I didn't hear the beautiful music until 40. Although i heard and seen many things my brain did not recognize it for its worth. A sudden ego death has set me on a journey, i am like a child now, fresh born into a new world. Music, nature, precise craftsmanship, art and people never seemed so interesting. I lived a life with my fists for many years, i was always right and you were wrong. As a child i loved the arts but that was not what i was going to follow according to the men in my family so i learned to work hard, sweat, do manly things. Reading, writing, and arts were not for a man i was taught. I do not regret my past because i live in the now. The world is what you perceive it as, thats funny, so simple it seems to easy, but indeed that is the truth. Ive rambled on too much. Thanknyou for your knowledge and being easy to understand. Your a great teacher because of this.
Thanks for the lecture. I'm going to attend a Ring production for the first time this year and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this huge work. The first lecture was very illuminating. I'll look for the other parts.
Lovely lecture…one question: Isn’t the Leitmotif a Romantic invention primarily first seen in Weber in Die Freischutz similar in concept to Berlioz’s idee fixee?
Thank you. I’m just a beginner. Yes, the leitmotif was in use when Wagner really put the idea to work.. We find it as early as Monteverdi, possibly. Berlioz and von Weber utilized the concept, too.

This means a great deal to me. Thank you very much. I hope you’ll enjoy the other talks, too. Be yourself. Best wishes, Dave
Doing parts in colours is a brilliant idea. Going to start that today.
This lecture is excellent. Well worth the time.

@@ThePrimeMinisterOfTheBlock Where did you see it? I'll see it twice, in the two Opera Houses of Berlin. Greetings from Germany!
Great lecture, even for someone who’s seen The Ring a few times.
