the windshield camera to see, because for example parked back to a wall or another car, it's game over! In his case it was just a box, but i could have been a child and the car would have run it over with no mercy! That's the reason they changed it from real FSD to Supervised! It can't be used without supervision and so can't be FSD ever be without human supervision for now. I can see lawsuits coming to demand a free instalment of a bumper camera as peiole have paid up to 14.000$ for FSD. FSD means *Full Self Driving* and not " sorry you eill have to watch your car at any time" !
It is pretty amazing. It blows people’s minds when they experience it for the first time. It’s just not an autonomous vehicle. I’m 5 years in, what about 5 years from now, that’s the question.
It’s worth pointing out that a human driver would have also not been able to see the box in Dirty Teslas test. Most drivers do not do a full walk around of their vehicle every time they get in. FSD doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be better than humans.
@@edinalewis4704 Well that's what's it all about! A human driver would have at least been there to check first right? I don't just drive off without having a look around mly car do you? As soon as i approach it i immediately see if there is something infront or behind the car. I don't know about the US but in Europe this for 100% sure will not be allowed until the car can cover all possible blind spots but then we are talking of a nation which is about to vote a high profile criminal as President and the CEO of Tesla supporting that, so I guess at least in the US everything is possible! It's sad what has happened to Elon Musk, a guy I once admired!

I almost said you should experience it before you say anything about it…

Thanks 🙏

That would a definite situation where someone who is against the use of it would use it!
I wish we could have smart summon without spending $8K for FSD. But, we can rent FSD for $99 a month for a road trip and get smart summon included.
It’s a bit expensive to buy outright, I bought 5 years ago with the car.
Love it! It is the future or car driving.
Seems more and more likely!
Had some old bitty walk up to me with tears in her eyes," there are children here." I look around again seeing no children. Well I smiled and said, "don't worry, I wont hurt any children."
It warrants being careful, but if people only knew how much FSD was actually driving. Look ma, no hands, as long as we are paying attention of course
Do COSTCO

What a miseable person. What is he making that judgement based on?
An uninformed opinion, it’s to be expected at this time.
Always based on ignorance unfortunately.

I think so as well. Very cool how far they have come, but I seriously think fully autonomous vehicles from Tesla will need to be new hardware.

Yeah don't get me wrong, it's the most impressive assistance driving system out there!
No question about it!
