    just beginning to remove expensive, fussy ornamentals in a Land O Lakes HOA community and replace with florida natives/friendlies. Your wealth of knowledge and honesty about failures is inspiring!

    I love that your neighbor is inspired by you and encouraging you. I think we all forget to inspire our neighbors sometimes. A small genuine compliment can go such a long way. Keep it up you guys! You’re not alone. You’re garden looks fantastic!

      Thank you so much Laura! I am constantly surprised by how many people in the neighborhood like what I'm doing. And my next door neighbor is so sweet! Maybe I'll bring him on one day. If he is willing, he has done a lot for native plants in St. Pete/Pinellas before he retired... getting native plants on the highway berms and into parks.
      I appreciate the encouragement 100x from you! Thank you so much!

    Thanks for the great video series! And thank you for also including the “bad” and the “ugly” and keeping it real. Being relatively new to native gardening, it’s disheartening to me when things always appear to go so well for others, especially if I hit an occasional bump in the road. Can’t wait for Phase 3!

      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +2

      I'm so happy that you like the inclusion of the "bad" and "ugly"! Know that anything you do to include natives is a HUGE win for wildlife. Be kind to yourself and just try something. And while you may have some "bad" and "ugly" things happen... don't forget to always look for the good :) There is BEAUTY in learning too! Happy Gardening!

    I know this bbn is an older videos series but thank you! I'm in the Ft Lauderdale area 10b and your channel has really taught me so much. In the works of planning our family garden but wanted to make sure we have tons of natives and pollinator friendly plants.

    The beautyberry is wild all over our acreage, and they do get full. And, the berries are a bit bland and waxy, the chickens like them, but they make great jellies! Those Spanish needles, I can’t keep it under control, good thing it’s a wild edible! Smilex, too! Do you have a structure for the solitary wasps? Like a block of wood with multiple drilled holes, or a bunch of short, stacked pvc pipes? They make good pollinators. Can’t wait for phase three!

    • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +1

      Yay Phase three! So good to hear that your checkers are enjoying! I can’t wait to make some Beautyberry jam! For my pollinators, I have areas where I keep dead wood piled up for them and other little critters. 🐝

    Thanks for all of these videos! I’ve been redoing my front yard flowerbeds and am switching as much as I can to natives. Though they seem to be hard to find here on the treasure coast. Lol but my one local nursery has been starting to get more and more. These videos have been so informative and helpful in my plant selections! I can’t wait to see phase 3!

    • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +1

      Oh how exciting! I just did a quick check on FANN to see if I could find some native nurseries for you and they look to be a bit of a drive north... bummer, but that is great to hear that your local nursery is getting natives in!

    This looks like a great project. I think it is coming along nicely. A small suggestion. Try adding some Coontie Palms. Them and the Firebushes will bring in Atala Butterflies. I am seeing them in my garden in Central Florida on the East Coast.

    • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +1

      Atala butterflies are so pretty! That is awesome that you are getting them in your yard... I know they were close to extinction. Thank you for the suggestion! 😄

    This series has been such an inspiration for me! I had a ton of snake plants and pathos that were growing into my backyard from the neighbors yard and I yanked out everything I could reach over the past few weeks. I just bought a native firebush today ( thank you so much for that series!) and I have a few other plants I’ll be using to fill the space and get more butterflies ☺️

      This makes my day! You are a gardening warrior taking out those invasive plants.
      Also, I saw your pictures on facebook! I'm so excited for the plants you bought and to see the garden once it is planted!

    I love your videos and info so much! I was wondering if it’s possible for you to show a pic of each pollinator that you list so we can see what they look like. Thanks or all you do!

    • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +1

      Thank you so much Tallulah! 😄 I definitely try to... it is a bit of a challenge... because I don't use stock photos; all of the pictures and videos are my own, so if I don't get a picture... BUT I'm trying to be more organized as I take photos and videos so I can find them months and years later, so I can show y'all as much as possible 😄 One of my goals this year is to get y'all more visuals! Thank you again!

    Mealy bugs ate my tropical sage as well!! They killed one and the other 2 I just cut way back and now they are blooming and healthy again. Your garden looks great. Hopefully next year I can do more in my little back yard

      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +1

      Oh no! I'm glad they grew back and are healthy :) I'm glad you like my garden and I'm excited for you to grow more native plants in your yard! Very exciting!

      Howdy neighbor! Yay for learning and loving! :) I have a video planned to talk about natural florida soil and how naturally fertilize it... so more to come on that! On strawberries, I'll give them a try and see what I learn and then I can share :) And if you want to grow strawberries, now is the time to plant the seeds for a mid-winter harvest. Best wishes!

    Love your garden ❤️. You're welcome for suggestion of passion vine. I have maypop and corkey stem it takes time to see the Zebra longwing. I have my passion vine for a couple of years and am now seeing the Zebra longwing. So be patient

      @WildFloridian  3 года назад +2

      As always Lauren, a big thank you! I just put some corky in the back yard to get that in a shady spot... so we'll see what happens. Good to know it takes some time. The one positive is that the zebra's are in the area. I see them regularly in the yard... so I'll take your advice and be patient :D
