Being close behind the car in front the driver can't see the car right in the middle of the track while giving slightly more throttle coming onto the straight. He might have thought that he’s getting too close to the car in front of him. Look how the distance gets closer shortly before he crashed. He might have tried to avoid crashing into the tail of that guy in front.
To me it seems like due to him following the cars ahead, he couldn’t see the crashed car. And due to the car infront of him slowing down, he swerved to avoid hitting his rear
The reason I don’t get angry when F1 gets red flagged after a silly crash. Small things can turn into deadly crashes and you cannot underestimate people’s blindness
I wonder if he was spooked by the car in front braking harder/earlier than expected, and tried to avoid running in the back of that car - while seriously misjudging his distance to the stationary car.
Remember the safety car and stewards in races the good old days... even the driver use to push the car off the road flags should of been put as a warning also
i’m not sure if this is what happened, but i have an idea. the driver at the end who hit the parked car most likely went to go to the right of it, but saw the car in front slam the brakes, clogging the hole, which made him have a tough choice. from his end, it must’ve looked like he would either go to the right side and smash into the car slowing in front of him, or gamble with diving to the left to avoid everything. sadly, he tried to go to the left and hit the parked car
I'm not sure but I think I saw a little puff of mist from a car ahead just as they went uphill which would suggest a bit of a puddle, the lights are reflecting off the asphalt which suggests a wet track, I'm thinking that although we may not see it the driver who crashed may have had a slight spray of mist from the car in front of him that affected his visibility and when that car ahead tapped his brakes he tried to avoid like how you explained but couldn't see the stranded car due to the spray.
Why did he turn last minute? That looked very weird… Hope they are both safe, but the one that turned into the stranded car last minute should get his eyes checked…
It is track responsibility to throw that caution. With technology like raceceivers this is just inexcusable. Now if they were using them and atill this happwned - then yes that car that darted left into the stalled car should never be behind the wheel of a race car ever again....
If you look closely the one before him lift his throttle that made him think he good not avoid a collision because he was to late to react. The decision to go the other way around the stationairy car was the worst he good make.
Double waved yellows, the cars in front of him slowing down and hugging the wall And yet he just keep going at full speed and into the middle of the track. That should be bannable
There was literally no reason for that guy to hit that car. He shouldnt be racing anymore
For all you saying it's his fault you're forgetting he is behind another car who is also in a train, he probably only saw the stopped car like 10 metres before contact
@RacingAnt mate all those cars were speeding + double yellow means slow down to gear 5 at most which he clearly was doing and another point is that the only visable car is the car on the grass, accordong to the FIA you follow the leading car and match his pace in order to catch a saftey car if its released if not you all match the delta speed on the drivers dash which im sure he did
"Caution there's a stopped car on track in front, the cautions are out. Take it easy in front of pit road" "I'm going for the pass these losers in front are slowing down on the straight!"

Just another side to it. I wonder if it was some kind of optical illusion where as the cars in front passed he thought it was rolling back into his path 🤷🏼♂️ can’t think of any other reason. Still doesn’t excuse the words ‘car in the middle of track on run down to eau rouge’ not being said over the radio. He was there long enough.

He was going too fast and was about to rear-end the car in front of him, so he thought he could go sharp left and avoid both of them......obviously he didn't go left enough. 😬
Everyone arguing "if he is blind or what" but in a real racing scenario. Where the car in front is slowing down quickly and you have nearly no space. The driver who crashed with the stopped car, had only two choice: crash with the car stopping, or try to take another way. Also, is not like Gran Turismo where every single car is lightweight and you just need to slow down. If he lock the steering while braking, it end badly, if he slips while braking, end badly, there is many variables that we don't see in most racing games.
Most vehicles in racing have ABS, TCR and more to assist the racer. But be sure those technologies don't work like in games. ABS can fail, TCR can fail. Any tech assistance can fail at any moment.

So he actually could have had a mechanical failure.Jaun Pablo Montoya came out of the pits in Nascar at Daytona under caution.A control arm broke as he entered the turn and slammed into a jet dryer and burst into flames.
Yall talking about him not being able to see it when he was right behind a car blocking his view he didn’t see it until the last second. That’s his teams fault.
No Racer, that far back in the pack should be going that fast or driving that close to that accident. You can blame that squarely on the crew chief for not telling him
Trying to avoid slowing down so hard, as the car slowed down massively to go between the wall and the car. causing him to take avoiding action.. then the crashed car popped up last second, and he couldnt react in time. thats how I see it.
Bro took Ricky Bobby’s words to heart.. if u ain’t first your last.. dude said fuck it might as well finish last in style 😂😂
He might have thought that he’s getting too close to the car in front of him. Look how the distance gets closer shortly before he crashed. He might have tried to avoid crashing into the tail of that guy in front.
The only coherent way to explain this is that the car is right-hand drive in the Japanese and English style.
Doing this under a yellow flag should mean a lifetime ban.
in this world if there's an opportunity for stupidity just hold my beer and watch dis guy
To me it seems like due to him following the cars ahead, he couldn’t see the crashed car. And due to the car infront of him slowing down, he swerved to avoid hitting his rear
Guy shouldn’t be in a race car period. He needs to stop texting and pay attention to the road.
This is why you don't use your phone while driving. The absolute muppet.
Why did he turn last minute? That looked very weird… Hope they are both safe, but the one that turned into the stranded car last minute should get his eyes checked…
Mi pare assurdo che nel 2024 in questi casi non ci sia una comunicazione al pilota per rallentare e evitare tali incidenti
He's focusing on the car infront to line up a run after radion, plus it's downhill. He never saw that car
It is track responsibility to throw that caution. With technology like raceceivers this is just inexcusable. Now if they were using them and atill this happwned - then yes that car that darted left into the stalled car should never be behind the wheel of a race car ever again....
Not the drivers fault but his teams, he couldn’t see the car In The middle of the track because the 2 cars in front of him were blocking his view
If you look closely the one before him lift his throttle that made him think he good not avoid a collision because he was to late to react. The decision to go the other way around the stationairy car was the worst he good make.
Double waved yellows, the cars in front of him slowing down and hugging the wall
And yet he just keep going at full speed and into the middle of the track. That should be bannable
Una cosa simile è successa ad Ignazio Giunti nel 1971 a Buenos Aires, nelle Sport Prototipi, lui purtroppo non ce l'ha fatta. Riposa in pace Ignazio.
There was literally no reason for that guy to hit that car. The 3 cars infront did just fine and had planty of room from the guy infront of him and they made it with the same line as him yet desided to take a closer look at one of the bumber stickers (extremely close look) . He shouldnt be racing anymore
24h race => Why are people surprised he fell asleep behind the wheel?
If a car is stopped right in the middle of the track what is the harm in throwing a full-course yellow?
That has to be the team’s gentleman’s driver. Sad
For all you saying it's his fault you're forgetting he is behind another car who is also in a train, he probably only saw the stopped car like 10 metres before contact
You're missing the double waved yellow flags that means "don't overtake, slow down and prepare to stop." He didn't even lift, so totally his fault.
@RacingAnt mate all those cars were speeding + double yellow means slow down to gear 5 at most which he clearly was doing and another point is that the only visable car is the car on the grass, accordong to the FIA you follow the leading car and match his pace in order to catch a saftey car if its released if not you all match the delta speed on the drivers dash which im sure he did
Is there no yellow flags or radios in this racing? That is the stupidest accident I have seen in modern racing
"Caution there's a stopped car on track in front, the cautions are out. Take it easy in front of pit road"
"I'm going for the pass these losers in front are slowing down on the straight!"
Ban that driver from racing for life!
I am more surprised at how easily those cars got destroyed. It almost feels like these cars are made of LEGO's.
Professional racer is crazyyy bro had enough time to slow down instead of swerving
He wasn't slowing as fast the car in front of him, so maybe he thought he was going to rear end him, and tried to go from the other side but was too late.
You're not supposed to hold your phone while driving that's why we have bluetooth.
How!? It's almost like he crashed on purpose
After many hours of sim racing recently I can see easily how shit like this can happen. Scary. No one here is at fault.
nobody knows his pov, poeple really should stop saying he shouldnt be racing
My only guess is radio was telling him to go around the outside and he reacted too late
Completely his fault! If it was in a blind corner then I'd see the argument but he had half the straight away to avoid.
Double yellows being waved…slow down & prepare to stop. Racing driver with his racing brain in top gear not only not giving a f@@k about his life but other drivers & marshals ☹️
He was going too fast and was about to rear-end the car in front of him, so he thought he could go sharp left and avoid both of them......obviously he didn't go left enough. 😬
That driver shouldn’t race. Unacceptable crash.
Dont they know you cant park there?
Why was it not red flagged? Dude is literally in the middle of the road
For this situation a VSC system is perfect. Apparently it's not present in this racing class.
Dude shouldn’t be allowed to drive ANYTHING let alone a race car!!!
