Do the spokes touch at the crossing points? Do you think the older version (not as wide) carbon spokes are better for cross winds? Maybe best setup would be older version carbon spokes on front wheel; and newer more compliant and wider carbon spokes on the rear wheel ( might keep the comfort and improve crosswind stability a little.
I have purposely not requested any computers. Having now tested at least 3 different cycling computers from iGPSort, the overall user experience and software just isn't there yet to compete with Wahoo and Garmin, Then again, the price also reflects that...
@PatrickLino 50mm front, 65 back from LB, local wheelbuilder uses Pillar aero spokes and Hworks hubs. Cheaper option, should be comfy and below 1500gr. Cost around 850e.
I like these medium depth wheels, and an impressive list of features for the price. But they dont come in real aero depths like the new Yoeleo wheels (which are $220 cheaper too even in the 88) I havent tried carbon spokes though, that might be worth the extra cost to get a stiffer setup.
They kinda remind me of CADEX 65's minus the big price. I run the Cadex 65's on my Cdale System6. I run Zipp 404's on my Pinarello, but I replaced the hubs. I put DT Swiss 240's on instead. The hubs on the 404's suck.
The spokes are named "vonoa" aren't those from the new wheels in house of cube? The newmen👀 I just bought a cube with this new wheels, idk if sell them and buy one of this magene so i can make a little profit 😂
The No6 50/58 wheels are about $400 more expensive (before my discount code). But are almost 100g lighter, and use a more sophisticated hub and spoke nipple design. They also use a more durable set of steel Enduro bearings. If these features are important, get the No6 50/58. They won't really offer much better performance however. But still a "better" wheel as expected since they are more expensive. Basically you more and get a little more.
Aero is deceptive. what looks fast may not be. Norcal Cycling did a test compared superteam steel spoke vs superteam ribbed carbon spoke vs dura ace c50. real world test riding at a set power level. the dura ace was fastest then the budget superteam steel spoke wheesets. @patrick can you do a similar test with the best carbon spoke wheelset VS the Farsports C6 EVO's . cheers
Bought the db405 wheels a year ago my two complaints are : 1) the ceramic bearing quality is really bad (cheap chinese stuff, i had to replace them with steel dt swiss bearing in a matter of months, and also replaced the freehub with a dt swiss one because the one included also had bad bearing quality. 2) the rim bed finishing is subpar 3) one minor complaint is the cross wind stability is good, but not the best in class (which is dt swiss / swiss side / roval type of rim shape with the pronounced middle convexing) Compared to the DT swiss ARC range in the 2000€ price range, you are giving up on bearing quality and finishing detail, so i would say the price point of these is about right, not the amazing value it initially looked like
Thank you for this break down. We can't always only hear about the good. I agree about the bearings not being the best. We are seeing brands move back to steel spokes and quality steel bearings.
what i experience this ultra wide spoke have nothing to do with speed or acceleration. it just a marketing tools i think. but what i notice it sound more loud, sound cool but i not feel any improvement i count my time with same power no improvement it the same.
