  • This is a short "in action" video of a Custom Carrom Board that I built.
    The original video can be found at
    • How to Build Carrom Board
    Please be sure to visit the blog on how the carrom board was made at
    diycarromboard....
    Please note that I am not a professional carpenter or a woodworker ;) and I do not take custom orders, it was purely a hobby project.
    If you are interested in knowing more details behind the project, I wrote a separate blog explaining the end to end process of making a Carrom Board from scratch. The blog can be found at diycarromboard....
    Please post link to the video if you make one. Good luck & Thank you!

    Great job, Suresh. You inspire me.
    I'm very new to woodworking, slowly building my collection of tools and ideas.

      Thank you for the kind words. This is Internet, so can't really complain if someone doesn't find this video useful. Good luck with the woodworking, it can be very therapeutic and you get instant sense of accomplishment :) Take your time, that's how I started, looking around for ideas and tools and more importantly read about how to use these tools safely.

    No words can explain how smoothly and elegantly the striker moves. What a classy carrom board!

    Well done. Nicely crafted. Just a suggestion, pocket corners of the play area should have been flush with the boundary wall to avoid coin kick back. Also, there should be backing support to the play area if you intend to use it on a stand or stool as the board will warp without support frame on the back. B Appreciate the way you have made the board.

    • @MahasriKalavala
      @MahasriKalavala  4 года назад +1

      You are correct on the corners. We rarely put it on a table to play as we like to play good old way. The back is extremely sturdy after applying several coats of epoxy, it is not going anywhere, and no chance of warping or damage. This should last at least 10 generations :)

    Hi Suresh,
    My name is Abdul Khan i live in Elgin,Ill my question with u do u make these board in usa? i am looking atleast 6 pcs size 36"x36"playing area 4"x2"frame and 3/4" holes can you please call us if you willing to take my order how long does it take and price.

    • @MahasriKalavala
      @MahasriKalavala  9 лет назад

      Abdul Khan Hello, Yes, I made this board in the USA. Unfortunately I am not a professional wood worker or a carpenter, and I do not take custom orders. I only made this board for fun. As far as I know, 36 x 36 is not a standard, but I have seen bigger boards before. To give you a rough idea, it took me over 2 months to build this, and the cost is more than 10 times the store price. But I built with the BEST quality of material there is, and I hope it lasts at least 10 times longer than the store bought ones. You can find more information on how I made this board on my blog at diycarromboard.blogspot.com. Thank you!

    Can you please upload vedio for how to apply epoxy on ply wood, and how to polish it..plz

    • @MahasriKalavala
      @MahasriKalavala  4 года назад +2

      I have used epoxy for the first time. I went on RUclips and searched how folks have applied epoxy. I found videos from the manufacturer and the instructions are very helpful. I actually called the manufacturer and spoke to him on phone as I had few questions on how to apply epoxy on plywood. Plywood contains air pockets, and if you pour epoxy, you might find more air bubbles. Instead of pouring epoxy on plywood, I applied thin layers of epoxy (spread thin) and wait for it to dry, sand it and repeat for several times until the plywood is sealed thoroughly. After that, I poured epoxy to the thickness I wanted. There is no need for polishing as epoxy finishes itself very smoothly - just make sure the surface is flat and leveled, otherwise the epoxy is going to run to the low spot and you may have uneven surface in the end. Hope this helps.

    great board! are you using any powder on it?? ('wax')

    • @MahasriKalavala
      @MahasriKalavala  6 лет назад

      Thank you! I don't use any wax on this. But I do put boric powder when playing. No matter how smooth the carrom board is, it feels weird without the boric powder :)

    Gap between the pockets and frame should not be there.

    • @MahasriKalavala
      @MahasriKalavala  8 лет назад

      Thank you for the feedback. That is easy to fix to make. I made an exact replica from an old carrom board I used to have - that has the similar pockets and the gap you mentioned.

      +Mahasri Kalavala what is a full size board ?

    • @MahasriKalavala
      @MahasriKalavala  8 лет назад

      There are many sizes available. I believe the full size is the one that I made. The inside dimensions are 29.5 inches x 29.5 inches. I also saw much bigger carrom boards, and the small ones for kids. Please see my blog for more details, where I mentioned about the dimensions.

      It is unlikely that you'll find this type of board as this one is completely hand/custom made. There are many professional grade carrom boards you can buy online and in stores depending on where you live.

      Thank you. I probably spent anywhere between 10 to 15 times the store value - only because I used best of the best hand selected materials, and custom works always gets expensive. It has been 2 years since the board was made, it is still in pristine condition and quality!
