- How to drop the electric seat on your Mondeo without taking motors to bits! My seat is now as low as it will go and will not lift up no matter how hard i try!
I disconnected the switch too. Cable tie the bar out of the way as it will not go back over the bolt you prised it off.
Total time was 10 mins!
Dont know if anyone will bother reading this but I actually managed it without unbolting the seat, just went through the back doors!
Thank Mosses for RUclips and thank you for posting this !! I was at work in my car playing around with the electric seat and got stuck at the highest level... im 200 cm tall and let me tell you, driving with my head tilted for a night was not fun.
Nice one, just bought a mondeo with the same problem, you've saved me some tinkering time. Thanks.
Glad to help fella. Free solution rather than buying a new motor and stuff! Cant beat a bit of DIY bodging :)

you can buy brass replacement cogs for a working fix!
I did it to my car, excellent idea, thank you friend, you saved my money
Hi thanks , just did this to mine , just a note you can do it without removing the seat it's easy to access from the back foot well also got the bracket back on you just have to lift the seat slightly so it's not bottomed out .
Cool, thanks for the advice :-)
Excellent. I'll try that this weekend. This problem is ruining my happiness
Scott Norman My Xtype Jag same problem , thanks for video great help .
thank you.... from Greece!!!!!!!
Great advice, was easy just unlocking that bracket/arm thing from the back, didn't lower as easy for me as for you, but after knocking the seat down heavy with my ass a couple of times, it sank.👍
I hope you win the lottery, man !
Thank you, I'll try it out hopefully it'll work. I just bought this car recently and I felt its the seat is unusually high I even had to set the steering wheel into a higher position to feel comfortable. I was confused because the electric motor made a noise for me too, I thought its good and working so the seat must be a problem, something is not allowing the motor to move the seat but then its actually the motor. Well not like I'll be setting the height of the seat every day or every so often, once its good its good so this will help.
Have fun playing around with it, I could have replaced parts myself but because of the cost, and like yourself I would never need to actually have it higher, I thought sod it😀
now have a normal driving position. Thanks for vid 👍
Wicked! Well done mate :)
4:30 This is because you pushed the seat below the lowest achievable setting. Just raise it a bit and it will fit just fine!
I wanted to try this but I don't get how I am supposed to raise it again... I was really tired so maybe I missed something obvious. Any help is appreciated.
@@vevos_ On my Father-in-Law's Mondeo I used a compact "scissor jack" to keep the seat lifted just enough for thread to make contact.
Just to further add comment to those below, thank you for the video and comments. I had ordered a replacement motor however managed to get circlip off and manually wind adjuster to refit at the correct height. Now perfect for me but my wife may struggle to drive it :)
You sir are a legend!!!!
youre are great it help me also
y am veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy happpyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
thank you
Great idea but can you move the seat ahead and back now? It seems on the video that the handle to move the seat ahead/back is too low, just on the floor of the car without place for the fingers...
yes it works fine, there are 2 of us drive the car and need I am much longer legged than my friend but it slides as it should
Hi.. I thought the ST220 seats came with 8 way position switch.
Anyone knows if this fix will get the seat lower down than normal? I'm pretty tail and thinks my driving position is a bit to high with the seat position set to low. The system seems to be working but maybe it just doesn't go all the way down...
Great video :-)
Hello thats so informative video thanks for this:) and can you add subtitle in english pls?
Hi my motor doesn't make any sound of motor 😢
You can buy a brass dog on eBay and replace the cog inside the motor.
If i do this can you still use electric controls to move the seat back and forward and tilt? Just not up and down? Or do all stop working.
Mine only had the up/down mechanism but I would guess forwards/backwards is run off a different motor and spindle so you should be fine mate
@@flaxvert just to let you know. Done it and worked a treat all other controls work fine
@@arnieiddy965 Brilliant, well done mate and thanks for letting me and everyone else who has the same setup know. Happy xmas!
Hello, I have a question about the seat, can someone help me?
I no longer have the car but what's your question bud?
@@flaxvert Hello friend, look, the gear on the driver's seat, which is made of plastic, has broken and I want to change it but I have seen one of 12 cm and another of 16 cm, which one should I buy?
Ah, sorry but I have no idea then. You could just buy both if they are cheap enough?
