I just started learning guitar by myself a few months ago and listening to him talk like that while he's teaching the licks is intimidating. He's a badass guitarist and my idol but it's gonna take me a while to get to his level.
I think at the beginning it said in caption to tune down 1/2 step. Thanks Mark T., neat stuff. Alterbridge is the classic sound for me. To me it's the kind of classic stuff that won't be forgotten.
The most valuable thing in this is the what he says during the last ten seconds that's the real key to reaching that point to where you can really move around the fret board at will combine that with practicing many different techniques (bends legato vibrato arrpegios etc...) and your in buisness.
mark mark mark! i have been a big fan of u and creed/alter bridge since i was a kid and i still am! u are one of the best guitarists in the world to me im soo sooo glade creed and alter bridge can coexist at once. both bands have worlds of talent and something to say so both should get an even shake... im sure working 4 both bands is hard but im sure u guys can pull it off gracefully! cant wait 2 hear your play on both new albums rock on
This guy sounds real cool. There is no way I could listen to that marbles in his mouth singer in Creed. Thanks for posting this. I had no idea this dude was good.
@aviselva i think you should hear his first work with creed,... Mr. Tremonti is an excellent guitarrist... i respect your point of view and support that hi makes great solos.. So, lets jus enjoy Creed and Alter Bridge... Regards
i totally agree wid you man ur ryte no one is betta den anyone,u cannot compare them to eachother,i agree tht they r influencd by other musicians but they r all gud in they own way
@G27dude So first of all, I agree that you have to know theory to a certain extent! It can be a big help and make a lot of things easier, but sometimes you stick too much to the scales and the theory and it can be harder t break out of the box, to play something new. And to write a G-F progression in the key of G major is something you can do w/o knowing theory. a lot of great musicians dont know theory that well and come up with great stuff. but for improvising it CAN be a help, i agree
I hate how internet and the frickin media created rumors about this guy and what he represents. Fuck em. Tremonti is one of the if not THE BEST guitar player of MODERN ROCK!
Tremonti es great! I found tabs of these licks Dont forget his guitar is tuned on Eb If you dont have guitar pro software is easy to download or if you wish i can email it to you LETS PLAY!
but don't forget, picking every note sounds different from sweeping. that's why (for example) paul gilbert and steve morse have developed their own styles.
@G27dude Yeah I know that but you said yourself if you r in G major and introduce an F chord you CAN do that, even though its bit "strange" or uncommon to do. But you can do that w/o theory too ;) I got to agree Im still a bit unsecure when it comes to mixing keys in one song (here I rely on what I hear or what I come up with when jamming and think it sounds cool). an websites with some explanation on that topic for me? :)
@aviselva if you think lead is always the hard part and rhythm is always the easy part then you don't know nearly as much about modern rock guitar as you think you do
@die0eule0ulrich lol. Actually F isn't in G major so you can't write a G-F progression in that key. But hardly anyone actually writes chrod progressions in strictly one key. Key relationships. You need to brush up on your theory ;) haha. Glad we found some common ground.
@LeaderOfTomorrow I know. It wouldnt be so bad, but he doesnt sound like Vedder. He doesnt sound awful, cause there are alot of people that like his voice, but it's deffintly not me. I can't stand his voice. Overcome isn't a bad song though. He did relatively well in that on imparticular.
@G27dude WTF :D What if I play G chord and then in my head have a sound and when I put that sound on the fretboard and it turns out to be a F chord... Do I have to know the theory to create that? And in the end, what does it matter if someone actually knows how he did that progression theory-wise or if he just played what he haerd in his head? Sorry but just doesnt make any sense, its equally creative, just with a different approach!
Tremonti KICK ASS!!!... And i think he cannot be campared with paul gilbert and co. because mark is a rhythm guitarrist and he´s doing that very very well... He´s solos? a few but excellent
@majick59 I agree. Because I don't like Creed NEARLY as much as I like Alter Bridge. And the only difference between the two is Myles Kennedy. So, yeah. Must be Scott Stapp.
@ZijnErNogNamenOver that would be the student edition (SE) version of the actual signature. lets face it, no signature edition guitar is cheap. sorry to disappoint.....
@believer92803 He took one lesson, and I believe he said they tried to teach him song like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or something stupid, and he just wanted to learn Metallica, so he quit.
Well it wasn't until the weathered album that he began exploring with legato and blues, and it wasn't in the music at all. I do believe the song signs was the first creed song with a pinch harmonic in it lol.
@gadgetsit thats kind of a stupid thing to say considering thats theres only one difference with Alter Bridge and Creed, regardless of which band you like or dislike.
@die0eule0ulrich So if I knew theory inside and out does it make it more difficult for me to play a G chord followed by an F? No, so how is it a barrier. I know it's not theoretically correct if I was trying to write a song strictly in G but I can still do it, and that's exactly what I'm saying. What if you wanted to solo over it. You must have a very good memory to know where all of the "good sounding notes" are for EVERY key without associating it with any scales. It's good to know. just sayin
Tremonti is my favorite guitarist of all time
I just started learning guitar by myself a few months ago and listening to him talk like that while he's teaching the licks is intimidating. He's a badass guitarist and my idol but it's gonna take me a while to get to his level.
Hope you got to his level by now 🙏
Wow, props for actually giving a lesson on theory, and not telling masses of people just where to put their fingers on the fretboard.
@HiredGoonage ive heard that thing front row in person...very beautiful sounding guitar
I don't listen to this guy's bands but I every time I see him play all I can do is try and absorb some of his skill. Got a lot of respect for him.
he plays SO effortlessly!!
I think at the beginning it said in caption to tune down 1/2 step. Thanks Mark T., neat stuff. Alterbridge is the classic sound for me. To me it's the kind of classic stuff that won't be forgotten.
I like that this guy doesn't just PLAY it, but KNOWS IT COMPLETELY! Knowing all the theory behind the lick makes him EVEN MORE OF A BAD ASS
he's so good. that i got absolutely nothing out of this lesson. lol. he's to good.
The most valuable thing in this is the what he says during the last ten seconds that's the real key to reaching that point to where you can really move around the fret board at will combine that with practicing many different techniques (bends legato vibrato arrpegios etc...) and your in buisness.
Amazing video. Thank you so much Mark. The full Tremoti on Guitar one with the cd is full of knowldge behind the licks. It is like Gold.
mark mark mark! i have been a big fan of u and creed/alter bridge since i was a kid and i still am!

This guy sounds real cool. There is no way I could listen to that marbles in his mouth singer in Creed. Thanks for posting this. I had no idea this dude was good.

its just outstanding....woow!!! love you mark tremonti
he's an incredible player and a nice guy to boot. what more can you ask for in a guitar player ;-)
Lick 4 is sick and I respect this guy for actually getting better over time instead of just staying the same like Kirk Hammett for example

@aviselva i think you should hear his first work with creed,... Mr. Tremonti is an excellent guitarrist... i respect your point of view and support that hi makes great solos.. So, lets jus enjoy Creed and Alter Bridge... Regards
Mark Tremonti ROCKS!!!
@Songwriter4God HE took a lesson from Michael Angelo Batio,in the early days of Alter Bridge.
i totally agree wid you man ur ryte no one is betta den anyone,u cannot compare them to eachother,i agree tht they r influencd by other musicians but they r all gud in they own way
What a sweet guitar
MT is a superb guitarist,~I've only recently discovered him, creed higher from his earlier days is excellent and later on Metalingus from Alter Bridge.
@G27dude So first of all, I agree that you have to know theory to a certain extent! but don't forget, picking every note sounds different from sweeping. that's why (for example) paul gilbert and steve morse have developed their own styles.
Is he using the Open D tuning?
btw, Tremonti is fucking awesome!!!
yes he did
@G27dude Yeah I know that but you said yourself if you r in G major and introduce an F chord you CAN do that, even though its bit "strange" or uncommon to do. Could somebody tell the name of the song that is playing right as this video clip begins? Thanks
is it just me, or has his technique improved tremendously, since creed, not to say that creed havent wrote some great songs
@jozdali00 Well, yeah he took lessons later, but in the beginning he was self taught, like most professionals who rae self taught.
@92796Apollo no the hell its not lmao... its from blackbird.
@aviselva if you think lead is always the hard part and rhythm is always the easy part then you don't know nearly as much about modern rock guitar as you think you do
I don't anything about this where do I start lol what is there first process to understanding all these notes?

MARK MARK MARK MARK MARK MARK!!!
Great sound!! 5/5

@die0eule0ulrich lol. Actually F isn't in G major so you can't write a G-F progression in that key. But hardly anyone actually writes chrod progressions in strictly one key. Key relationships. You need to brush up on your theory ;) haha. Glad we found some common ground.

he's the best guitarrist

Tremonti KICK ASS!!!... And i think he cannot be campared with paul gilbert and co. because mark is a rhythm guitarrist and he´s doing that very very well... He´s solos? a few but excellent
Yes, but now he's in Alter Bridge, grunge heavy band.

@traumabond you mean underrated ?
what have you got against nickelback ?????
@die0eule0ulrich So if I knew theory inside and out does it make it more difficult for me to play a G chord followed by an F? No, so how is it a barrier. Am I the only one who noticed that on the first riff Mark up-picked all the notes?
@metallic4ya if only more people would understand that
@wwe9112 This lesson assumes you know "intervals."
@traumabond Yeah, you mean underrated.
