Hi! I'm a self-teaching bookbinder, I live in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. I learned the basics with a friend but mostly I used internet to find resources, tutorials, to learn about the profession. Here in Xalapa there is only basics materials. The great majority of "bookbinders" are making notebooks and albums. Is rare to do a special job, most people go to Mexico city to recuest those types of works. Near from Xalapa, in Coatepec, there's an independent research project about lithography and paper called la Ceiba Gráfica. They're making cotton paper and kozo paper. I'm building my own workshop and my goal is to use local material, for example kozo paper, to use in my projects, to make them unique.
Thanks for your videos, I learn a lot from your channel.

I guess that's the same in most countries nowadays. Add scrapbooking, simple structures like Coptic binding - these are the most popular types of bookbinding. They definitely have their place and audience, but sometimes one also wants to see this work taken to the next level. Or even several levels higher.
And there are definitely some countries where design bookbinding and experimental bookbinding are more advanced. I hope to see more examples of fine work coming from Mexico in the future!
