Finding the good grounds out is the hard bit is agreed, Lee, as we're finding with creeks worth panning. The one speck from three pans today doesn't seem much of an effort, but was the substitute location to where I'd wanted to be, very much earlier. I made the mistake of leaving the big shovel home for reducing weight carried, but just the yabby pump and folding shovel didn't cut the rocky mustard. Very little material, but the one speck of gold, flour gold and small black sapphires in fine black sands, corundum, glows pink under a UV torch, shows promise on that particular creek. I don't golf, but golf gloves keep the hands warm. Main thing they're strong enough to resist smashed glass on the creek, the locals 130 years smashing their bottles on the smooth arc of concrete reservoir we had panned below. When it was decommissioned as a freshwater source in 1924, it became a car club rally site, the kiosk an example of American "parkitecture", redwood logs roof, crazy paving rock walls. Imagine the sovereigns and florins the hoity-toity dropped while having a picnic under the large European oaks and spruce, and American trees, birches and sequoias. We've lived nearby 50 years and only recently discovered it. The early diggings go back to 1851, but 30 "Lucky Germans" made off with 6000 ounces in one year, 1858, out of the Dandenongs, no one today is entirely certain exactly where these "Emerald Diggings" were, but it wasn't Emerald Creek is a certain. Lots of creeks I'd tried about and successful in several, but damn hard to find the right geology, legal spots, and find an easy place to park? You've got to be fking joking, it's a constant nightmare, rather be out with as much freedom to roam as you get in your areas of the great Victorian outdoors. Good luck mate, may your roaming have that magic of discovery, unknown, lost or forgotten past rushes for gold, and that they'd left significant amounts in the rocks and dirt only the future magic wand could find. Pardon the essay! Cheers, G.
Your spot on regarding gold, I've been teaching a few new chums in the game, the most asked question is "where and how do I find large and consistent gold", too that I suggest a time machine. Back in the day you always come home with nice gold. Cheers Craig ⛏️
starting it off with a egg drop ramen hell yeah, spring onions cut up are good with em too. just gotta say now ya found all that gold cash it in and buy a manscrape 😀 great video Lee
I do need to upgrade my ramen game a bit but hey it's a tasty little snack either way🤤. 🤣😅 yes sir, I'm so glad I now have enough money to have a shave...
@SavageProspecting egg drop is the best way to do ramen. I drain a bit of the water out n whisk the egg before the drop. Then add the flavour after then ya get the right amount of soupy noodle goodness. Hahaha you'll be able to buy a barbers shop with ya big nugget if ya want
Its a crap feeling putting all the work in ( and money) and only finding lead shot, but if it was easy everyone would be doing it. You will get there mate keep at it Cheers Lee
Ya I would definitely eat that and be happy about it,yum. The gold was hard to come by but you got gold, must be tough researching for new spots and traveling there, all the hit and miss days,ya not easy. Thanks Lee,better days are around the corner buddy, later man.
@@SavageProspecting Ya seems like you have to go farther away, which cost more money and more time away from the family.Sorry Lee,tough as....hey if you ever need help man I'm just an email away buddy.Later Lee,have a good day man.
Hey mate I drove past you in town on the weekend I was going to stop and say g'day but you were gone when I came back. if you're ever out here again let me know and I'll show you a couple of spots. It's taken me 12 months of living in the area to find decent spots here.
G'day Josh, yeah it's not easy especially in such a well known area close to town. I've found gold in the area before but finding a consistent enough area is tough. I might take you up on that offer next time I'm out that way. Shoot me a email if you'd like savageprospecting@gmail.com. thanks mate.
Good video Lee ! it's good to know that it is getting harder to find gold as I have been out bush for 3 days with my 5000 and not getting any as , I was thinking I'm just unlucky ? I'm going to keep looking for areas that haven't been thrashed ! Cheer's
Thanks Shane, it's always hard, but some areas are less hard, lol. At the end of the day it's all about persistence and time on the ground swinging the coil. Keep at it mate and good luck.
Nice mate, even though you only found a small amount for your trip, other than the gold I'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way, a fist full of nuggets is just a nice bonus. Happy hunting mate. Cheers Pete
Haha get into it man, damn 40° detecting in that weather wouldn't be fun.. i spent a year or so in Darwin for work and damn it was uncomfortable conditions.. I'd love to do a detecting trip up that way though.
Yes…. With new technology in detectors getting released… In a few more years..!!! You will definitely have to be lucky to find any descent size gold nuggets. Cheers Famo59 👍⛏️
Well , at least you are showing the real life situation. It is not easy! I have still only found 2 gold targets with my monster😢. But I don't stop trying. Lee, I have spent 8 hours digging in a creek a few times for 0.15 or less. I know it barely covers fuel. But we ❤ it😊 Cheers Andy PPA 👍
Absolutely mate, takes a bit of fortitude to keep plugging along but as we've seen many times before, the Gold will find it's way into the scoops of those willing to put the work in. And you certainly put the work in.... 👍👊 What's your opinion on sniping for gold?
G'day mate I just want to pick your brain a bit. I started getting into prospecting at the beginning of this year. I've been panning and using a couple of VLF machines. I haven't had much luck locally but I'm not in much of a gold producing area. I also could have been smarter about it and put a lot more effort in than I have. I guess my expectations were way too high and my energy for it started to wane after a few months of finding bugger-all. But lately I've been thinking about it and my determination is coming back. I'm thinking of just hitting the road with a decent PI machine and going for it with the last of the coin I have saved. The thing is if I don't find gold within a couple of months I'll be out of money and in a worse situation than I am now. I mean at least now I have something in the bank but it's all just being spent anyway. I am fit and can walk all day if I need to, and something tells me there is gold out there for me. I'm in FNQ by the way. Mate do you know the QLD gold fields at all? Should I just say 'fuck it' and hit the road? Any recommendations on an area to choose for my first mission? I'd love to get over to WA eventually, but I'll need to find some gold to get over there...
G'day mate, unfortunately gold prospecting isn't a get rich quick scheme. You will definitely need some money in Reserve if you were going to do that and live very cheaply. It isn't consistent usually either. So I'd probably try something else first maybe high-banking pr panning the creeks. Good luck man
@@SavageProspecting Cheers for the reply there mate. I wasn't looking for a get rich quick scheme. Just a living being able to stay as free as possible. I guess what I should have asked was "If I get a decent machine, put the hours and the research in and hit the road like you do in your videos, would I be able to recoup my money and make a living detecting for gold nuggets? Because the amount of gold you seem to find would have to see you in profit, no? Or do you make little or nothing off all that gold you find? Maybe you've been doing it for a long time before you even found any gold, I dunno. Anyway, just wanted to clarify that, cheers.
@benwoodbridge4967 it would be hard to live comfortably of it mate that's for sure if you have some in the bank you'd be sweet. Give it a solid crack for a few months first and see how you go👍
I liked this one Lee why because I am trying to differentiate the sounds of lead and gold In the field they are nearly identical maybe a slight difference but to hard to Got a few bits thou nice Tucker too not sure about the noodles lol lol Pasta and garlic and little pesto butter peas be nice Cheers 🍻 CrouchOz

Yep sure is getting tough to find spots I’ve been detecting at least one to two days every week for the last 2 years and still haven’t got a bit over half a gram but got a shitload of tiny gold so many more people out the bush now chasing it
It's crazy hard to find good spots, pretty easy to find 1 or 2 small ones but to find a consistent spot or a spot with gold bigger than .5 is very very tough
At least you're having fun drinking beer and eating food and I hope you're a woman and your family is okay with that thank you for the video lots of nice shiny keep it up finish the day off with a beer I like a beer at the end of the day
