Scenario: Say you are recording with the camera out of the pod, and you use up all the battery in the camera. Can you put the camera back in the pod and keep recording without any interruption?
Here’s an idea. You could make a little charging ‘Dongle’ for the camera. Just a 6” USB C cable with a small attachment that connects onto the contacts at the back. Should be easy enough to produce them for a few dollars and sell for $9.99
Helpful video, super informative, and the production level is on point! Good stuff, I was just a little bit distracted by the kermit the frog natural tone of voice.
11:20 would like to see them restore reframing (in the ap ), which was the killer feature of the previous GO cameras. Especially since, with such a tiny device, you just approximate where it’s pointed.
A good canter through the new features, thanks - but you didn't offer any low light samples or comments on that aspect. I have the Go 2 and the X3 - currently trying to decide whether to upgrade which? Or neither. Yes, very different tools for very different jobs but it would be great to see some picture quality comparisons between these two in due course.
I’m coming out with another video with more samples, including indoor, low light, and comparisons with other action cameras. Stay tuned. I wanted to shoot more side by side before posting for a more comprehensive showdown in cameras.
@@奇C I have just seen a very comprehensive review which gave several examples of low light video and it seemed to me to be much better than might have been expected.
This video is amazing. you cant teach someone this way of creating content. its just in you. your timing, editing , info about the new features is perfect its almost like it was AI generated. i was about to sell my imac to get a insta go 360 3 to do pressure washing and RC vlogs on my IG but il just have to save up abit more and get the GO 3S cause of this video. i am truly grateful @insta360 sent you the go 3s to review or else this video wouldnt of have popped out! thanks alot bud!
damn the quick reader! thanks for sharing that! hope it works for Go3 since I have that issue weekly of having the camera full and dont have time to offload until I go to next adventure and dont bring my camera!
I really need them to create that clamshell holder/charger/remote for the GO3s or GO4, similar to the GO2. That's the best way to take advantage of the tiny size. Even if they sold the clamshell as a separate module, that would be fantastic.
I’m looking for an action camera to use on a model railway layout for close ups and to stick on trains etc. This is perfect thank you. Hopefully the stabilisation is good as every little bump is magnified when doing extreme closes up and macro filming.
Finally 4k arrives to GO series of cameras from Instat360. And the new 3s looks slightly better than the 3, but probably not enough to upgrade. The pricing seems a little high, i wish they had a cheaper model, without the case. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
@user-sh7jq1ho8b The Go 3s camera works with the old Go 3 module housing. So you can just purchase the new camera alone if you have the old Go 3 and you have everything you need.
I’m thinking of using one of the insta 360 cameras film inside shopping malls, and for walking tours. My GoPro is good in sunshine, but jittery in indoor or low/mixed light. Can the Go3S handle indoor lighting? Or would the ace pro be better? I love the tiny size of the Go3S for walking hands free in a mall (pendant) but the ace pro seems like the winner in low light. Can the Go3S handle indoor light?
you didn't mention how long it can film for? I want to like this camera but I film way too much to not have removable SD card. that docking station thing seems like a headache and more stuff to lose / How long does it take to transfer?? I also refuse to have anything to do with magnets in my camera kit.... they will corrupt / wipe memory cards if they get close which they often can when you're juggling all that equipment. Good video!
Good initial comment about it being the Go 3S and not the Go 4. I'd generally skip this kind of an upgrade and wait for a Go 4. However, with the incoming administration's plan to slap even more, and intentionally punitive, tariffs on Chinese imports, I don't know if I could even afford a Go 4 when it comes out.
Hands off the cameras of this brand. We lost recordings of a wedding due to a firmware error. The camera also has problems with the connection contacts. It has a lot of errors. Not recommended at all!
Nice if GoPro would make a similar one with 60fps at 4k. Many of these Chinese cameras require a phone app that harvests info to send back to China. Without the phone, a user can't even register them or be availed of many of its functions.
@@geometerfpv2804 There is still legal recourse with companies that are in the US that play with your data. CCP's harvest is to eventually shutdown some aspect of America's business - which includes banking. Which includes EVERYTHING that passes through your phone.
My Go2 has a "Pro video" setting i always use, so no matter what orientation my camera is in that mode gives me FlowState stabilization, the option to adjust the aspect ratio during editing, and most importantly; horizon leveling. Is there a setting so that the Go3s standalone camera can be clipped to my backpack and regardless how my backpack is situated; right-side-up or sideways, the footage taken by the camera will remain smooth and horizon leveled? Also, my Go2 has haptic vibration so i don't need to look at a light or activate the beeping. Does the Go3s have that feature in the camera (not the action pod)?
The problem with this camera is when the battery dies, the camera dies with it. Like my Go 2, when the power mount is sold out, it is now useless without the charging case. with the charging case, it is not useable, it is heaby.
Do you know can the small camera itself out of the case charge with an external battery? I didn't know if there was a USB c connection in the actual small thumb sized camera.
Great update bud...but I'm extremely pissed off...I just spent $600 on the Go3 a month ago! I'm getting real tired of companies following Apples money grab tactics of minor upgrades at full pricing in less than a year

For the price of the Standalone upgrade. It is too expensive. Add a little over a hundred, you can get the Ace Pro. Not worth it. Not happy. I bought the Go3 2 months ago
Needs an sd card slot in the main module. Or at least the pod. Action pod should be waterproof. The quick reader "solution" is so dumb when every device should just have an sd card slot. If they put an sd card slot and a usb port on the camera i would consider buying.
Unfortunately it will not be successful camera. 400EURO is way too expensive for such a camera in compare to gopro. Many people don't need this big case - it should be sell without it for 200Euro. But this - no. I hope that Caddx will make Peanut 2 base on this camera. Otherwise it make no sanse at least for me.
The GO series was never designed to take over traditional action cameras but people like to think it is. It's a different class of camera like the Pocket 3 or the X4 or GoPro Mini or the GoPro 360. It's an additional tool to your gear bag for shots which a traditional actioncamera cannot achieve. As for cost, well, who said any gadgets are cheap, look at the GoPro mini, riddled with problems, very little features, no display at $400??? but people seem to have no problems throwing money at it ;)
