Yeah for Far From The Madding Crowd ….one of my faves. Also love Agnes Grey. Don’t owe me a tenner 😉📚❤️Good luck with these… I hope you enjoy everything you get to!!
what a diverse pile of books. I love it. So many amazing books and amazing sounding books. I have a feeling your channel is going to be dangerous to our (myself and my son's) tbr. Years ago I was supposed to buddyread The Letters Bettween Six Sisters for march of the mammoths and she quit on me and I've yet to finish it. What I did read was very fascinating. This was a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing.
Terrible film Sliding Doors?! That's an amazing piece of 90s history that I've watched about 20 times!! Glad you added Crossing To Safety 😊 no time travel. Two couples haha. I really liked Far From The Madding Crowd, but Tess remains my fave. Would like to read more Anne Brontë and Elizabeth Gaskell. Great selection 👍🏻
That’s a belting selection! I've read all the classics that you mention - Daniel Deronda is amazing. There’s a few of the others that I'll be adding to my TBR, which is longer than a piece of string now. I definitely want to get around to Elizabeth Jane Howard. Cheers bud!
I loved Michener’s Alaska. I read it decades ago and still remember how great it was. I love Elizabeth Jane Howard too. I am about to start Daniel Deronda. I’ve read all of Pym, love them all so much. Can You Forgive Her was amazing and I couldn’t put it down. You have some great reading coming up! Thanks for showing them.
I will get Alaska if I enjoy Hawaii, I've always been interested in Alaska as a place because of the TV show Northern Exposure which is a favourite of mine. Happy to hear there are other Howard fans around 😁
I just started listening to "The rest is history" podcast a few weeks ago! Loving it so far. Will be adding Rubicon to my 2025 TBR as well. I grew up near Louisa May Alcott's house so I read Little Women as a kid, but that is definitely one I'd like to reread since its been so long. Great list!
It's such a great podcast, it's massive in the UK. I particularly like the long series they do like the one of Custer & Crazy Horse, or the fall of the Aztecs. We don't have any famous authors where I am from, which is impressive really, it is a very illiterate place.
Great variety! I think you'll enjoy Far From the Madding Crowd. I have Maisie Dobbs on my shelf, but haven't tried that yet. I need to add some history to my reading, too. I've read Little Women so now I'm going to try to read the others in that series this year. I plan on reading Middlemarch and Silas Marner this year! Happy to hear you enjoyed those.
I didn't know Little Women was a series! I'll be interested to see how you go with George Elliot, I do wish I hadn't started with Middlemarch now though as everyone says it's the best 😆
Only 8 for me! 😉I do own the big Mitford letter book but I’m not ready for that yet despite loving big books. I’m reading the 1000 page Brontë’s biography by Juliet Barker this year for example. Far from the Madding Crowd is a happier Hardy, I love Mary Barton and Can You Forgive Her is one of my favorite Trollope’s. Enjoyed Little Women and Invisible Life of, but a couple of your classics didn’t work for me personally 😬. I think I’ve read the first seven in the Masie Dobbs series and really enjoy them. They start off in the interwar years but I think later they get into the Second World War which would work well with your reading of that period. I’m just winging it this year and seeing where my reading takes me!
@@josmith5992 I'm hearing lots of good things about Maisie Dobbs so that's good. I think the Brontes probably deserve 1000 pages, an odd family for sure. I will look forward toMaddening Crowd then, I do tend towards the less miserable books.
@@michaelmccarty Good to know about Crossing to Safety, I'd never heard of it until Sarah mentioned it. I'm excited that I have so many Pilcher books to go 😁
Fun! I want to do a TBR too. I think I'll do cozy books for 2025. I am going to put the final Maisie Dobbs on that list (I think you'll enjoy the series). PS September starts in I think May and ends in September, so it's also really fun for a summer read.
I'm interested to see how you can get even cozier in 2025! 😂 That's good news on the September starting in May, it gives me a good excuse to read it in the summer.
Far from the Madding Crowd and Little Women 🧡 I want to read a Michener this year. I have many. I’m behind this year but I’m still making a TBR for 2025😊 I haven’t read all of them on your list 😆
I've only read 4 on your list -- The Thin Man, Little Women, Far From the Madding Crowd (check out the l967 movie with Julie Christie, Terence Stamp, Alan Bates and Peter Finch. The cinematography and music are gorgeous.), and Less Than Angels. I am a "Pymite" and regularly re-read her novels. You're right in that there is something enjoyable iin each one.. But I think my favorite is the one I read first: Excellent Women. I kept hearing Emma Thompson as the voice of Mildred Lathbury. What do you think? I've been collecting ebooks by Eliizabeth Jane Howard whenever they've gone on sale and now I have all of them. I just need to read them:) I've read some books by Nancy and Jessica Mitford, as well as a biography of the family. I have an ebook on Diana. Those letters look interesting. 2025 is my Proust year, as well as The Arabian Nights. Otherwise, the books that have caught my interest are from 20th century female writers. Seems to be a theme there.
Good luck with Proust! I have read about half of the first book many years ago but never finished, it was good from what I remember but too daunting at the time. I will watch anything with Julie Christie so thanks for the recommendation 😁 Excellent Women was my first one too I think, definitely one of my favourites.
I love your selection! I think I’m going to read more non fiction this year. I have a pile of books on artists that I’ve started. Last year I looked at vikings, celts and standing stones in the uk books which was super interesting. My fiction (loose) tbr is mostly (not all) American books. Hard Rain Falling, Butchers Crossing, Fahrenheit 451, Catch 22, Moby Dick etc etc. maybe some Cormac McCarthy as well? I’ll see how I go I guess! 😊 Subscribed!!
@ Mysterious Britain- fact & folklore by Homer Sykes. It’s amazing what the Christian’s managed to wipe out of our history when they first came here! It made me want to road trip around and visit a load of them 😁
I hope you enjoy Wrath. I was quite satisfied with the ending (and especially for my favorite character). I hated Little Women but I wouldnt deter you from reading it. 😅 I will probably also read Agnes Grey this year!
I just finished Madding Crowd a couple of days ago. I'm still trying to work out how much I liked it. It definitely has plenty of merits, super well-written, but I'm not sure I enjoyed it wholeheartedly. But I suspect you'll like it more than I did.
What a fabulous selection. They look brilliant. I’ve read a couple but I can’t claim the tenner. Happy reading 😊
So many interesting books on your list, some on my list as well and some I've not heard of but sound interesting 😊
Yeah for Far From The Madding Crowd ….one of my faves. Also love Agnes Grey. Don’t owe me a tenner 😉📚❤️Good luck with these… I hope you enjoy everything you get to!!
Thanks! I suspect those two will be read for sure.

Great selection 👍🏻
I haven't watched Sliding Doors in years to be fair 😂 I've not read Tess, I've heard that is super miserable
@@AaronReadABook I didn't find it depressing, but I did find it sad. I'd definitely recommend it though 😊

The Unwomanly Face of War was such an amazing book. It had such an important perspective and really influenced how I see the whole time period.
Sounds great! Have you read Secondhand Time? That's the other one I have.
@@AaronReadABook I haven't! I have been meaning to read it though

@AaronReadABook Definitely!
I am so curious about your thoughts on all of these books. If you want a buddy, I am wanting to re-read Little Women sometime this year.
A buddy read would be fun! It would have to be later in the year for me, perhaps any time after April.

Yes I was wondering how you found it. Was it super miserable?
@ I mean, misery is definitely a strong element. It’s not constant though. I’ve been told Jude the Obscure is much more relentlessly miserable.
