Great tutorial, used many times already! I just keep running into an issue where once I make the adjustment layer and add the Displacement Map the effect happens but I can still see the white circle as well. Anyone know the fix?
@@HotDogVendorAMV After applying the displacement map to the adjustment layer, you have to hide the Energy layer (click the eyeball) to get rid of the white ring

Brother I swear to god everytime I try to learn a tutorial, there's always at least 1 step that fucks it up When you created that adjustment layer, the Energy layer turns from white into that videoclip icon... mine doesn't. Also when I make the adjustment layer and drag on the displacement map on the adjustment layer, the shape animation still shows ! Someone please help
I think you forgot to explain the key factor here…..I mean you’re doing it but you’re not mentioning it nor saying anything about it, which is the visibility of the mask layer. This effect wouldn’t work unless you do this key step, that you do it, but you’re not mentioning it. Please do not confuse your audience, specially people who is starting with After FX…..
I came to the comments wondering what I did wrong lol. There's a cut at that part too so you dont even see the mouse click on the icon either I was so confused.
can you make the pre comp a 3D layer and move that around instead of going inside the precomp and moving it with a black screen? Or put the background layer in the precomp just for positioning then delete it after

Why not adjust the position of the displacement map layer in the main comp instead of going back and forth and doing it so blindly in the sub comp
