A little info on that Bill Ripkin card, he was the one who actually wrote it on the bat. He knew it was going to be in a big bin with a lot of other bats so he didn't want to put just his number thinking it would blend in too much so he wanted something to stand out so he could locate it faster. @@deezroastedchestnuts189 At least your mom cares what I think. Sorry you walked in when she was on her knees (again). Have a good night my keyboard warrior friend.
I've been lucky and avoided any of the dreaded "not able to grade" cards. Bummer on the cracked case! Hopefully PSA will get back to you about fixing the issue, it does look like they have an online streamlined process now to do just that, which is quite new. Congrats on the quick returns again!
When sending cards off for grading make sure they are centered perfectly and use a loupe with great lighting to check each corner and surface as close as possible. It will save money and keep expectations in check.
You might have gotta a 8 on that 1996 Finest Allen Iverson refactor because if there is a slight scratches on the coating they grade the coating on the cards because they can’t grade what is underneath the coating. Psa is pretty strict on surface, corner, edges and not so much strict on centering just A little something you should know.
Yeah, I think you are right. I've learned a lot over the last 8 months or so, and that is definitely something I didn't take into account originally. Thanks for the comment!
I’ve had pack pulled cards get min size it’s not uncommon psa got nailed for grading trimmed cards so now they are really conservative even if it comes like that from the factory
I’m not a grader but it looked like the Fleer basketball looked a little off center and if there is a hint of a soft corner or edge they will “8” it all day. That’s been my experience anyway, still a bunch of awesome cards!!
I love the channel and have been following you from the get go. You seem kind and I was pulling for you! You have me nervous for when I get mine back. I tried some ungraded ebay purchases....we'll see how that goes. That Iverson Refractor did look great, and the 8 was a tough one, but looking at the population and sales for that card, they don't like to give those a 10, and the 9s fetch a spectacular price! I don't know about you....but I am super excited to check for the new quarterly specials later this week!
Thanks! Yeah, the Iverson I was disappointed with and I saw the same thing on the pop report. Oh well. Yes, I'm dying for a good special next month!! Thanks for the support!
Love the channel. I'm basically behind you on a lot of submissions (have 4 currently in process). On the Kobe's, make sure to check the foil in the logo and names (especially on the Ultra). If there are scratches or any of it is missing it will ding the grade quite a bit. Many times you can only see it if you look at it under magnification. On the Iverson refractor, check the coating. If there is any bubbling or scratches on that, it might make sense to crack it and peel the coating off. The surface should be pristine underneath. From what I can tell, there really isn't that big of a difference between coating and no coating on graded cards and it could raise it up to that 9 level. Back when they first came out, I do remember everyone said not to peel. Keep up the good work and making the videos.
Thank you! I'll check those out. I probably won't be resubmitting anything, but I'll see if something might be worth it. Good luck to you and thanks for watching!
Minimum size requirement. They can come out of packs that way. I have a bowman die cut refractor of Kobe that I pack pulled and it came back minsizreq. Unfortunately they haven't mastered being able to tell if it's from the factory or altered by some moron later on. It does suck.
I have a bunch of ungraded jordan cards would love to get your opinion on if I should submit to psa. Never done it before not sure what to specifically look at. I understand centering corners etc... but I mean all of those you submitted look like higher grades to my eye
Well I'm still learning, but if you're referring to the Vintage 86 87 Fleer cards I sent in, I kind of thought they might be a little higher myself. But, apparently vintage is the toughest to grade. @@dannyshobbies6784 hey man, I just watched this video, most of the cards you got 8/9s on I think got it mostly for centering . Most of those cards are off either left to right/ right to left.

I've seen many videos that non centered cards get 10's and these include cards that have sold for 5 figures which is just ridiculous, people are buying the grade and not the card, unfortunately if these type of cards were resubmitted probably less than 10% would come back as 10's.
Got a question on sending in autograph cards. So the player signed it but it looked like his sharpie made a small mark in the edge of the card. Is that considered a qualifier flaw?
Yeah. I know a lot of them I thought "were pretty good." I guess that's my way of saying "60/40?" LOL. I'm getting a better understanding of what they are looking for...I think. 🤔
60/40 is considered PSA 10 centering standard. My guess is that there were corner and edge issues on many of these. Also, on the Finest stuff, if you leave the protective film on the card, they grade that, too, as part of the surface. Those films get all sorts of tiny scratches and scuffs on them.
I just paid $200 to PSA for a single pack fresh card. They graded it a 7 (the edges weren’t the cleanest from the manufacturer, but there was zero damage from wear.) Anyways the card is loose in the case. It’s VERY loose. It will probably only create more damage to the edges. I’m not happy and will never be sending an expensive card to PSA again. I’m not going to continue to pay them to damage my most valuable cards.
Dan - if you want to get a better grade on the AI refactor, you HAVE to take the coating off. They ding you big time for leaving it on. It probably is a 10, once you take it off and clean the smudges.
I was just going to make this comment. The centering is one of the first things you need to look at and the Iverson for example is OC enough alone to not get a 10, not taking into consideration any other issues.
Centering is always the most important thing. Always start there and then look at the corners and edges.

Gold Allen Iverson would have gotten a 10 if you peeled the protection off. Any line scratches on the peel lowers the grade.
