Say what you want about Simple Creatures, I relate to every lyric at this current stage in my life, unlike with the lyrics in California. I enjoy and relate much more to this project than California, which felt forced, while this feels natural.
NITE KLUB As much as I love Blink California was very forced because of the lack of Tom. They really should have let Matt Skiba step more into the main songwriting role. Feldman has good intentions but he doesn’t quite understand where the band needs to be or go. Just my opinion.

I think it's more John than anything, despite his best efforts. If you listen to California and the Goldfinger album that came out right after, they sound exactly the same.
