its amazing seeing their different hunting styles on display so clearly, the orchid mantis pays close attention, but sits and waits, the ghost mantis makes slow wavy progress closer, like a chameleon. other mantis just rushes in, and the shield mantis is a bit of both

my personal favorite is the Hierodula venosa & Hierodula patellifera, they're both big. So you can hug them and see them upclose without using zoom, in my past year's this is the best of the best
It's just insane how detailed Choeradodis stalii camouflage is. I mean right down to diseases on the leaf, pretty mind blowing. I wonder if there's a lot of variation in the species as to how much leaf disease is depicted, or if some don't have any at all.

I can’t believe I only JUST realized this is a whole ass channel….true story, I have a severe panic disorder, and when I start to spiral, the only thing that helps is distraction, and the “Aggressive mantis squad” is the video that all of my friends have saved to their phones to send to me when I feel it starting up…I’ve seen it at least 100 times and I will NEVER stop laughing at the praying mantis’s face at the end! In fact, two of my friends now have a close up shot of that face as my profile picture in their phones 🤣 idk what it is, I do NOT enjoy insects or anything even remotely connected to them, but I just love those lil fuckers.
