Listening to this never gets old. An ethereal piece that transports you to the peaceful environment implied in the title. I can totally close my eyes while listening to this and be plopped in a flat, open space surrounded by conifers, under thick, thick cloud cover and flurries of snow falling; and absolute, total silence -- stillness, like everything has ceased moving -- life itself is asleep, or waiting to take a deep breath and start up again. This tune takes me there. Leo's got such touch with volume change in his picking style; just can't be replicated. Like a great painter for whom it comes easily but not without some pain.
The thing i like Leo Kottke is he took the guitar and composed pieces that is classical music, blues, folk, and country combined. I don't listen to him a whole lot, which is odd because i play a lot like him when i play acoustic. But I've always really respected him for playing what he wanted. I feel like he did try to make some hits but you've never heard a classical piece be a top 40 hit have you? It's not his style. And i wish musicians today had more of that perspective in my mind.
absolutely mesmerizing. good day to be alive to listen to this. 2:18-3:26 slight detour through sevilla perhaps? that warm orange glow come home. gonna tip toe up the stairs from now on . . .. beautiful. Beautiful. Thanks you.
You're probably referring to this one: ruclips.net/video/CZnlD5xHBQU/видео.html It's "okay," but Leo isn't as out-front in this adaptation as you'd expect. And I'll bet he wasn't thrilled with the arrangement afterward; I wasn't. The fidelity sorta sucks, quite honestly; but a six-string acoustic against a session orchestra kinda loses its impact, even when it's Leo playing.
This is my favorite Kottke piece. So atmospheric...
A genius, my hero!

A Master!
Incredible composition, especially madly inspired middle section. Iced Field is forever.
Saw him play 2 nights ago. This was one piece he played and one of my favorites.
Wonderful!
Thanks a whole lot, dear Helen

Beautiful
No, this tune is from "A shout toward noon" which IMO is perhaps his best album.
Wonderful tune. Really makes you wonder :-) Love it!
Guaranteed to not annoy the neighbors. Unless they want you to turn it up.
Wow!
Wow !!! love it !
Leo makes this picking style look easy but it's not......one of the best guitar innovators
I've had 3 'Guitar Gods' for long time, Leo Kottke, Ry Cooder and until recently, Jeff Beck. Got to shake 2 out of 3 hands, so not so bad?
He's deaf in one ear.sooooooo spectacular
great individual skill
Nice work ,very original ! *****
So nice !I am looking for the TAB for learning it.Do you have an idea where I can find it ?Thanks Dom.
He did an orchestral piece based on this tune, that I would love to find.
there’s a recording you can find if you google it, i think it was put up pretty recently
