Doesn't work. When booting with volume up + power + home button it doesn't open teamwin and I get the "no command" error. Edit: Fixed that via changing the value of AutoReboot in the Odin.ini to 0. Also, press all the buttons for at least 10 seconds.

PSA: Before you use Odin to flash TWRP you need to remove your Google account and Samsung account from the phone, if you don't when you try to flash it will say "Custom Binary blocked by FRP lock". You also need to enable the developer options (Go to the about device section and click the build number a bunch of times) and (in developer options) enable OEM unlock and USB debugging. Lastly you need to disable auto reboot in Odin before flashing (Once you flash hold both volume buttons, home and power to turn off your phone).
don't work for the G925W8 tried multiple times keeps getting a dm-verity has failed when I try to install TWRP it soft bricks my phone so this is no help at all only works for G925F
If you guys don't get the teamwin thing, you need to do the flash again but this time go to options and disable autoboot. Then start it and when its down hold power + home and when it goes black hold volume up + power + home and you should get teamwin

Everything works perfectly except I don't get the "TeamWIn" menu where you install the zip file even after booting to the recovery menu. I get a prompt that says "No command". Any ideas?

You're welcome! Everything turned out fine but I was never able to get Daydream running correctly on my Samsung Galaxy S6. Only a few sideloaded ones worked with the controller emulator. Hopefully someone will figure it out soon.

I tried with my samsung galaxy s6 (sm-g920f) and I followed every step correctly (the little blue icon is on the context bar on my phone and I updated it) Yet check root doesn't recognise the root, what am I suppose to do ?
I'm legit so confused. I plugged my phone in, downloaded everything, but I am at 2:38. When I do select the .tar file in the AP tab and then I press start, it says "All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)" and it does NOTHING TO MY DEVICE. Am I doing something wrong? Do the newer versions of Odin and TWRP not work on these older phones? My device has been in "Odin Mode" for at least 4 hours and I actually don't know how to get it out of it.
Just toput it in its own place, in order to fix the no-command issue, you need to untick autoreboot, and after odin said pass, you need to power+vol down+home, and then when the screen goes black, you need to power+vol up+home
so i did odin without reading comments and seen "no command" i also get this.. if I try use Odin now it wont work as I've already done it? How do I"undo" it so I can do it without the auto reboot part?

Looks like exactly what I need to do to my S6 Edge in order to set my preferred LTE band (12/17), but I don't think I have the 'guts' to go thru the ROOT procedure .. don't want to end up with a 'door stop'.

Can you help me out please, i am rooting just to remove all the bloatware on this phone. Its Tmobile us on 7.0. i connected the usb only after opening odin and have all the latest software downloaded for it. I'm planning on doing this with my SM-G920W8 (Canadian S6) updated to 7.0 on the Rogers network because I want to add the Mobile Hotspot back to the quick toggle bar and need root. My question is that when I'm reading the S6 page twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys6.html it says: "This device uses dm-verity! This means that swiping to allow system modifications will prevent you from being able to boot if you are using the stock kernel. In order to bypass dm-verity's boot prevention, you will have to install a kernel that has dm-verity disabled in the fstab." Is there another step I need to do or will this tutorial get me root? I've flashed custom ROMs before (Samsung Captivate and Galaxy S4) but this has me confused.

As of July 2022 it’s still working, or atleast for me. I rooted my s6 edge plus in 2018 and several times using this method.
wtf I got a heart attack when the samsung logo wasn't loading but it rebooted again so now im alive again :D

I have a G925F and it failed as well....

yes buddy u definitely need to back up theres a chance u will get bootloop (stuck on samsung logo)
