Knicks16 ..so did 6-0 MJ win the title in 87-88? You probably a young buck used to watching ESPN highlights. Mike wasn’t 6-0. Mike and Scottie were 6-0.
The question is did he make the players around him better? Look at a rookie Larry Bird when his team improved from 29 wins to 61? Parish, McHale and DJ were not on that team either. You can also look at Magic that vastly improved a Lakers team with Kareem already in it and lead them in game 7 in the finals when Kareem went down.
The reason MJ's career is also so interesting is like watching a young painter improve. Towards the last part of his career, you can really see the master strokes. His career went full circle.

Michael Jordan was an athletic freak in his younger days, then became a mid-range sniper in his later years. 82% from mid range in Washington! 😳🐐 Why is it Jay Williams acting like MJ wasn’t capable of doing that ?
Doingitforkobe Jordans brother Larry was like 5'9" and had over 40" vert in highschool. So they have amazing genetics in that family blood. Jordan is def a unicorn tho you never see anybody with the speed athleticism, will power, drive, talent, overall skill all combined into one man. Well never see it again either.
you are just wrong. MJ was 82% FROM THE FREE THROW LINE. the best 2 point percentage he shot in his career was 55.1% and that definitely wasn't during the washington years lol. MJ would probably be as good offensively as KD is. maybe he could score close to 40 points per game if his team is bad and he gets most of the shots. i don't see him shooting 16 free throws a game. unless he becomes a certified flopper like harden, he isn't getting that many calls. and as much as mj fans make fun of todays era, i bet they'd agree that mj wouldn't flop for his calls.
Wilt : "in the 80s they hand checked with one hand , in the 60s they hand checked with 2 hands , there was no 3 point line , they put 5 guys around me and i still avg 50 on them"
PM-RS-NBA Life agree, but Jordan era of players were closer to today’s player then Wilt’s. Plus Jordan’s era they were still able to mug you with out it being call. So that’s why most people still have Jordan over LeBron.
@@TerribleTake sure that why mj would avg 40+ easy in todays nba,+10pts only on free throws ,and if u pick anybody from todays game in your best starting 5 u must be crazy or very young
Coincidentally, the Detroit Pistons with Chauncy Billups, Richard Hamilton, Tayshawn Prince, and Rasheed Wallace also made Lebron the player he became.
So the centers today could shoot the ball from three dribble not to mention drive and have the athletic ability that those centers didn’t even possess so don’t say wilt would not have a hard time guarding them as well because he just operated down low these centers can score from anywhere not just in the paint last time I checked he didn’t have to guard guys out on the perimeter
MJ's father said the best thing you can do to MJ is tell him something he CAN'T do. That's all the motivation MJ needs. Like when folks said scorers don't win rings or he was washed in 1995. 😂
MJ's last 36 seconds of the 1998 Finals Game 6 was basically 3 legendary plays in 1. He had to make that layup. What if he missed? Then his defensive tendencies showed. The Steal which led to The Shot.
That steal was called out by Phil Jackson he said Utah's bringing the ball to Malone in the low post. He already knew what they were going to do. Then the rest was history.
@@SirCharles824 ... No, the steal wasn't called out by Phil lol. You had to watch either Stockton or Malone. Malone got the ball and Jordan didn't clear.
Mr Sock the first video was much better researched. Let’s stop lying about the superiority of defense back in the day, it’s all emotion and nostalgia. Defense back then was great because of the physicality, defense today is great because of advanced zone concepts and longer/quicker/faster defenders. If you allowed a guy like LeBron to play against smaller/slower defenders who couldn’t zone against him at all, he would drop 50. If you double/triple teamed him with those same defenders, he would find the open man and put up triple doubles every night.
@@rabselyoehnam6460 73% NBA players vote MJ the GOAT. I would take their opinion over your everyday. Even the best offensive player in NBA right now (KD) says MJ would still be the best in this era.

@@kidpoker9408 No, he just gets to the paint more easily, because of no players like Laimbeer to threaten to cause a career ending injury to him. He is considerably worse than MJ when he shoots from outside of the paint. And not as graceful as MJ when finishing in the paint.

MJ got cut from his high school varsity team. The shot in 82. The 63 in 86. The shot in 89. The Bad Boys. His father's murder. Baseball. The Flu Game. The shot in 98. His career is so storybook.
@ Pat4Clippers I agree. For these youngsters that don't know how good the game of basketball was back then. The GOAT didn't make the team. You had to bring a little bit more than HYPE to the court. Currently, you have freshmen in high school being projected in the draft. Before, a freshman would be concerned with just making the freshman team. Lebron owes his career to David Stern. In a panic trying to replace the GOAT, he compromised the integrity of the NBA. Those changes allowed kids to come in and play what was considered to be a man's game(No Babies Allowed). If they struggled at certain aspects of the game, he would implement another rule to help them along. Consequently, we are here today debating a point that shouldn't ever be debated. LJ is and will never be on the level of a MJ. Moreover, he could never have played in the old NBA with his current skill set.
Pao D so y do u think tht mj could play in today’s league with his skill set if ur gonna say he would adapt then lebron would adapt too mj shot a whole bunch of mid range jumpers thas like demar derozan and Westbrook mj would b better at it but u just can’t say one thing for mj an not use the same logic for lebron
Devin Florence we don’t know how lebron would do in that era because he basically came in a soft league as a rookie. However, we have seen jordan play against physical defense and we know for a fact that he would murder in today’s nba.
Idris M LeBron averages 8 for his career. Not really that shocking. SAS thinking MJ would get 16 FTAs a game is pretty absurd though because that definitely wouldn’t happen
Dude Dude The difference between Lebron for most of his career compared to Jordan is Lebron doesnt like to drive in late in a close game since he isn’t a good free throw shooter. Jordan would be relentless and continue driving in if he sees a lane
@Claren Dennis Yeah but he still drives a lot lol. He just doesnt get calls. We all know this. He's massive and refs dont call fouls on. him unless he flops hard af lol
I am 10000% sure if MJ ever played in this era, he would've improved his 3pt% IMMENSELY. People seem to forget shooting is also part of his overall greatness.
He'd also have to work a lot harder defensively and face way tougher guard competition, way better athletes, and probably not be able to retain the same core team as long as he did in his championship runs.
its cause Jay knows he can't change/create the narrative anymore with The Last Dance airing ever Sunday night showing what real basketball was like to the millennials.

Jordan averaged 37.1PPG on 48%FG in his 3rd year. He also averaged 40+ PPG in the playoffs 5x on average 55%FG. MJ is definitely averaging 45+ on 50% in todays NBA.
Can you imagine with the mentality and work ethic that Jordan had, and if he were to be compared to Bron, imagine how fired up he would be? That would take him into another level of omnipotence. He would feel offended thus proving to the world he is the best there ever is, end of discussion.
yeahhh the gambling.. and the punching of the teammate.. but you'll gonna say.. that he is competetive.. did he dominate the era where the greatest shooter? or the best scorer? or perhaps the most triple doubles/ or centers that can shoot at three.. the problem with you Jordan cult is you lways says the killer instict the mentality, the work ethic.. but how do you measure that? base on nostalgia?
@@bphilbac ...You may be right on the big and strong part, which is the only thing that even keeps bron in the conversation of goat. But fast and athletic clearly goes to MJ....by a long shot.
Michael Jordan would be the best center if he played in today’s super small ball NBA if he wanted. 6’5’ PJ Tucker is a full time center averaging 34 MPG.
@Christopher Law bruh it goes both ways it's soft because of the rules players were getting help defensively in the 80s and 90s because they can hand check now you would have to stand in front of a person and guard them can those 80s and 90s basketball players guard the basketball players today and if you put today's era back then they could clothesline and hack people to that's easy to do
Jordan scored 43 points on 60% FG against the #1 defensive team in 2003 (Nets)... at age 40. What do you think prime MJ would do in a league without handcheck?
I'm completely throwing out every single ring and Finals MVP won from each legend. Michael Jordan is still the most accomplished basketball player of all-time! 🤣
Max: "Remember when I said if Pippen didn't have the migraine in Game 7 against the Pistons, the first time Jordan had an All-Star?" Me: Well how could we not? You mention it every single time LOL
Go back and watch what Jordan went through in those series against the pistons or Celtics. Today's nba players would get the ball stolen by Jordan and Jordan would of went scored and been back on DEFENSE while the other player was still whining to the ref. He would of dominated inside the arc because when he played Jordan had to go through 6 guys in the paint to get to the basket, now a days maybe 2 guys in the paint while 7 other players are standing out by the three point line. He played every game, that don't happen today, he played both sides of the ball , players don't do that, and I think just in those two points Jordan had more endurance than 90% of the players today. He had seasons of averaging 30 points or more, THEN so today nba easy 40 points a game for Jordan, EASY!
It would depend on how much Jordan's 3-point game improves for this particular climate. His final season with the Bulls was not very good in terms of the 3, but prior to that, he was pretty good. He would just be taking so many more.
Jay Williams made an excellent point that i'm sure went over most people's heads. Back in the 2000's when Kobe was in his hey day, someone asked Derick Fisher about Kobe's greatness. Fisher said something to the effect of - " People just don't understand. This man could easily average 40 points a game. But he plays in a system that doesn't allow him to do that." That system that Fisher was talking about was the Triangle Offense. The triangle offense limits the offenisve players scoring opportunities because of the constant ball movement. So instead of one guy dominating the ball, the ball is shared between three players. You just heard Williams say how difficult that system was to learn. That system is what caused Jordan's numbers to drop in the 1990s when Phil took over and moved Jordan off ball and let Pippen do more of the facilitating. And Jordan STILL averaged 30! Folks who never saw Jordan play just don't understand how good of a scorer he was!
Jordan averaged 37 ppg on 50% of his shots in a season one time (hand checking was still allowed during this time mind you!) I think he would average 50 ppg in today's game
Hand checking is overrated concept there was also no zone defense when he played that’s a huge difference as well I think I liked the MJ of 90s much more he’s offensive skill set and post game was amazing yeah he averaged more in the 80s but I liked watching his game and how it evolved much more in the 90s
Mike averaged 37 a game on 48% shooting and he was hand checked at the time he was also probably 6’6” 195 pounds even LeBron in his physical prime was 6’8” 260 pounds who’s hand checking that?
Rainz yeah tru but they collapsed once u beat ur man past the ball in a one on one and they still called fouls then I’m sorry I just think people are real life living in the past physicality and playing dirty is two different things the game is always evolving ppl like to complain about three point shot attempts but the fact of the matter is shooting the three is a part of a skill set that requires practice and it’s amazing it doesn’t seem to matter the next generation will always knock down the previous
Kobe averaged 35 ppg and Kobe was never as good as Jordan. You want to know how great MJ was, don't compare their numbers in the regular season. Compare their numbers in the postseason when the pressure is at its highest and defenses are at their tightest. Then consider the fact that Jordan never played with a player like Shaq who could command a double team. Jordan was always the main focus of the opposing team's defense every single time he stepped out on the floor! And he still dropped buckets. As Jay Williams stated, a 40 ppg estimate is being conservative.
I hear crickets where Shannon Sharpe, Nick Wright, Jason McIntyre, Bill Laimbeer, and Isiah Thomas are standing at. 🤣 Their LeGOAT arguments holds zero merit. They've lost.
I hope some crazy athletic little kid somewhere in the world is watching his doc and thinking I'm gonna be like Mike... but better. Theres no one in the league right now that can captivate the way Mike could.
It's gonna take someone who wants to be the best they can possibly be and work insanely hard to accomplish that. All great players never took someone else's game or stats to tryn beat them to be the best. They all have their own games and travelled down their own path to become great.
I grew up in the Jordan era and seen him play from day one to the end of his career. He was a beast of a player. But im tired of all this old men from ESPN always saying that in this new nba era theres nobody as good. Yes rolls are different and so are the way teams play. The truth is we will never know because the 90s NBA is different like todays NBA and the past NBA. And if you want to start counting rings and making that a comparison then lets not forget Bill Russell , but wait that was another era with way different rules as well. If you want to compare individual player scoring stats then look at whos on top of the list.... etc. Not hating on Jordan at because the man was a beast but so is or was many other players so ESPN has nothing else to do then try to make the new young generation believe what they want you to believe. Do your own research. Its hard to compare all the great ones because they were all great!
Finally someone that makes sense. I was born in 81 so i watched most of MJs career and although i do agree that he's the GOAT, im tired of people making him seem like he was a god. The guy was not perfect. He was born in an era where basketball was more physical, he learned under the tutelage of Dean Smith and toughened up because of what he had to go through specially with the pistons. If Jordan was born in this era, he would be doing exactly what every other player is doing now. If Durant, Lebron, or even James Harden were born in that era, who's to say that they wouldn't have adapted and toughened up like everyone else in that era. Durant would probably have bulked up and be more physical, shoot 3s and be the toughest match up in the league. Who knows. Would James Harden adjust his game to the rules and we definitely know he wouldn't flop because they didn't reward you for thay back then. Lebron is a freak of nature and if he was allowed to hack with no foul, who's to say that this wouldn't have worked in hos favor. People, please.... No one knows but Jordan is a basketball player and under the right circumstances he became the greatest player ever
Do you think jordan would allow anyone to "shoot better" than him knowing full well what sort of personality he has? I think he'll work himself to be a Klay Thompson if it's necessary, because he's that type of guy.
There were better shooters than him is his own era. Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, etc. He wasn’t even the best shooter on his own team. Y’all have to stop with this bs acting like MJ has no flaws. He can’t just be amazing at something he was average at because of his “killer instinct” lmao.
GOAT. so said it, he has killer instinct. that alone can cover his flaws. if the other player is about to out played him, he will do his best to out played that player.. that’s make him the GOAT. his determination to win on everything.
People forget those last 24 games of the 89 season at the point. His numbers blow everyone else's numbers outta the water except for Oscar Robertson's. But Jordan would have touched those up as well if he had more time to acclimate to the position.
Personal opinion: As great as MJ was I’m under the assumption that competition is competition no matter era he’s in. Anyone who says that he would have just flat out dominated is dismissive of the players that are actually balling out of control in today’s era. Let’s not act as if he shut down every great at any time either. His team was just better when it counted. But again, this is just my opinion....🤷🏿♂️
Well I will say this, timing is everything. Let me use tennis as an example. I mean Roger Federer completely dominated in his prime but if he would have played when Sampras and Agassi played he wouldn't have dominated as much. So I feel like this eras nba is like when Federer played tennis. Sure there were a couple of good guys like Nadal and whatever but that's it. I would say Lebron is like Nadal. If everything is in his favor he will win but in all other circumstances MJ would dominate the field like Federer did.
Why do you think his team was better when it counted? That's GOAT territory, right there. There's big sign up in those moments and it reads, "GOATS ONLY!"
@@craigwilson5365 That's a bad example. Federer won most of his grandslams before Nadal and Djokovic came into the picture. Ever since the two appeared he's the least dominant of the three. Not to mention that he has a losing record against the two. Specially Nadal, he gets completely trashed by him on clay and loses most of the very important matches against Djokovic.
Bro why is everybody exaggerating 😂 defenses are smarter there’s players that are better then Jordan in certain aspects of basketball there’s no way he’s averaging 40. Look at James harden the closest to do it recently and Jordan is not shooting threes as good as that
@@Joshisfamous I think he could average 40 only if he has the most fga in the season. There are people in the league that could average high 30s, its just that they don't take a lot of fga like LeBron. Harden for example takes a lot of shots which is why he is what he is today.
let me just point out that michael jordan is an overrated shooter. in his final season with the bulls, when he was supposed to be an elite 3 point shooter, he averaged 24% on 3s. Also, people forget that in the mid 90s, the 3 point line was moved closer to the basket, so many of those years when he shot great from 3, those were really 2s. I swear on my life i'm not lying about that, that's the truth go look it up if you don't believe me. with all that being said, jordan could've averaged 37-40, but probably not the most efficiently. I doubt he would do what these guys are saying, other wise Kobe and KD would've done something very similar
The reason why hes not a great 3 point shooter is because he doesnt practice those shots. Michael turns his weaknesses into his strengths and if he played in todays league he would easily develop a 3 point shot.
Jordan would win like 2 or 3 dpoys while averaging 30-50 Nobody can guard him in the paint and his mid range game is second to none, he wasnt even that bad at 3s
@Samuel Sosa Warriors 73-9 + Durant would destroy Jordan. Draymond Green is a 3x All-Star, 2x All-Nba, 5x All-Defense, 1x DPOY, 1x Steals Leader. Green is a future hall of famer.

Honestly, the 80s were a pretty high scoring era too, almost as high as today. MJ did score a lot in those days but never 40 a game lol. If we're being honest he'd have a harder time today then he had in the 80s if he didn't modernize his game with zone defense legal
Honestly this whole comparing players in different eras is getting so wack. Now they’re analyzing what percentage of shots players would have. First take is getting wack
Yeah bring up era only strengthens Jordans case.. let's just look at some numbers. Wilt had a 50ppg season when the league avg 145 ppg . Harden at 35ppg when the league avg 114 ppg . Jordan avg 37 when the league avg 95 per game.. not to mention Jordan played in an era when the league avgs the least points and yet he has the highest career avg 30.1 among NBA history.. to bring up the concept of era only strengthen Jordans case because he literally has a higher avg when the entire league scored the least points and had lesser possessions.. there is no argument... There were simply less possessions fewer total points scored in a team during Jordans era. Mathematically and objectively looking at Jordans era, it was an era that was the most difficult time for anyone to score high and yet Jordan still came out on top and destroyed everyone
Here's the thing about MJ: He is the greatest competitor EVER! Everytime he was challenged, he would literally get back at you the very next game. You can see that attitude even when he was with the Wizards. He would have a bad game, he gets criticized, then he drops a big game the next time out. It's his attitude really. Prime MJ, or even rookie MJ would dominate EVERYONE!
Harden dribbles the air out of the ball course he is gonna lead the league in scoring. Doesnt improve his team any more than it is. Harden is soft asf sooks for a foul everytime he hogs the ball to the rim, and then sooks everytime he has a foul called against him.
it would be tougher for MJ. He would play vs better wing defenders and plus, there isn't any illegal defense. Back in the 90s he was singled up all the time, in this era, he would get hit at the point of attack by 2 players not 1! He would probably get more assists if he played with a sharp shooter in this era , than in the 90s
SLIP NORRIS I think you have the rules confused. Double teams and help defense were perfectly legal in the 90’s. It was just harden to run zones because of the old illegals defense but there was no semi circle under the basket and no defensive 3. The modern illegal defensive is the defensive 3 second violation which didn’t exist in the 90’s. They added the defensive 3 second because of players like shaq who would sit in the paint all game and protect the rim. Jordan would have way more space to operate 1 on 1 and would be attack small ball bigs like draymond at the rim not 7 footers like Mutumbo
If anyone wants to start with Scottie carrier MJ then you should know that in almost every statistical category MJ is over scottie and that includes ppg, per, stl, ast, def reb, FT%, efficient FG%, 2p%, 3pt%, FG%, he’s only 6’6 and Scottie is 6’8, AND THE LIST GOES ON!!!!

This guy JayW mybe don't see MJ play😂😂😂
you are just wrong.
Jay is a douchebag that's why. He irrelevant.

Wilt played against a bunch of un athletic centers who couldn’t jump, dunk or block, that’s why he flourished

Stephen A nailed it.. I really love this show.. all u guys present your arguments with great explanations... especially Stephen A!!!
There is no GOAT in sports period. Just one great in every era.
Stephen A: He *literally* wanted to snatch your heart out of your chest.
"He LITERALLY wanted to snatch your heart out of your chest"..... I.... don't think that's accurate.

He was a great rebounding guard. And in this age he might avg wesbrook rebound numbers

@@craigwilson5365 Let's not act as if any of those guys you mentioned wouldn't get completely outclassed by Nadal on clay now c'mon.
It's a respectable opinion and it makes plenty of sense
Stephen A is the only person who brings up defense when he talks strictly about offens
My lawd
"How much would have MJ punished in today's game" ...definitely the correct wording. :)
MJ had the greatest career, greatest story, and greatest rivalry in basketball history.
I came back here after Butler scored 40 & 35 in the finals... With winning mentality easy 40😃😀😄
Stephen A is worn out, Max has sucked the energy outta him 😅
Stephen a said he'll have caused a lot of heart transplant 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
He would’ve smoked Jokic, LeBron, Kawhi, Giannis, AD, and Curry on a daily basis
I definitely think Jordan could avg 50. If he solely devoted himself to doing so. But I feel 40 would be more realistic
I doubt. He only does it in perimeter.a lot of taller defenders today
💯
The reason why hes not a great 3 point shooter is because he doesnt practice those shots. Michael turns his weaknesses into his strengths and if he played in todays league he would easily develop a 3 point shot.
You bring up percentages the last year he played in washington, LMAO.
Truthbringer - 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@truthbringer-6748 bro look it up, the 97-98 season he shot 24% from 3. that was the "last dance" season with the bulls
Jordan would win like 2 or 3 dpoys while averaging 30-50
Nobody can guard him in the paint and his mid range game is second to none, he wasnt even that bad at 3s
LeBron would trade his owner and sons to play with Jordan.
Unidentified Name too bad Jordan wouldn’t have wanted to play with him from a rival standpoint
Unidentified Name 🧢
MJ would get expose warriors KD curry klay and green boogie will murder mj
@Samuel Sosa
Warriors 73-9 + Durant would destroy Jordan. Draymond Green is a 3x All-Star, 2x All-Nba, 5x All-Defense, 1x DPOY, 1x Steals Leader. Green is a future hall of famer.
@@womensfacesarethedefinitio2806 Pippen can hinder KD.
Ron Harper is comparable to Dellavadova, he can take Curry.
MJ will front Khlay.
Rodman can lockdown Shaq, he'll get Boogie.
Who's guarding Kukoc - a dirklike 7 footer off the bench?
Who's guarding MJ?
I don't want to imagine Jordan in this era. Just the thought of Jordan flopping like these other clowns....makes me sick.
Lol
There's literally clips of mj flopping back then and getting alot of bs calls
@@dadillonful Your comment is hilarious. I hope people TRY to search this on RUclips. Then they'll find out how wrong your comment is.
You literally cant find a video of him flopping on all of RUclips, lol!!! Meanwhile, if you search Lebron you'll find enough footage to make a documentary on his flopping.
MJ The Best There Is, the Best There Was, the Best There Ever Will Be
Kawhi Leonard, like everybody else, learned almost everything from the GOD MJ. Kawhi is closest we have for sure to GOAT, but MJ will be forever God.
LeBron is better
@@usefhaslem6643 lebron sucks, he isn't even top five
@@jakedooley5300 explain how he’s not top 5
LeBron is not top 5 because of modern rules makes it far easier to score if you just touch the other player they call foul
You are so right SA!!!! MJ the GOAT, THE KING and all of that MASTERED STUFF!!!
That static is hurting my ears.
turn the sound down
43 ppg
You have to understand MJ athleticism & finishing at the rim you know how many And 1s MJ would have
Plus he was a decent 3 point shooter in his later years.
@@jasondyrkacz8270 Wasn't the best but as far as i can remember. he made them when it matters.
@@supratrd900 ... We weren't looking for those. We loved the post ups and drives.
Would Jordan actually have been the competitive freak that he was had he been born 20 years later though?
Remember it was HIS PARENTS and siblings that instilled that competetive nature in him. So yeah, he would still have that freak of nature mentality.
Max- today's players lead the league in scoring by a point or 2
James harden- leads league in scoring by 8 last year
They just love to hype up jordan.
@@Johenz obviously u never seen Jordan play. He was far better than Harden
@@darrellhardy90 who's saying james harden is better than jordan?
@@Johenz Don't bother, Jordan marketing is too strong
Jay will only disagree with Stephen A when it's a KD topic...
And when it's a Bucks topic
TheKingJason3 YEP!!!
Magic said "don't breathe on jordan bc they'll call a foul". He was already getting all the calls SAS
Battle Junkie he probably meant I can’t breathe on him or I’ll give him aids
Jordan also said magic never fouled out lol
If anyone wants to start with Scottie carrier MJ then you should know that in almost every statistical category MJ is over scottie and that includes ppg, per, stl, ast, def reb, FT%, efficient FG%, 2p%, 3pt%, FG%, he’s only 6’6 and Scottie is 6’8, AND THE LIST GOES ON!!!!
