Just saw the video. I use fleece that I buy on sale at the fabric store and cut them in different sizes...it works really well and always reusable. If I were to start over I would color code the fleece by size.
@@RevisionsMentor I do have a question! How do you deal with pets (dogs) during consultations or staging a occupied home. I am scared to death of barking dogs or dogs approaching me. What do you say to the homeowners. With this fear would it best to only do vacant homes or new construction work? How have you managed this in the past?
@@RevisionsMentor if there is a round 2...would love to hear about your thoughts on storing soft goods like linens + towels! do you hang them? use plastic bags? the mind reels!
Anne, we stack pillows on shelves in storage, its clean and allows us to see everything! We transport in plastic to protect. Towels are stacked on shelves as well, bedding and towels sorted and shelved by size and type. Organization of your inventory saves time in the end. Hope this helps! :)
We bought commercial grade restaurant shelving for our storage space. We have about 10 sets of shelves. We recommend buying one room at a time when you buy inventory. Maybe start with a full living room. Then accumulate what you need to stage a kitchen and dining room. Over time, you can purchase more. I hope this helps! -Erin
We used a storage unit until we out grew it. Then we had two. Then three. :) eventually we got a warehouse! The storage units got us by for a coupe of years but eventually we had too much furniture and needed it to be in one place.
Question! This doesn't have to do with storing (well sort of) as much as wanting to know your thoughts. Seems like you all own a lot of your pieces. What are your opinions about renting furniture when starting out (as I am), is it worth it or just better to just buy the pieces? Seems like renting is about 1/3 of the price of buying a piece and I am not sure if there are delivery charges, if it's worth it and just wanted to pick your brains! ;-).
Hey Bess! We actually rented furniture when we started out. We think it’s a great idea to build your inventory. In the beginning, we bought one room of furniture and rented the other rooms. Then we roll the profits from each project into our next set of inventory. I hope this makes sense.
Revisions Mentor that’s exactly what I have done! Lol 😊. You gals are awesome, I watch every video and take both mental and physical notes!!! I think if my business is successful, I will have you ladies, in part to thank! Thank you for everything!!! 🥰🥰
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us. We explain the exact formula we used when we started out in one of our videos. I believe it was the one about how to get staging inventory. Please let us know what else you would like to hear from us! We love sharing our staging journey with you and want to see you succeed! Also, share your social media with us. We would love to see your work. Thank you so much for watching.

Getting into light staging and my realtor and sorority sister told me to use air mattresses instead of real ones. Have you considered that? I was going to use my dads garage to start storing things. Was hoping to get organized to get shelving off an estate sale to organize. Where do you suggest I try to find more help?
Hi Sandy! We do not use or recommend air mattresses because we don't want to worry about them deflating or someone sitting on the bed unexpectedly. We use inexpensive mattresses that we keep clean and protected inside the original plastic. As for storage, we found some used restaurant shelving that is sturdy and (after a good cleaning) perfect for our heavy duty needs! Hope this helps! Jen
@@RevisionsMentor It was so helpful! I asked before watching your episode on that topic. I am learning so much from your videos! I am a hairstylist that is over doing hair 5 days a week and I want to start staging as a second job. Your information has been so helpful!
Thats great Sandy! Home staging is a second career for both Erin and I, our backgrounds are education and Healthcare. With some passion and planning you can do this too! Best, Jenny
I am so happy I found you guys

I would ask the homeowner before the consultation, whether or not they have pets. We ask homeowners to remove pets prior to showing a home.
Super helpful! Always fun to hear what works
Thanks Anne, glad to help! :) Jen

How many shelves do you use? Also, what inventory would you recommend to purchase for your first home staging? I want to buy instead of rent.

What about those industrial restaurant style storage shelves? I saw them on Craigslist
Do you use real or fake plants 🪴?
Fake...real plants require watering and the pots can spill
