What an intriguing story! I believe the love story because moms diary would never admit such a thing that would reflect back upon them. Even the suicide would ruin them.
I agree. My husband believes this version. He said that that type of parents wouldn't want any record of what really happened to get out, so naturally, her mother would write what she wanted people to believe in her diary. How did her parents live with what they did to her? Trying to force her to marry a man she did not love just for status.
I think they wouldn't give it a second thought. That's how people were in those times. If this side of the story is true, it is truly heartbreaking. 😔
