I dated a man from vietnam when i was younger. I never got to try a banh mi, but got to have homemade dishes that were delicious. The Vietnamese people that i got to know were very nice. I would love to visit Vietnam someday. Enjoy your visit there!

@@dananna8614there is a big Vietnamese community in the USA. Most of the Vietnamese refugees reside there. So many good Vietnamese food in California, Washington, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida.
@@dananna8614if you work in Vietnam and stay long enough, especially in the rural areas. Sometimes you will be invited to families for Dam gio. You will have chance to try many dishes that are very delicious
Thanks for going to Vietnam to show us what it's like, doesn't look like any flys around & streets very clean. Great sandwiches 🥪
It’s very clean, people are sweeping outside everywhere, in front of stores and after a vendor is closed it will not take long before it’s completely cleaned.
FLYS add proteins which we all NEED....
@@dougphamtexas2707 😄🤣👍
If you see flies, it means the food is all natural. No flies? Because the food is treated with chemicals that flies can't eat, or have eaten and died. Pick the right food, buddy!
"thap cam" is combination of different meats, pork, chicken, cold cuts, pate, etc. "op la" is sunny side up egg. The grilled pork or chicken are good too as they grill the meat that day an on open coal, they pour the meat juice dripping from the grilling into the baguette, really flavorful. Vietnamese baguette is different from French baguette, the banh mi is lighter, not as thick and heavy, but equally crunchy. I love these.
Thank you so much for explaining this 🫶 this kind of food is just amazing, so flavourful and delicious. We get different ones from every stall, you never know what it might taste like 😄👍
@@dananna8614 If you're open to suggestions and I see that you walk a lot, take advantage of the fruit carts or small corner shop and order fruit smoothie in VN. They use real tree ripened fruit (here in the US, we get premature picked fruit to allow time for transportation so they're not fully sweet yet) and you get a lot of real fruit in your smoothie. A lot of nutrients in the hot climate there.
The other suggestion is try the Vietnamese yogurt, it's really creamy and good. If you're from Europe then you may not be as impressed but again, here in the US, the yogurt we get here isn't good, a lot of gelatin by-products, whereas the yogurt in VN have a lot of milk in it.
Thank you for taking the time to post your videos as I know it's hard work and take a lot of time. Safe travel and enjoy VN.
@@20luzer52 thank you for your suggestions, and yes we will definitely try it out. We do have good Yogurt back home but always nice to explore new tastes. We have been in the US and eat yogurt but I think it was Greek yogurt so it was good. Are you from Vietnam?
@@dananna8614 I used to live and work in VN for about 9 years but I've moved back to the US. I miss VN a great deal though. I miss riding the scooter, the nice and friendly people, the delicious food at great price, the scenery, etc. I even miss their quick afternoon rain that cool down the afternoon temperature. But most of all I miss the communal nature of their society whereas here in the US, neighbors hardly talk to each other and everyone is for themselves. Take care
@@20luzer52 thank you for sharing this 🫶 we haven’t been here for a long time but we understand what you mean, everyone is moving out on the streets talking to each other and just having a great time. Wow 9 years, that’s a long time, did you learn the language?

Australia’s favorite “sandwich”. You can buy bánh mì anywhere in Sydney and most other cities. But you will always have to queue. Pho is also a big Australian favorite. I just had pho đặc biệt for lunch today at Bondi.
How come that these dishes are in both countries?
Australians love food from other countries. Japanese and Thai are the most popular foods in Australia. Australia has a large immigrant population. About 30% of Australians were born overseas and about 50% have at least one parent born overseas. In Sydney over 40% were born overseas. Australia has a very large Vietnamese population that have been here now for half a century, and now there are many Australian born people of Vietnamese heritage. Australians also love to travel, especially to SE Asia, because it is very close and affordable. So Vietnamese food is very common and popular, because it tastes so good. Chinese, Italian, Indian, Lebanese and Korean food are also very popular. Australia has a large Indian, Chinese, Italian, Greek and Lebanese diaspora.
@@dtester61 in Sweden we have Thai restaurants in every corner along with the massage, we love to travel as well and specially Thai food has been a favourite. ❤️

I would try all the different types of banh mi, from cheap to expensive
There is so many to try and we don’t think there is an expensive one, the one we bought to enjoy today costs 20.000 dong 0.82 usd.
@@dananna8614the most expensive Bánh mì (which I think) is Bánh mì Huỳnh Hoa. Have so much topping in a banh mi. If you try, you should order 1 for 2 people.
Next month it will little bit chill in vietnam. Exspecially in the north.. Late december, you can see snow in Sapa Hill, not far frm Hanoi.
A big contrast from what we are use to 🥶 the heat in Ho Chi Minh is very intense.
I hope by now you have tried a few phos 🍜 and Vietnamese spring rolls! 🤤

Can’t find that kind of bánh mì in America where I live 😢 unless I travel to Anaheim Cali or TX!
How is that you can get it in those places? Actually we have visit Anaheim for a few years ago, or correctly Disney world 😄
Are you in Wyoming or Kansas?
Thap cam means everything. All the ingredients.
Ok thanks 🙏 we slowly learn some words but the language is really difficult for us 😄

Lmao you guys are so cute! At 7:42 when you said "smells good", her response was, "what the hell is he saying?!?!" Haha minus the hell, she actually said it in a polite way to her friend. So dont worry, the meat isnt something weird. Combination is just pate spread, sliced pork and cha lua which is similar to balogne but is made from pork, potato starch and garlic. What i love about banh mi is the mayo they use. American mayo is made of egg whites while vietnamese mayo is made with strictly the yolk and salt. Its so good but i guess if you have to watch your cholesterol lol...
Thanks for watching and the translation 😀😃🇻🇳
