This Minister just made me laugh. Do you remember the economics of purchasing power and GDP when calculating salary for political officials? NO. But when it comes to paying doctors you are pressing calculator. If you are increasing salaries of judges by 300% and giving increased allowances and SUVs to politicians why should doctors only eat patriotism and policy papers? THIS IS PURE WICKEDNESS.

Beginning from Abuja, if Federal government builds world-class hospitals with doctors and nurses quarters surrounding the hospital then provide dedicated power and water supply, the doctors migration will drop drastically. This is the way to go.
Government should encourage private investors to invest heavily and replicate NHS standard of hospitals. Doctors and teachers are not concerned about money, just give them job satisfaction they will stay.

I agree with your last statement but NHS is not supported by private sector. It is funded by the government. I returned to Nigeria after studying outside the country but now I feel like I can't wait to leave. I never thought I will feel like that. It's not about the salary, but the bare minimum they should do is to compensate Drs. In 2020, a house officer's salary is about $5000 per year. Today its about $1500 a year.

I refered to the Man's delivery and eloquence on the topic and what needs to be done. Not if he is doing well or not. Every one knows Nigeria is in distress at the moment. My solution was simply. Since Nigeria is a medical personnel factory it should ensure it gets its money's worth. No free training g and after that go where u want. If trained free pls. Ensure you pay back with 10 years accepting Nigerias remuneration then find your way. That way we will still have medicals people as well as export and it's a win win.. Not this ripp off going on.. How could President Bola Tinubu approve a 300% increase in the salaries and allowances of the judiciary sector? This decision creates a significant imbalance, especially when the minimum wage for the average Nigerian worker was only increased by 133%.
On one hand, the government struggles to sustain the minimum wage, yet on the other, it approves a substantial 300% raise for the judiciary. This disparity is difficult to justify.

Yes, brilliant and intelligent man. But, didn't this minister left the Nigerian health sector to work abroad sometime ago? You can't force people to stay in one place when they can get better remuneration and opportunity elsewhere.
Do not get me wrong. The massive migration of workers in the health sector is a major concern. However, when a barely literate primary school certificate holder can join politics and rig his way into the national assembly and end up earning 100 times in allowances what a consultant surgeon who had put in 25 years in his field of medical specialty; then you will understand that the real problem is not being addressed by this new Health Workforce Policy.
We need to get serious. Remunerate and compensate our medical professionals who have laboured and toiled before reaching their peak. Reduce the emoluments of politicians. Period.

It is now very clear as the sky that this govt is not serious at all. Let the policy (sacrifice) starts from them first. What is good for the goose should equally be good for the gander. There should also be a policy/law banning public office holders from seeking medical treatment outside the country. That way, they would look inwards to develop the domestic health facilities.

Tinunbu and or Health minister need to put the necessary medical resources and good and unfailing working pay package in place 1st before closing avenue for Japa DR. the policy and improvement can then entice the return of people back to the contraction. also show Nigerian that you guy would stop and make it effective not to go abroad for medication and ensure constant electricity and water.

This Hon. Minister will never support the suggestion raised by Seun cos the Minister himself majorly worked outside the country during his prime days. Statistics have shown that most remaining Doctors on ground are mostly ordinary pass level Doctors why the best one has JAPA.

They can't achieve anything because there was no incentive given to them by the Nigerian government during their training. Their parents did everything for them to become Medical Doctors, So, the Nigerian government have no right to dictate to them on where to work or go to work. Shameless sequential governments. Even after schooling no where for the children to work. Poor salaries with no incentives. Children are all running away from their blessed country because of lack of jobs, no conducive environment to do anything. Even to do small business they can afford to do. It is practically impossible because of lack of simple aminities.

This man is surely unaware or ignorant of what he is talking about. When you play no part in these people's training, you have no workable facilities to accommodate them to work in. Do you want them to stay back and be tormented by the same government? You can do better by telling yourselves the truth!
The country has not even taught them citizenship.
